The game is a classic and everyone should own it (gameplay is 5 stars). The cartridge I got was in OK condition, but it did take me a while to find the exact way it wanted to be inserted and not load corrupted. I did figure it out after a lot of tries on a couple different Gameboys. Save function works!

I loved this humorous game. Link wakes up on a beach and has to get off of the island, but to do that he has to collect 7 insturments to wake up the wind fish. A wierd plotline for a Zelda game… No ancient Hyrule history lessons like in A Link to the Past this time. The game does not even take place in Hyrule. Even stranger, Link walks right past a Chain Chomp, who eventully becomes Link’s sidekick. The whole game got wierder and wierder. Goombas crawled in the dungeons, Shy Guys roamed in the dungeons, and owls swooped down to tell you something that you already knew. Nintendo had some funny references in the game (including side scrolling Mario levels LINK HAD TO GO THROUGH)! I found the dungeons to be just right. My biggest admiration of A Link to The Past was the complex multi-layer dungeons, but I hated going through them. Link’s Awakening had slightly large dungeons that didn’t make me flee to a walkthrough like the ones in A Link to the Past did. Also, each dungeon had a mini-boss that worked as checkpoint when defeated. One of them put the top view to incredible use, as Link had to jump over a rolling pole the boss had kicked. For the Gameboy, the AI was incredible. The villagers did their own things, some played ball, others wrote letters, and another took care of her pet Chain Chomp. The game was also very large, I don’t know how they fit it into a Gamepak. While I admired A Link To The Past’s creative effects and complex ideas, it was simply too difficult and lar.

cartridge is in near mint condition with only one small mark on it. It shipped with a completely dead save battery which I had to replace, but otherwise it is fully functional and a classic!

Very recently, I found this game in my brother’s room. It has not been played in over 10yrs, but it’s in good shapeand the battery stopped saving games. This has to be one of the best Zelda games ever, if you’ve played it and beatenthe game, you’ll know why. The first Links awakening was on the GB, if you own a GBA-SP, you get to play it withmore color. Back in the late 90’s, my brother beat the game. I recently beat the game myself using Gamefaqs.com.If you’re not familar with any of the later dungeons, say level 7 or 8, you will definitely get lost and very frustrated. This is a timeless game, it was a blast to play back then and still is today. There are lots of secrets and things to find.Unfortunately, my brother’s Zelda game pak no longer saves games. If I were just discovering this game today, I wouldpurchase Link’s Awakening DX, either download it on the 3DS or 2DS, or buy a game pak. The DX version has anextra dungeon hidden somewhere on the map. If you’re a Zelda fan like I am, you must own this game, it’s a classic.
