It’s pretty fun… the controls are sometimes a little confusing, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. It’s a very interactive game. I reccomend it to anyone who has been a fan of the Metroid series.

My very first Metroid game was Metroid Prime. I played it after reading about all the great reviews it got. And it didn’t disappoint. It remains probably my favorite game of all time. The second game in the Prime series, Echoes, didn’t live up to the first in my opinion. It’s sitting on a shelf unbeaten. So I was kinda hesitant to get Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. But I gave in and finally got it. The developers main focus was to make the player feel like they actually are the bounty hunter Samus Aran. Using the Wii’s motion sensing controller to aim and shoot at the various baddies and bosses across several planets is a huge success, and is deeply gratifying. There’s nothing like shooting a Space Pirate in the face just before it slashes you. The sound, the art style, the graphics, and most of all the gameplay are all fantastic. It takes some time to get used to the controls, but when you do the game gets amazingly fun. I started on normal difficulty, but after getting used to the controls I had to switch to veteran difficulty because it became too easy. Hyper mode is a great feature, and really makes you feel invincible. But a lot of enemies have it too, and when you see them glow with power it brings a slow trickle of fear as all you can do is hide and take shots at them from behind cover. Not many games have immersed me as much as Prime 3, and only one other game has actually made me feel frightened and elated at the same time. That other game is the first.

MP3 is all about the gameplay. It makes really great use of the Wii’s unique capabilities. In fact, this could well be the best Wii title in terms of pure overall gameplay. The only thing I missed was the capability to swing around a cylindrical object (ie a sword or something like that), which to me is one of the funnest things you can do with your Wiimote (and the reason that I would rate the final boss battle in Zelda Twilight Princess to be one of my top 5 gaming experiences of all time). But alas, I digress… playing MP3 was a great experience, and Im usually not that into first person shooters. The combination of unique Wiimote interactions, action sequences, and some very well thought-out tools and puzzles make this a truly top-shelf title, and one that any Wii owner should undertake at some point. The only caveat is that it really is all about the gameplay, as in the story is secondary at best, and a pretty lame excuse to frame everything together at worst. I’ve never played any of the other Metroids, so I didn’t know any of the background coming in, and after completing this I still don’t know much. In fact, in hindsight I still don’t even truly get what “Phazon” is supposed to be, despite the fact that it’s apparently pretty central to the story here. It would have been nice if they could have at least provided a little bit of expository info about the universe you’re working in.In the end, though, the excellent gameplay more than makes up for the lack of story i.

The Metroid Prime series took Nintendo’s much loved series to a new level with the first two installments of the series on the Gamecube. Now, finally, the Prime trilogy is completed with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which is undoubtedly the best FPS on the Wii, and one of the best overall game to hit the system yet. Once again playing as intergalactic space heroine Samus Aran, you should feel right at home here the minute you fire up the game. Even with a new control scheme that takes advantage of the Wii-mote and nunchuk controls, veterans of the series will have little to no trouble getting into the swing of things. As you can expect, there are a fair share of inventive puzzles and great levels to explore, and the boss battles are nothing short of spectacularly memorable as well. If there are any downsides to Metroid Prime 3, it’s that the game can be too easy for some, and that as a whole, doesn’t really do a whole lot more differently than the previous Metroid Prime games have done. That aside though, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is a more than worthy conclusion to the Prime trilogy and has been more than worth the wait as well. It also goes without saying that this is the best FPS on the system yet, and one of the best games available for the Wii at this time.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the last installment in the epic Prime series–And what an epic conclusion it is!Retro Studios successfully accomplished to strike a perfect balance between the exploration and shooting aspects of the Prime series and deliver one of the most enjoyabe games in the past years. The level of polish and dedication put into this game is so great that Retro Studios managed to outdo themselves by creating a game superior to the previous two installments. The graphics are fantastic. And not just for a Wii game, but for any game. Retro has shown the world that technical power is not more important than art direction. Simply put, the art direction for this game is phenomenal and can scarcely find a true competitor. Not to mention the controls!Metroid Prime 3: Corruption has the best controls for a First-Person game, Period. The level of intuitiveness is magnificent. These are Wii controls done right.Retro has done no wrong to either the game or the fans of the series. They have created a masterpiece. Easily the best game for Wii.Buy it, play it, love it, play it again.

in purchasing a wii back around november, i was already justified. the price is so much more realistic, and you get a much better value than with other consoles. i do not, nor have i ever considered the wii and underpowered system, because power is such a miniscule factor in what makes a great entertainment console. but for any who lingered over whether the wii was worth paying so much less for and wielding the unconventional control scheme, you are now silenced. metroid prime corruption is by far one of the most efficient and intuitive uses of the wii’s motion sensing capabilities, and a great testament to the outstanding look games can have on this system with the right development team. i’ve never played a metroid game before prime 3. i’m a fan.

As a huge fan of the Metroid series since the original Metroid for NES and the character of the bounty hunter Samus Aran, I was one of the many who was skeptical of Nintendo taking the 3rd person RPG feel of the Metroid games (especially Super Metroid) and turning it into an FPS, since I wanted my Metroid to be a new 3rd person 3D experience (i.e. Ninja Gaiden for X-Box).Then Metroid Prime was released for the Gamecube, and I was blown away. I rented the game for 5 days, returned it the next day, and bought it. Metroid Prime really redefined the game in a way that I didn’t initially think I’d like but grew to love. I was a bit disappointed with Metroid Prime 2, with the addition of ammunition (which was more annoying than challenging), and aside from the new storyline and new suits and guns, there really wasn’t a whole lot changed from Metroid Prime. When Metroid Prime 3 was announced, I was looking forward to a little redemption on Nintendo’s part from Metroid Prime 2, and boy did they deliver.Since the conception of the motion-controlled Wii, there has been a wide spectrum of new ideas and concepts for gaming that have only to be introduced in order to change the way we play. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the best example of these to this point by far. A key element of this new idea is the ship control, which was not previously available in any of the Metroid Prime games (there was simply a ship that you could step into and save your game and replenish your ammo and energy.
