This game is hard for newcomers and the learning curve is a bit steep. The game is NOT and arcade game (think of it as Forza Motorsport with wings, but not as polished). The two most difficult parts are learning to accurately drop bombs on target and to evade enemy missiles (the latter being the hardest). To become good you will have to practice, especially with evading missiles, you will just have to get a feel for it (that’s the honest truth). This game rewards you for playing over and over again, you find yourself getting better and better. Once you get the hang of it you will have allot of fun doing the customizable missions. The landings and take-off’s are very well done. Landing on an aircraft carrier is done exceptionally well in this game.I would set up missions that force me to land mid mission (to re-fuel and re-arm) which I really enjoy. You can also make the enemies as difficult as you wish. Watching replays of these missions are quite enjoyable. The only bad thing about this game is the ground graphics up close (they’re only nice looking from up in the air), however the actual jet models are really detailed and nice to look at.I sincerely hope they do a sequel to this game for next gen.

I received an advance copy of this set and it’s spectacular and is reasons. I can tell you having only gotten to see a few episodes of the series total that the show itself is entertaining.

  3. Hmm I cant think of one

OMG first of all, I must say I have no idea how people say that this game’s graphics suck…. They are amazing the detail is breathtaking. Everything is realistic! I don’t know how people say the graphics suck. Another cool thing is that you dont have 60 missles which is rediculous. You have what a plane can carry.

Pros over Ace Combat 5, 6, 7, and H.A.W.X 2:1. Versatile, customized weapons load with realistic weapons and number, as well as physical performance: For example, in this game, you can load up an F-15E Strike Eagle with 8 AIM-120C AMRAAMs, along with 6 AGM-65H Mavericks, and 1 2000-pound JDAM or Laser-guided GBU-16, or 1 CBU-103 INS/GPS-guided cluster bomb, or a 600-Galllon drop fuel tank, or if you just want to bomb ground targets, you can load up to 13 MK-20 Cluster bombs or 13 CBU-103s or 5 of 2000-lb JDAMS or Laser guided bombs, and still have room for 4 AIM-120C AMRAAMs along with the 6 AGM-65H Maverick missiles. There’s also a published trick of having unlimited ammo by adding the number "1" to the end of the save file name such as: Save1. This helps you save a lot of time by not having to land on a nearby base or aircraft carrier just to reload your weapons.2. Focused and engaging replay video with camera following missile travel all the way to target impact, as well as great views of aircraft maneuvers. Very detailed, and accurate rendering of combat aircraft, tanks, ships, weapons, and other combat systems in HD quality, much like what you can expect from a computer-based simulation. If you loved PS2’s Aero Elite Combat Academy, this game is like a more refined version of that with far better graphics.3. Realistic physical characteristics of aircraft and weapons type: For example, the AIM-54C Phoenix missile carried by the F-14B Tomcat can actually travel m.

Lots of depth to this game thanks to the aircraft selection/controls and weapon customization. Those interested in and expecting next-gen specs will be disappointed but if your more interested in flight sim gameplay with a decent amount of aircraft attributes/physics that need to be kept in check, it will certainly satisfy. From a framerate perspective, I’m not a good judge but I can tell you that I didn’t notice any slow down or stuttering. It’s worth mentioning that I was impressed by the size of the maps in online multiplayer. I was flying in a straight line for a few real-time minutes and didn’t hit any boundaries. Just when I thought there would be no more ground targets and that I should turn around, new islands and enemys appeared. It appeared to be gradual with no pop-up.Note: the sound is in stereo by default and needs to be switch to 5.1 surround sound. The sound is excellent in 5.1.They also utilize the rumble in the controllers very well. The menu system is adequate. The only weak spot is the mission briefings. They are done with cheezy stills and voice overs. Luckily, if you want, you can skip them and go right to your aircraft selection. As for the multiplayer, the arena mode is where it’s at. It not strictly dogfights. There are enemy command points and other sea and land targets to take out. There are so many ways to strategize when you have team mates that communicate well. The more you learn what everything does, weapons to select, maneuvers/altitude change.

Great flying game for people interested in more realistic flying. No Ace Combat here. If there’s four missiles under the wings, that’s what you get. Kind of short for the first play through, and the difficulty scale is a roller coaster which lead to many rage quits.

Bought this game a few years ago as I was just desperate for a good modern air combat game. Having tried Ace Combat and a number of other console titles I decided to take the plunge on this game, even though it was almost 10 years old by the time I got it.To this day I think I have logged more hours into this game than any other on my X360. There are definitely some design issues around the game but if you dig underneath this is the best modern flight sim on any console. Flight models are great and varied between all the planes, realistic loadouts, blackouts/redouts, beaming and f-pole work as they do in PC sims, all the cockpits seem to be accurately represented, solid ACM from the AI enemies, and a somewhat useful wingman who responds to my directions.Even with my PS4 I still find time to boot up the old 360 and get some sorties in with this game. The Arena mode is the heart and soul of the game, very reminiscent of DID’s Total Air War back in the day. If my 360 were to die tomorrow I would get another one just so I could play this game.

I’m looking for a realistic, challenging, flight simulator.Terrific simulation and so realistic. Pull to many positive G’s and you black out. Pull to many negatives G’s and blood rushes up your TV screen, rendering the “pilot’s” vision useless. It’s impossible to deploy landing gears at 300 knots and you must deploy the tail hook for carrier landing operations. Beware children, this is not an arcade game. This is purely a simulator. Perfect.

  9. JohnMichaelJames

I am exceptionally biased. From the days of the original Gunship (1980’s) I have loved every game where I get a chance to fly. This is just one of those games. Great!

  10. William Ray

This was ok, but not what I expected it to be, It is more arcade based that actual flight related like flightsim x. If you just want to fly around in the sky shooting other planes well this one is for you.
