This is not an arcade flying game, it can be played that way but the controls suffer from it. I will discuss the flaws first. The overall presentation as far as cutscenes go and story is quite bad, the cartoon style briefings leave a lot to be desired. They lip sync and don’t move while they brief you. The music is terrible, but its easy to turn it off or use your own music. All the things that make the game bad are pre-flight things, once you get to the runway, everything changes! The gameplay is great IMO, graphics are good other than the close ground terrain when flying low. Dogfighting is a thrill and tough, landing safely will make you proud, the planes all have different radar sections and some have a little stealth so they are tough to target and track. There are lots of planes and they all handle differently, also lots of different weapons to arm them. Before missions and online you can load your plane with what you like. Wanna dogfight other planes mainly?, bring lots of sidewinders and AAMRAAMS, need to attack a ship?, grab some harpoon missiles, got some ground targets?, use laser guided bombs and cluster bombs or slam-mer missiles from miles away. The freedom to equip your plane to suit your style of play is great. Some planes are good for air to ground battle, and some are best at dogfighting, using the right craft for the job is crucial.Single player is kinda easy and repetitive but it serves to unlock more planes, and it’s good practice so i don’t mind. Also, th.

I’ve seen many reviews that claim this game is slow, infuriating, not like Ace Combat or not like JASF, etc. Well…. it’s not. Over G is simply a combat flight sim – the only one for the XBOX 360 console. If you’re looking for arcade-style fighter games, stick with Ace Combat, HAWX and JASF. If you want to get a more realistic feel for what it would be like as a true fighter pilot, Over G is your ticket. Accurate plane specs, armament loadout details and cockpits. True-to-life take-offs & landings. Harrowing dogfights & ATG missions (Sure…. getting blown out of the sky by 1 ATA missile or SAM is frustrating, but welcome to real-life, friends!). Granted, the missions are long, but exactly how quickly do you think you could complete these missions in a real-life situation? The graphics are actually pretty good for a 2006 game (That’s ELEVEN years ago, kids!). Compare Over G Fighters to Aero Elite Combat Academy for the PS2 console and you are in the ball park. Besides…. it’s actually very entertaining watching your wingman in close quarters as you are both ascending into the (not-so) friendly skies. :) Watch out though…. I’ve been knocked out of the sky when my wingman suddenly does a sharp-banking turn and slams right into me (Yeah… it happens. The wingmen aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer….). Overall, I give Over G 5 stars for realism, playability, re-playability and witty AI. Besides… what more do you want from a combat flight sim created in 2006? :) Enjo.

I have read many reviews for this game stating that the planes handle sluggish and are not realistic. I do not agree and in fact the reason the plane is sluggish is probably because you are flying with your air brakes on which causes the controller to vibrate.I have played the game on easy and expert and it is great fun both ways. If you do decide to play on expert it will really make you think and you dont have time to second guess yourself. Is it hard to dodge missles? No, not if you know what kind they are. If you do not see “Launch” then you are being faced with a IR missle and turning on your afterburner will just draw the missle in. Instead, cut power and hit flare/chaff until threat is gone.I really love this game and is very very similar to the old F-15 and F-16 games from the day. I still cant land on a carrier though. If you want to fly and shoot down planes and not get the feel of what real combat is kinda like, do not get this game. This is as close as it gets for many of us and the game is awesome.

    Great oldie.

Okay, I have been playing this for a couple of days now. I have mainly played the campaign portion of the game. I tried to go online but there isn’t many games to pick up on right now. Hopefully that will change as more and more people pick this game up. I am a die hard flight sim lover. I have several flight sims on the computer as well as several of the Ace Combat series. I wil say that the detail of the airplanes and armament on this game are extremely high and the jets look great. There is bound to be comparisons of this game to the Ace Combat series. While comparing these two are like comparing apples and oranges, they each have their own sweet spots. Over G strives on more realism than Ace Combat. While you can fly on a novice level, it severely hampers your flight abilities. Once you switch over to the more realistic normal mode, you can enjoy barrel rolls and tight turns and the response feels great. The novice mode feels like your flying through mud.You can set your plane up before each mission either with a recommended setup or choosing your own missile selection. There is a well appreciated range of missile and bombs to suit every mission. While yes, you can have a great view in the cockpit, I have yet to see a true 360 degree field of vision. It is more like 280 degrees. The missions so far have been varied nicely. The main disappointment I have had is with the music selection. The Ace Combat series had great music and not only that but great chatter on the radio th.

I play this game all the time and I believe that it is the most realistic one out there. You really have to give it a chance and get used to it. All the flight instrumentation’s work in the planes too. There is none of that “painted on crap.” You can also land on aircraft carriers and that such. In naval aircraft such as the F/A-18 there is even instruments for landing on aircraft carriers, all of which are functional. The graphics are pretty good as-well, mainly with the planes. If you’re looking for a realistic game this is for you. And don’t get upset and call names at it because you’re not patient. You will need patience to “learn” this game. Be sure to change your controls in the beginning. They try to start you out with some arcadey crap. If you don’t change the controls to realistic you wont even be able to do a simple barrel roll.
