I only played this game just a little bit, but enough to know that it’s almost the same game as 2k10. I’m not saying 2k10 isn’t a great game. It is! But there’s no improvement. I hate it when there is a long year of speculation about the improvements next year’s game is supposed to have and it turns out the same as last year. There are a couple differences but don’t spend more money on 2k11 as apposed to ’10; it isn’t worth it.
Challenging basketball game that is harder to shoot and play D than in earlier B-ball games, but 2K11 does have good graphics. Some players and coaches look EXACTLY like they do on TV and others are a little off, but most look pretty realistic. The commentary is informative to the casual fan and does provide insight into each team’s 2009-2010 season. The dialogue does follow the flow of the game (unlike the occasional Madden glitch) but the commentary does not change very much and gets somewhat tiresome if you play a lot. I like the old 80’s and 90’s teams, and there is a lot of different styles of play to choose from (some more arcade-like, others, more realistic). Overall a good game, not ground breaking by any means, but a solid offering from 2k Sports.
Compared to all previous NBA 2K games, the pure gameplay and graphics are superior. Michael Jordan fans will find the "Jordan Challenges" fun yet difficult to accomplish. There are only two downsides to this game: the shot stick and "My Player" mode. The shot stick is only a problem as a beginner. You’ll need at least an hour of practice in games on difficulty "Pro" or higher to properly be able to know how the shot stick works.The "My Player" mode as a plethora of annoyances. It’s difficult to make a character’s face that doesn’t either look asian or black. You get penalized for when your team loses and you played maybe a minute in the game yourself. The drills are extremely difficult with your beginning skills except the shooting drill, which is easy but glitches with its reward when you get a gold medal. When playing in a game, the computer doesn’t know what a "good" or "bad" shot selection is. When one of your teammates screws up and doesn’t guard his man and their open man walks pass you, you’re assigned to defend him, leaving your original man wide open while your teammate Never covers your man but goes back to his; you get harshly penalized for this. If you don’t have the patience for four season, 82 games each season without any playoff appearances, losing records, and games where you want to pull your hair out, don’t play the "My Player" mode in this game.
I’ve had NBA 2K11 for few months now and I enjoy playing it. The controls are decent for what it is, I don’t expect perfection since it’s only a game. I mainly play the “My Player” mode where you develop your character with skill points made from drills and games. It’s very playable and I’ve gotten into the game to make my player better. Most important thing is to learn how to shoot, using the right thumbstick. You’ll get better as you play and you’ll have a great time playing alone, online or with friends. This is a good buy. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because your teammates act stupid most of the time and unless the ball is in your hands, they make stupid decision.
NBA 2k11…where to begin…well, if you’re a basketball fan you need to pick this up because not only is it the ONLY bball game out on the market currently, it’s the best it’s ever been in the series 2k has offered. And trust me, I’ve played NBA Live (EA Sports version of bball) and it was fun too, but it was missing the flow of animation this game has and the overall presentation this game has, also plenty more game modes are offered in 2k. If you don’t wish to shell out $40-50 on 2k12 then get this version and download the last rosters on the online feature. There will still be differences among real life rosters, but if you take the time and look up each teams roster and make the moves yourself you could save yourself a pretty penny. Of course you’ll be missing the rookies but honestly there’s only a few you need to create to make this game an updated experience. The gameplay in 2k12 has actually been rated lower than in 2k11 (more glitches in 12). So it’s up to you, if you’re willing to shell out the money for 2k12 go that route, but if you’re a true NBA fan getting 2k11 will save you money and be a better experience.
Very difficult game , you have to know your controls to the point where if you havent been practicing continuesly your gonna fall off , it is SO HARD , to score in this game if you don’t know exactly what your doing , especially in the key or in a slam dunk contest ( i hardly ever loose and i still don’t even know how to dunk it in traffic or @ slam dunk competitions ) . Ive played over a 100 games on this release and i find it a difficult game to master , although ive managed . i like simple things and simple games , if i want complicated ill goe to work lol . . . .
Great game! The Total Stick control takes some getting used to though, for sure. Nice graphics, presentation, and feeling of accomplishment for new players when you finally win.The biggest piece for me though, is the teams from when I actually enjoyed and played basketball myself.I purchased this Basketball game with the intention of never buying another; this game has the only teams I have ever cared about. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase.
I was disappointed with the quality of graphics. I know this game was made in 2010, but the likenesses of the players to their real counterparts leaves something to be desired. I’m having trouble getting used to the controls as well. They are not intuitive. I like the homage to MJ in this game, and also like that you can play as the teams he faced for his milestone. I bought this game to re-unite Harden with KD and Westbrook because as a Thunder fan, I miss this team.

Really captures the atmosphere, mannerisms, and mechanics of playing basketball.The presentation is outstanding – broadcast, cut scenes, player likeness.This is the MLB the show of basketball. It doesn’t get better than this.Get 2k11 if you’re only playing offline.

I have been out of game scene for quite a while. But when I bought xbox 360 with kinect for my 9 year old, I had to pick up some real game. This was definitely the right choice. The graphics? The other day, I thought my son was watching an NBA game at an odd hour. Turns out he was playing this game. It’s that good. I can definitely feel the differences in the way each players play and move. This is just an all out great title. I’m glad I got back into games with this one.

It just another sport game and I love it. I am getting all my games from retrolio now. I wished I would have known about this years ago. So far everything I have gotten is like brand new and I am so happy w/ the prices. All shipments from all shops have been really speedy. Saves me a trip into town. More time to play lol. If you don’t care if it’s the 2012 version, don’t need the new rosters. Then the price difference is great enough to just go with the 2K11 version. The game is very fun, and throwback teams like the old Bird Celtics and Kemp Supersonics are souper fun.

If you plan on being a casual player of this game, don’t bother. They use every possible combination of buttons to allow for realistic gameplay, I suppose. After a few days I was tired of trying how to learn to play this game and haven’t picked it up since.I recently tried to give it another shot after having it collect dust for the last three years. It’s still literally the worst game I’ve ever attempted playing. It’s everything a sports should not be. Twenty years of waiting for a game developers to make a decent basketball game.

I am now a person that doesn’t buy new sports games every single year anymore–it’s a budget issue. But I only ordered this game back in earlier in 2013 and am not disappointed. It keeps me busy and the Michael Jordan challenge is somewhat difficult. Overall, it is worth buying.

bought this used around the end of 211 and at first it was okay but after using it on and off running from the HD not the cd turns out the cd was scratched pretty bad to begin with. I only played on "my player" so never noticed but when i tried to play on association it would crash or freeze the game. It would happen playing with friends when they are over too. I thought it was my system problem so I got a newer 360 slim to replace my elite. Still had the same problem so i just figured the game was scratched and bought and downloaded 2k13 from xbox instead of getting a hard copy. That’s what i get for trusting used games.

This is one of the best NBA games out there right next to NBA 2k13 and 2k15. The graphics are good for it’s time and the option to play with the legendary teams and team Jordan is really fun. Plus there is a bonus feature where you can play as The classic Chicago teams with MJ.
