Way back in 2004 when X-Men Legends was first released, I had a great time pulverizing all kinds of baddies thanks to Storm and Jean Grey. They were so powerful that by the end of the game Jean’s attacks would kill enemies who weren’t even on the screen yet. That game was the best thing to happen to me in all of 2004. Period.Recent years saw wimpy installments like X-Men Legends II and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, both of which scaled down the power of those two and were totally lame due to the lack of carnage that any individual hero could do.Marvel Ultimate Alliance II, however, allows the player to really utilize the power of those two heroines. Chain lightning hasn’t been this fun since 2004, and neither have psionic powers. Also, Alliance II does a great job of actually making the player make choices that affect the story and character development. Conversation answers lead to attack or defense boosts, players must decide which side of a civil war they will fight on, etc.Overall, this is the best Marvel or X-Men game made to date, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in using powerful meta-humans to defend the world from various evil plots.

Pros:- button mashing as well as well thoughout button combo mashing is just as effective (easy to pick up and put down)- you feel compelled to play it twice to experience the entire storyline from both sides as well as unlock all the alternate costumes- 23 playerable characters + more I’m sure on the way through downloable content- if you’re a fan of the Civil War Marvel storyline, you’ll love this- great fun with 4 players- graphically a great improvement from it’s previous incarnationCons:- sometimes the camera angle will be against you- you must play it through twice to unlock every alternate costume (once anti-reg, and one pro-reg)- there’s only 23 playable characters, downloable content will probably cost some extra $- If you’re not a fan of the Marvel Universe, you may not enjoy this as much as the next button mashing game- no bad in single player more, but unless you can team up with friends in multiplayer, it loses it’s replayability after you beat the 1st time through- If you’re looking for an entirely new experience from it’s previous incarnations or similar games, don’t expect too much other than better graphics and a more well developed storyline.Over all I enjoyed it a log, I was glued to my seat for about a week playing it. Going back to find hidden bonuses and power ups in the simulator mode which allows you to redo missions much like the xmen’s danger room. The cast of characters certainly makes it a lot more fun, and team bonuses depending on which character.

If you like the previous games you will love this one. Pretty much the same game play as the last one but with more characters, better graphics, and some new features. For the price of used game this is a great deal.

A bit shorter than Ultimate Alliance 1 and the Xmen Legends 1 & 2, but overall still a very fun play though.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is finally here, and even though it appears that not much has changed with the core gameplay, comic fans will be in pure heaven with what they find here. Taking a cue from Marvel’s smash Civil War mini-series, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 allows you to choose whose side you are on, and just who’s on your team. Most notable about the game is the huge roster of Marvel characters at your disposal, from the usuals like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, and Deadpool; to the Green Goblin, Songbird, Venom, Iceman, and more besides. The game looks good, plays great, and there’s voice acting that ranges from good to hideously campy, but the biggest drawback remains the fact that not much has changed from the core gameplay of the original. The only real difference is that the RPG elements have been stripped down a bit. Other than that though, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 still delivers the goods, as it warrants replayability with the branching storyline, and there’s plenty of unlockables and side missions to keep you busy as well.

I really liked this game. It was much better than the first X-Men Legends. The music was great. The gameplay took some time to get used to, because I am so used the game mechanics of X-Men Legends and the first Marvel Alliance.I did want to see how much points I had towards the next level. I got just an overall number of XP to the next level, not what I have right now, which can be annoying when leveling up.Of course everything is expensive in the game: levels and ability points.I liked that I was given a choice on which side I wanted to join.BUT, I GUESS MY MAIN GRIP ABOUT THE GAME IS, WELL, IT DIDN’T PICK UP AFTER MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE. I was looking forward to fighting Galactus.

This is a great game. I bought it used from retrolio and the disc was like brand new. The game has some strong language for younger kids, but not nearly as much as the first one.
