In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith – and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story. Mirror’s Edge delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith’s world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous. One thing is certain, in this city, you will learn how to run.

Games like Shadow of the Colossus, Skate, Brothers In Arms or GRAW–these are the games that give their genre hope for change. No difference with Mirror’s Edge. The experience was awe-inspiring, although it came to an end rather quickly. I love games that try something new, even if some of the material is familiar. Mirror’s Edge puts you in the shoes of a Runner, who is witnessed leaving the scene of a murder. In trying to elude the cops, you’ll be jumping from rooftop to rooftop, hoping fences, and wallrunning gaps (inspired by the sport Parkour.) If you loved the smooth movement of Assassin’s Creed, then you’ll feel at ease with this game from the start. To go along with the smoothness of the game’s movement, there’s hardly a problem with load times, because often you’ve got something to watch or read during loads (cutscenes while chapters are loading or digital screens that scroll news feeds in the elevators)–even after failing a jump, you’re quickly loaded back to the nearest checkpoint. Now when I first played this game, I had no knowledge of anything (I checked this out after watching District B13 and finding the sport Parkour.) I had no idea there would be combat, and while there isn’t much, stealing an enemies weapon is satisfying and flows very seamlessly. Although there is firepower at your fingertips, don’t think that you can blow through the levels with your newly equiped weapon, because often times there is very little ammo left after getting your hands on.

I have never played this game. I bought it for my ex wife. She loved it. Seemed like an interesting game/concept.

I had been interested in Mirror’s Edge since I first learned of it back in 2008 but other than playing the demo for a bit I never got around to purchasing the game until a few weeks ago. The games first-person perspective added with the free-running element was one of the first times that I actually felt like I was the one doing the running and getting shot at. However the game isn’t without it’s flaws.STORY: The story in Mirror’s Edge revolves around the Runners who are essentially messengers for the more privacy minded citizens who would rather keep the government out of their business. Faith, the main character, is trying to clear her sister’s name after she gets accused of a murder. The gameplay focuses on this aspect and doesn’t really show what a runner does on a normal day. The story is told through in game dialog and cut scenes that resemble the old Esurance cartoons. While some people don’t seem to have liked that decision on the developers part, I personally found the art style to be enjoyable. The world and universe is fleshed out well as the story is told but other than mentioning certain events in the city’s past like the November Riots, the game is oddly silent about anything that doesn’t have to do with the main storyline. Sadly this lack of answers to the puzzle makes the characters somewhat unrelatable and you can’t attach to them very well since you’re missing that vital sense of their past.GRAPHICS: The in game environments are well done despite the over ab.

for starters, i don’t disagree with anyone else’s opinion of this game. you can’t disagree with an opinion, you can only have one of your own.i had fun with this game from the minute i put it in this morning until the end-credits rolled this afternoon. sure, it was frustrating at points, but i don’t play video games to just have a constant uninterupted story from start-to-finish. then it becomes nothing more than a book or a movie. i play video games to be challenged and to be entertained, and this game did the trick. it just didn’t do it the way i expected it to, or for nearly as long as i expected it to.what did i expect exactly? well, to be honest, i expected a “modern” day assassin’s creed, so-to-speak. assassin’s creed came out nearly a year ago, just two days from the day mirror’s edge was released. if you’ve played it, you know it had a completely open-world (yes, i remember you were restricted from entering certain areas/cities earlier in the game), climb-around-anything-like-a-spider-monkey-on-ritalin play-style, yet presented with the most incredible graphics i have yet seen in a console game, even a year later.mirror’s edge is nothing like this. it is completely linear. sure, you occasionally have the option of climbing up this shed or jumping on top of that box to get to the top of building-x. but you ARE going to the top of building-x in this part of the game, and nowhere else. and stop and enjoy your view when you get to the top of building-x, because you can’t.

The game still works great (cannot say that about other video game shops -SEE: NASCAR 09 review). One question: How can a game this great not have a sequel? Hey EA, what gives?

Mirrors edge is a unique game, with a setup that you’ll be hard pressed to find mimiced elsewhere. The story follows Faith, a messenger in a Orwellian touched future, were surveillance is everywhere and the police overwhelmingly an arm of powerful corporations. After nearly being gunned downed while delivering an innocuous message, Faith encounters her sister Kate, who has been framed for the murder of a Mayoral candidate. The mechanisim of Mirrors edge is entirely first person, with stomach dropping leaps and parkur acrobatics carrying Faith from rooftop to rooftop. The voice guiding her is Merc, who at provides more commentary than omniscient directions. The path forward is given an overall tone, and Faith has “runner vision” where ineractive objects glow a blood red color. While the setup is a tad repetitive, its uniqueness grants it a lot of leeway. The backdrops are city skyline de jour, having the appearance of a futuristic skyscape painting. The effect is still real enough that you’ll get an adrenaline rush when you fall. The voices are well acted, though rather calm considering the gunfire and the near death falls. The sequences are cel-shaded in the style of XIII, though almost too cartoony. The story shapes up well, though it is rather short, and the gameplay is exciting, and just frustrating enough you’ll be compelled to complete levels just for the expereince of doing so. While some of the graphics are somewhat flat, thats a small nit in an otherwise fantastic deviat.
