Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins isn’t horrible. But it’s not the best 3DS game. It’s one of the earlier Lego 3DS games when they switch over to 3D from 2D with a 3D perspective. The pop-up is pretty bad. The game itself is pretty good and it would be great if they would have made it for the technical limitations of the 3DS. It’s bad in any sense, but it’s not great. It’s sad because the Wii U Lego City Undercover is great. There are lots of technical problems with the 3DS version. A car can pop-up and crash into you before you even knew it was there. The draw distance for buildings isn’t very good either. And the framerate dips often. Worst of all, the load times can be 40 seconds each! Once you get in the game, the’re not too often, but for a handheld game they’re too long! There is a lot to do. The story and missions are a good complement to the Wii U version. The LEGO humour is great. If it was technically better, it could be great. It’s better than a lot of the "just ok" 3DS games, so I still give it 4 stars. But even though it’s dropped to $20, it’s not a must buy. Lego Marvel’s Avengers 3DS is better and is also $20. Lego The Force Awakens 3DS is better and has been on sale for $20.
