It seems that Kinect developers are either unable or unwilling to take chances. Most Kinect games seem to follow the same basic patterns–you dance, you pose in a certain position, you run in place, you pretend to turn an imaginary steering wheel, and so on.I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first heard of Majesco’s NBA Baller Beats. But after playing it, I can honestly say it is one of the best Kinect games to date. The best way to describe NBA Baller Beats is that it’s like Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero, but using a basketball. You basically do basketball drills to a beat. This may sound ridiculous, even sacrilegious to some, but I found it to be a wonderfully compelling game that can appeal to both kids who are just starting out with basketball, as well as experienced ball handlers who want to hone their skills.Majesco has done a lot to make the point that this is a game that hard-core basketball players can enjoy. It comes bundled with an official full-size Spalding NBA Game Ball Series Outdoor ball (worth about $20 in itself). This isn’t a toy–this is an official NBA size and weight rubber ball that you can take out to the court. In fact, the ball was so real that I couldn’t use it in my third-floor apartment without the neighbors downstairs thinking there was an earthquake (in order to write this review, I ended up replacing the basketball with a playground ball which didn’t work quite as well but did give me a good feel for the game). When you start playing Bal.

this game is finally something that will have a positive effect on your non gaming life. coming with a spalding ball makes life easy for you(you can also use the ball on the real court). the game is loads of fun as it caters to all different levels of ballers. make sure you have enough room around your xbox area or this will not be a pretty sight if you are a parent as you watch your son mis-handle the ball going flying into your grandmothers vase. the kinect picks up every small move as you dribble to the finest tunes from kanye west and others.overall this is a must have-especially if you want to give an original holiday item to your jordan wanna be.

I took a chance on this game because I love playing basketball and NBA Baller Beats was at a great price. After playing it for a few hours, I must say that it’s extremely fun but it is somewhat difficult to pick up and play. Some of the moves aren’t properly explained and the advanced moves are way too difficult to perform, especially if you’re limited in space like me (Kinect sensor from my area of play is a maximum of 7 1/2 feet away).Overall, I would still recommend this game because it features good music, it makes your active, and I felt that my handling skills have improved, especially my off hand(left). Keep in mind I didn’t use the ball that came with it because it’s rubber and a bit cheap. Since I play basketball regularly, I used my Nike Elite Basketball (http://www.retrolio.com/Nike-Mens-Elite-Championship-Basketball/dp/B002QAGZC4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357179828&sr=8-1&keywords=Nike+Elite+Basketball)

2 of my grandchildren play basketball and bought this for the xbox kinnect they set it up in the garage to try it out said it was fun and a real workout

Could not wait to get this ever since I saw it was coming out. Both my kids are avid Basketball players and thought this would really be fun and improve their game. I can already tell it will. You have to dribble with your head up…100% of the time, look down and your are going to miss something. I am also VERY impressed with the Kinects ability to tell which hand you are dribbling with, and dont even try to get away with trying to fool the Kinect into believing your crossover was a behind the back dribble…it knows! The Kinect can tell if you are doing the trick correctly almost 100% of the time. The game has 3 difficulties (rookie, pro and baller) and you try to time your dribble to the beat with either your right or left hand. Staggered throughout there are also ‘tricks’ in between dribble beats that you must perform to get multipliers. The tricks on rookie are limited to crossovers/around the world, dribble under leg/pump fake and side pass. Rookie mode is a great warmup, I find Pro to be quite challenging and fun. There are 30ish tracks and none available yet for download, but I hope some are coming soon. As long as new tracks keep coming, this game will be in heavy rotation in our house!FYI- the ball they give you is not ideal, very ‘bouncy’ and difficult to control. I thought the ball originally had some sensor or something, but actually you can use any ball. We use my son’s evolution ball and it works great, but any ball would do.

Very good for practice basic skill at home

This is a great game and I really hope more like it start appearing on the market for use with the Kinnect. It can be really high energy, the music selection is decent, a bit heavy on the hip hop side though…some slower tracks as well.PROS: easy to pick up quickly, variety of scenarios, variety of movesCONS: doesnt work well on carpet really…better for hardwood floors
