So first of all, I am a huge LotR fan. Movies, books, games you name it. This game is incredible! I don’t think there is a better game for PS2, other than possibly Return Of The King. So here’s the lowdown:General Gameplay: You can play as 3 different characters, Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. Aragorn is pretty well rounded. He carries a sword and a bow with 30 arrows. Gimli is close-quarters oriented. He carries an axe that can eliminate multiple enemies with one swing. He carries 25 low-damage throwing axes as well. He can also take the most damage, but is the slowest moving. Legolas is more range oriented, with sixty high-damage Elven arrows, and twin daggers. He is the fastest moving, but can’t take too much damage before he dies. I’ve found that in most cases Gimli is the best way to go, but that’s just personal preference. At the beginning of each level you choose your character. Depending on how much you use a character, you will rack up kills and XP to level up that character. When you reach certain levels, you can buy combo moves to better your character. Also, when you play through a level as one character, you can come back and use the others as well. Also, some more gameplay oriented stuff. I felt like you were a little too limited in where you can go. It’s almost like a tunnel or hallway with enemies in it. But that is a really minor con. I also wanted a jump move. I would think if you lost the physical attack (a punch o.

I won’t waste time telling you the specifics of how to play. I just want to say that this game makes you feel like you are actually in the movie! I am a huge LOTR fan, and this game is completely awesome! If you are not a hardcare gamer, you can play it on the easy level and you wont get too frustrated and give up. Not a big learning curve on this game either. For more of a challange, there are normal and hard levels also. I love how you can go back and play each segment with all the different characters. The game starts with the prologue in the first movie, and proceeds from there with movie clips woven into the game. You even get to fight as Isildur in the opening scene and watch him cut the ring from Sauron’s hand. Gameplay is also excellent on its own merits, and so it’s not just another gimmick based on the movie. I can’t believe I waited so long to buy it… this is a *must own*!!!!

This game rocks. I started playing it, spent pretty much an entire weekend in front of the TV. Once you start, it’s impossible to put down the controller. I have been in search of a good fantasy game for PS2 for a while (I have been playing games like Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy) and this one is way, way, way better than all of them. It doesn’t really follow the movie plot. If you haven’t seen the movie or read the books, it would make no sense. Play as Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli (and a secret character once you beat the game). Unlock psecial moves and upgrades, fight against cave trolls, ring wraiths, goblins, orcs, etc. The overall plot is kind of short, but you can play through it with four different characters, and even after you beat it you just want to start over again! Don’t worry if it’s hard at first, you get good quickly

Only one word describes this game – PHENOMINAL!! Its a must have for all Lord of the Rings fans. You can choose to play as legolas, aragorn, or gimli, then battle through parts of the fellowship and into the second movie, the two towers. The graphics are excellent and the game is challenging, but able to beat. Its unbelievable how much work was put into the game to make it so great – even the cast took part in it by creating personalized voiceovers just for the game. I also loved how certain parts of the movie would play as you advanced in levels and it would turn into the game. Not all parts of the game could stay true to the movie though. Certain scenes where added, like narration by aragorn, others were taken out or completly changed. There is so much action in the game and theres hardly ever a dull moment. It makes you feel as though youre a part of the movie!! IF YOU DONT HAVE IT – GO OUT AND GET IT!!!

The game starts off with some re-capping of the Fellowship of the Ring along with a few easy levels to get you aquainted with the controller. Then you get a choice of playing as Gimli the dwarf, Legolas the elf, or Aragorn the man. Every level is different and presents a new challenge. For example, some levels you need to kill as many enemies as possible, where others you have to concentrate on keeping innocent civilians alive. The best thing about the game to me is that with each character it takes a different strategy to beat the level. Aragorn has longer leaps and sword reach, Legolas is faster at running and archery, and Gimli is small but has massive brute strength. It makes you think about how you want to go about defeating your enemies more than the average game. It is slightly a little “hack and slash” after a while, but it’s still a great game. A wonderful surprise to the game is that it has interviews with actors from the movie. It also features information from the books that was not included in the movie. I would definitely recommend owning this game to anyone who likes Lord of the Rings and action games.

Bought completely on impulse and I liked it more than I thought I would. Normally, movie based games suck. This was the exception. The game can take anywhere from 6 hours to a week to beat the game. Took me a few hours, took my friend about a week. The graphics on this game are well up to today standards and the backgrounds are very atractive and the movies snip cut-ins are cool. The characters look quite a bit like the actors and the actor voice-overs help with the feel of the this game. Very movie based. Where as Fellowship was more book based, this is so Pete Jackson’s vision.Packed with good extras. You have to beat certain levels to unlock actor interviews like Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom or Elijah Wood. Personally I found it fun to watch them in the studio doing the game voice-overs and seeing how Elijah Wood zones out when playing video games. A preview for the Two Towers movie and scenes from it are integrated into the game too.Play as Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli or an unlockable character, which I won’t tell you who, it’d ruin it. The character you chose will sometimes be accompanied by 1 of your companions, so you won’t always be alone, but it’s not often. You start at the Battle of the Last Aliance as Isildur to kind of get a feel for the game, then go into your first real test as Aragorn and keeping Frodo alive at Weather Top, then the fun begins as you start with the player of your chosing at the Gates of Moria. Gain points by doing special combos for you can purch.
