I got this game for my husband a few months ago and he plays it constantly. He even has friends come over mainly because they want to hang out and play this game.

  7. chelle2906

My husband loves this game. He plays it most nights for a couple of hours. Definitely worth the money…..would recommend.

I guess that’s just how these sports franchises drain you of your money–releasing a new version each year, and discontinuing support of last year’s game online.

I have been getting this game for about 5 years now and I usually do quite a bit of testing on the other baseball game, MLB 2k and The Show definitely surpasses it in almost every way.ProsAmazing graphicsFluid game playA lot of different game modesConstantly being updated (to fix bugs)In depth difficulty tuningVery detailedConsTemporary freezing when first released (fixed now for in game)Minimal amount of musicFielding and throwing is very sensitiveOverall, if you are a baseball fan then this is the game to get. Don’t waste the money on MLB 2k13 otherwise you will be greatly dissapointed.

Please note that this is coming from a someone whose last experience with a baseball game, before MLB 12: The Show, was MVP Baseball 2003. Last year’s edition had a steep learning curve, and no decent way to ease into the finer points that make the difference between winning and losing. This year’s edition fixed that with it’s revamped beginner mode. I love how the difficulty doesn’t increase until certain fundamentals are mastered at each level, for both pitching and hitting. The levels also decrease if the CPU notices a slump in the fundamentals, and forces you to work the level back up. There appears to be doubt about it’s effectiveness, but the beginner mode of this game has made a fan out of me.Following roster updates throughout a season, and the ability to replay actual games in a given day throughout the season as they happen also make this game appealing, but none of it would matter if the game is practically unplayable for the baseball newbie. This game bridges the myriad of features that keep a baseball game interesting with the accessibility for the newbie to be able to learn how to play without getting overwhelmed by having all of the features of the game being thrown all at once.Comparing last year’s version with this year’s, there appears to be no sacrifice in any of the modes. If anything, they seem more polished and user-friendly when used in conjunction with the beginner mode. Finally, a baseball game that you can pick up and play, with difficulty settin.
