One of the best games I’ve ever played.

Untold Legends is an RPG brought to us by Sony Online Entertainment, the same people that gave us Everquest, EQ2, and Star Wars Galaxies. While this game is not anywhere near as in depth as those games, it is a fun, light, roleplaying game, and the only one available at the launch of the PSP. It’s really not even in the same vein as the afore-mentioned titles, and really owes a debt to Blizzard’s Diablo line of games, as it plays nearly identical. Choose between 4 character classes, various modifications to appearance and skills, and off you go. The game offers quests and spells and dungeons to explore and equipment to loot and buy and sell, as well as providing fairly impressive graphics for a handheld game.Untold Legends is a perfect RPG for people like me, with a little time to kill on the train ride home, or late at night in bed when you can’t fall asleep.

This is basically a fun, uncomplicated hack-n-slash dungeon crawl. Most everything I play is an RPG because I love exploring new ‘worlds’ and seeing new things. This is basically a game where you immediately start killing things (spiders) and move quickly on from there. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, it’s kind of nice to have something that doesn’t require a lot of thought. I’m also playing ‘Zelda: Legend of the Minish Cap” on my Game Boy Advance SP right now, and this game is what I pick up when my day at work has been stressful and I’m not up for a long, involved puzzle-solving stint (I’m a 33 year old single mom who works full time – not a lot of free time). You aren’t going to get involved with the characters like you may have with the first Lufia (for the Super Nintendo), or have a huge world to explore like ‘Champions of Norrath’ for the PS2 or ‘Baldur’s Gate’ for the PC, but you do get to go questing almost immediately, and I’ve found that it’s a pretty easy play, too. I’ve only died once…and that was because I didn’t have the manual with me and didn’t know how to access my health potions when I needed them (nothing like getting cornered by a dark sorceror and his goons and fumbling with one’s inventory!). I think one of the best aspects of this game is that you can turn it off wherever you are and come back right there. When I save the game and then turn it off, upon powering up the PSP again, I see -exactly- the same scene before me. I don’t have to go t.

Loved this game!! RPG at its best!

If you like Action RPGs, chances are you will enjoy this game. Brotherhood of the Blade gives you a Diablo-like perspective and game-play with out overwhelming options. You get the standard level points to distribute, and spell points to allocate between different spells and attributes (similar to the spell tree in Diablo II). Once you get used to the controls, the gameplay is pretty easy (although I have yet to master assigning different spells on the fly. You assign two spells at a time, but if you want to use a third spell…well, it takes a little manuvering, and when you’re in a pinch, it’s a little difficult). Overall, it’s a fun game. And like all games of this type, it’s even more fun to link up with other players for multiplayer action. Personally, I think this was probably the best launch title, or at least tied for first with Burnout Legends. Who knew launch titles could actually be good. Imagine what will come next.

I am a big fan of Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights as well as dungeon crawlers and RPGs in general. Trying to get away from all the Japanese inspired titles out there which just become a little aggravating to me after a while I picked this one up. I had read all the mixed reviews and thought it would be OK.I am currently at a level 12 character and every time I pick this up to play I can’t seem to put it down until my battery is dying.Character customization seems a little skimpy (you have your garden variety melee and spellcasters) but the skill tree adds variety if not a little more individuality as you level up. No, you can’t customize with 20 different skin colors or body types, but as you change equipment you can’t see all that anyhow. So far there seems to be a lot of equipment and accessory options as well as a weapon upgrade system where you can attach different stones and whatnot for added effects. The weight limit of each character adds to the challenge of carrying only what you need and maybe a few extras to sell or whatever. It doesn’t feel like a hindrance as this is a typical factor in most of these types of games. The graphics are nice. Monsters, while a little uninspired, are rendered well and each has a very unique movement style that sometimes looks very cool. Each new area seems to have a fair share of new monsters so it breaks up any monotony and keeps it interesting. Environments are, while still nice looking, nothing that’s gonna blow your hair back. When first get your PSP you have a big question ahead of you, what game do I buy first? While this game may not be the best launch title overall, people who enjoy games like Diablo and Baulders Gate will find it is worth the money.Brotherhood is a hack and slash in the style of The Two Towers and Return of the King with RPG elements (i.e. upgrades and armor) and magic as well. There are four selectable classes but really two main types, melee and magic. The druid and alchemist are both magic based and the berserker and paladin are melee based. The berserker is faster and the paladin is stronger I would have liked to see more variety in the classes. Despite this you won’t find yourself pigeonholed into fighting a certain way. I would have also enjoyed more customization in my characters gender, face, hair, etc.The thing that bothered me most was that all of the interactions in the game are text based and not voiced. They didn’t even have a cutscene in the beginning, again only a text narative. However, we have to look at the game for what it is, a launch title that is made to be played on the go. This game is perfect if you find yourself on a bus, train, or stuck in traffic. You’ll find you have just enough time to complete a quest or two, level and save your game. If you sit down at your house and play this game like you would a consel game, you’ll soon find yourself losing interest. So in the end I give it four stars but if this were anything but a launch mobile gaming title.

I was expecting a Black label game as previewed in the pictures but got a Greatest Hits label, but that’s a small thing. I’m just happy I got the game, it came quickly and I was very satisfied with this purchase.

Although in the begining this game was a little frustrating, it proved to be interesting and challenging. Most annoying thing is the load time. However, I do like the fact you can save at any point…. just remember to do so!

If you’ve ever played Champions of Norrath/Return to Arms for PS2 then you’ll definitely like this game. This game today is still a cool action/rpg game. The main gameplay is simple but yet cool and fun. It’s mainly a hack and slash but you pick up all sorts of different armor and weapons as you kill enemies and progress in the game. There’s a lot of different dungeons and bosses in the game which range from haunted forests, to freezing caverns, and virtual hells.
