Modnation Racers is pretty much Mario Kart plus creative user-generated content, easy-to-use creation tools, an innovative boost meter and shielding, minus blue shells. I previously played the PSP version of the game and was so impressed I felt I had to have Road Trip as my #1 launch game. The controls are slick and it looks just as good as it does on PS3, but it does occasionally give off performance issues when tons of things are happening at once on-screen and at worst it can totally ruin your progress in a race. I’ve only run into FPS issues a few times during the eight or so hours I played this but it only lasted a few seconds each time. Either way, I’d say this and Wipeout tie as the two prettiest launch games, they’re just too stunning for me to comprehend.My biggest knock against the game? It was rushed to meet the Vita’s launch when Wipeout, Ridge Racer, F1 and Asphalt already give racing fans everything they need on the system. It clearly could’ve used more polish and it doesn’t have online play. Let me repeat for clarity: Does not have online play. For $30 I’d say this is totally worth having Modnation Racers even just in single-player mode on the go. Racing my friends’ ghost racers is also much easier than setting up a multiplayer match with them, so it honestly seems really suited for the handheld platform. Any way you look at it this was totally a missed opportunity to make the best handheld kart racer ever(yes, even above… Toy Story Racing on the Gameboy Colo.

I got the first edition bundle today and so far I love the Vita. I got this game ModNation along with 4 others. This is the first time I have played this game and so far from what I can see it looks and play quite fun.My biggest issue with ALL the vita games is that there is NO manuals or quick start guides in any of them. Come on at least print a quick start guide.I have never played this game before I have no idea what I doing, the right stick just shoots sparks out the side?Over all though very pleased with the gameUPDATE:There is an in game manual I found with game on the start menu. Also in career mode there are in game tutorials.The only minor moan is that the game is a little slow to load in-between races, however that should not deter you from the game, it great fun to play and has lots of replay value.If you like goofy racing then get this its Mario Kart for the Playstation.

only problem about this game right now is no online play but it makes up for it by letting you download lots of tracks karts and mods from the ps3 version right from the vita

This game has really been unfairly reviewed by a lot of people. The core racing is as fun as ever. All the tracks are brand new and it has all the features the PS3 version has except for online. Yeah, that does suck, but Uncharted: Golden Abyss doesn’t have online either and it’s still getting glowing reviews. Plus it’s $20 more! The only reason I deducted a star is because the long loading times still haven’t been fixed. You had to wait about a minute for a track to load on PS3 and you’re gonna have to do it here too. If you’re just restarting a track you’re already on it’s super quick. It’s loading the next new one that takes a while. But for $30 I definitely recommend it especially if you loved ModNation on PS3 or PSP.
