    Awesome old school game!

I absolutely love this game so far, partly for nostalgia value and mostly for the intriguing design and well thought out gameplay. I haven’t completed the game, but have logged many hours and am perhaps halfway through. I have a 3DS with only 3 games (all Nintendo releases, which says something about why I own a 3DS), spending most of my gaming dollars on my PS4. As a child, I loved Super Metroid for the SNES, so when I see a new entry to the series it is a must buy. It was incredibly hard for me at the time, and I used the strategy guide. Since then, I’ve completed the game from memory many times over. I admit I have never played the original NES Metroid or Samus Returns because I was spoiled by the graphics of SNES and it’s 3D successors. I still play Super Metroid on Wii’s virtual console every so often. I’m glad to experience this entry in the series thanks to the redesign. While the style of Samus and enemies might be influenced by the Prime series, the game’s heart and soul is Super Metroid. The weapons and gameplay take a lot from the game while adding a few new concepts like free aim. Much of the music is taken straight from Super Metroid’s memorable soundtrack. I get chills sometimes listening to the music that got stuck in my brain as a kid.To me, the game isn’t too difficult past a couple of tough baddies that might require a continue or three. I have gotten frustrated by some metroid fights, but nothing is impossibly tough that it turns you off. The world is gorgeo.

  3. Travane Phoenix

Classic side-scrolling gameplay keeps the nostalgia alive in this thoroughly renovated title, while simple tweaks to enemy interactions and exploration help dust off the cobwebs from the beloved bounty hunter’s adventure.A straight-forward Metroid experience, "Samus Returns" is easy enough for newcomers to the series, and has a few new features to keep veterans stimulated, such as parrying attacks, and a panoply of amusing armor abilities which range from shielding and rapid fire to sonar pulses for mapping out the immediate vicinity.All-in-all, this is a superb portable entry and much more than an appetizer for the patient fans who have been waiting for Metroid’s return to its roots.

  4. Shawn Hayes

After waiting far too long, finally another good Metroid game. Easily one of the best 3DS games out there, and a must buy for fans of the series. It’s been over 10 years since there was a good 2D style Metroid, and after the disaster that was Other M, I was doubting we’d ever get a good Metroid game.People also make a much bigger deal out of the amiibo’s than they really are. You can enjoy the game just fine without them. The only amiibo that gives anything of worth is the Baby Metroid one, which lets you replay the game with the Fusion suit, and on a harder difficulty.

Great remake and the music is spectacular!!

  6. Michael P

Despite being a remake of the original Game Boy version, this is entirely a new game. About the only thing it really shares are some loose level design and destroying the Metroids. Sound, graphics and control are all spot on even the 3D effect is used very well. So many additions were made it’s easily up there right behind Super Metroid as being the best. Always find the block/parry move satisfying, weapons are fun to use especially when fully powered. Really no reason to not own this if you like the series at all.

  7. Jean Sebastian

    PERFECT!!! I love this game.

  8. K L Mahoney

LOVE THIS GAME. Another winner in the Metroid series. <3

  9. KianaLegros

    one of the better metroids

  10. Holly H

An excellent way to bring the new generations to the Metroid series. But the graphics, gameplay, music and difficulty should make this game an awesome experience for everyone.
