Metal Slug Anthology provides Metal Slugs 1, 2, X, 3, 4, 5 and 6 all in one package. There are a few extras as well, including artwork and text interviews. This includes every Metal Slug game made, and includes the brand new, never seen Metal Slug 6. In Metal Slug 6, the enemies of the old games join forces with you against a new, nasty enemy. You also get new characters – the Ikari Warriors Clark and Ralf from the Kingdom Fighter game. There are varying levels of difficulty, and also a variety of controller setups to choose from. For example, in one mode you hold the Wii controller sideways, use the buttons to move and fire, but have to actually make a throwing motion with your hand to launch a grenade. Be sure to experiment with all of the different controller styles for a little while to figure out which one best suits your style. It’s going to be an adjustment no matter which one you go with, compared with the old style standard controller with lots of button pressing. Yes, it’ll be annoying at first. Just tough it out through that period and soon it’ll start to seem second nature to do the movements. The graphics are typical Metal Slug, which means they’re not incredibly detailed close-ups of human style faces – they are just flying bullets, scrolling landscapes and lots of explosions. Really, you don’t play Metal Slug to ogle at finely detailed castles and flowing capes. You play it to blast away thousands of bullets at a never ending stream of enemies, alone or with a fri.

If you’re wondering whether you should get the PS2 version or the Wii version, this one is the best choice. With that said, let me provide some details:- The biggest issue with the Metal Slug Anthology is the input lag. Regarding the PS2 version, Metal Slug 1 has the greatest input lag and it made the game frustrating to play, especially for a game in which timing is key. For the rest of the games, lag is reduced but still noticeable and somewhat distracting. I don’t remember Metal Slug 6 having any significant lag. Regarding the Wii version, input lag is reduced across the board. The Wii’s Metal Slug 1 port has barely noticeable input lag and is far from game-breaking, while the rest of the Metal Slug games have next to none.- The PS2 version has a typical "Return to Menu" option when you run out of credits while playing (if you turn on limited credits, it operates much like an arcade game would work and only allots a certain amount of continues). For some reason, I have yet to find an option on the Wii version that allows me to return to the main menu after losing a game so that I may start a new one. So far, I’ve had to reset the entire game using the Wii’s built-in reset option on the Home screen. It’s irritating, but not enough to make me want to resort to playing the PS2 version.- If you purchase this game, be sure to use a Gamecube controller. The Wii controllers are whacky, and it does not support the Wii classic controller. You can still purchase new Gamecube.

Shoot! Jump! Destroy your enemy with a flamethrower! Bought this game to play on the Nintendo Wii U and it has given me hours of fun. What I like best is that the anthology version combines multiple versions of the game. It is like having a one game disk that has the entire Mortal Kombat collection on it. Great bang for buck.

I ORDERED THIS GAME MOSTLY FOR THE MEMORIES I HAVE WHEN I PLAYED THIS AS A KID. THE GAME IS GREAT, MY NEPHEW AND I FINISHED IT WITHIN 2 DAYS THATS HOW GOOD IT WAS. IT ARRIVED ON TIME AND IN GREAT CONDITION. WILL DEFINITELY BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.

I owned a NEO GEO in college and had several of the Metal Slug cartridges. The 7 games that come on this disc are perfect conversions of the original games with all the button-smashing and blood-spilling I remember. If a thrilling shoot-em-up game with no real story-line is what you’re looking for, this is a great game, with great graphics, and great price for 7 different titles. It is especially fun with multiple people playing simultaneously, as you can destroy most of the scenery in each level. With the Wii, you can choose different controller configurations to make use of the Wii controller and nunchuck dexterity. I prefer the standard arrow keys and buttons, so the one thing I’ve had a hard time getting used to is that there aren’t enough buttons to have one designated for bomb-throwing so you have to shake the Wii controller.

Wow, what can I say. The game is really good with 7 MS games all in one collection, you cant pass up this deal.
