Every Nintendo fan expected the sequel to the original NES Metroid to be an enhanced title for the Super Nintendo. Color us surprised when it was announced as a GameBoy exclusive. The original GameBoy has aged significantly… these days, the green-black dot matrix display is not comfortable to use. But if you have a GameBoy Player for your GameCube ($10 for the player, $30 for the GameCube) you can play any GB, GBC, or GBA title on your TV with enhanced color options and more.I didn’t speak much about this game, because you don’t need to. It’s side-scrolling Metroid, again, and it’s awesome.

One of the best places to search for old and out of date or no longer made games that we all love still

Now this was one of Gameboy Classics best game . The graphics Were actualy really detailed for the gameboy. The The play was really smooth. It was not too hard or too easy it was just right To make it loads of fun. I still find my self playing the game on my gba Once in a while. Only prob with this game . is i beat it in 1 hour and 15 minutes after 3 trys. the game is way too short. But well worth the money

I seriously believe Metroid II: Return of Samus is an underrated classic. We all know about the weak abilities of the Game Boy and the horribly dated black and white graphics, but when you consider everything *else* about the game succeeds, who cares about graphics at all?Yes, this game succeeds in numerous aspects. Let’s take a look at them-The sound. Alright, sometimes the music you hear is nothing more than scrambling awkward bleeps and whatnot, but you know what? Those bleeps *work*. Metroid is a space shooter adventure game. Those sounds are *entirely* appropriate in this particular case! You think about those kind of sounds when you visualize aliens, spaceships and distant planets.Oh, and while some sounds in the game are not very organized, other sounds actually form somewhat of a quality melody. The gameplay. Arguably an improvement over the first Metroid because here you’re introduced to items such as the boost ball, the spazer beam, the plasma beam, AND the spider ball in addition to all the regular items from the previous game. At least here you don’t have to search for the long beam, haha. That always feels WEIRD to me when I play the original! Searching for a long beam is one of those things game developers realized wasn’t necessary anymore (thank goodness!) so they stopped putting them in Metroid games.Anyway yes- the wave beam, ice beam, space jump, screw attack, bombs… it’s all here folks! I honestly can’t believe such an old game was able to incl.

I really enjoy this game from the beginning to end.. well when I started playing it.. it sure was hard.. but after I finish the game a few times I was able to set a record.. My record in finishing this game was 4 hours and some.. but I really like it.. I still love.. and own it. I like the several types of guns, and the armor she gets.. as you play you are able to get extra life.. but some of them are really hided. if you want some truly hours of fun.. get this game.. actually it had higher price from now when I got it.

Metroid 2 is a decent game for the time period it came out in. It is enjoyable playing as Samus hunting down all the metroids in 6 different areas. The only thing that really hurt the game was the lack of free roaming exploration. There is no backtracking in this game. Once a player has killed all the metroids in one area and found all the gear there was no point in spending any more time in that zone you just keep moving forward where the lava blocked your path. The play control was very good for the Gameboy and some of the beta and zeta metroid’s put up a pretty decent fight. The Spring Ball was a nice upgrade along with the Space Jump and new laser beams. The Queen Metroid was also a nice final boss. The ending is pretty cool and the music overall is done pretty well for the limited capabilities of the Gameboy. The lack of exploration hurts the replay factor for the game. You can play it over and over to get a better time and see all the endings but besides that the game is not one you will play all that often. Some people have called it the black sheep of the series. I don’t think its that bad they could have added some twists about finding the research teams that disappeared or a sub boss or 2 would have been nice. Overall I would rate it 3 1/2 stars, It may be the weakest in the series of Metriod games but it is far from unplayble. A lot of the things that made Super Metroid great were taken from this game so you have to look on the bright side. The game is proba.
