Unfortunately, the game which was sent to me was defective. That is NOT the shop’s fault, because it was a brand new copy, sealed, and it happens. It’s not the first time I’ve gotten a defective video game, DVD, CD, etc… I sent the shop an email, and hope to hear back soon.I could only play up to the fourth gym before my game crashed. I have restarted the game and it freezes a lot. After beating Ecruteak City’s gym, if I save and turn the game off, I’ll never be able to reload it again. So, my point here is that I can only comment on that far into the game.I started with Cyndaquil. It has a moderate growth, not too fast, not too slow. Good stats, and good for beginners (though I am not a beginner at Pokemon games). Chikorita was a no because even though I like it a lot, it takes a long time for it to get good attacks and stat moves. Totodile learns Water Gun at level 6 and Rage at level 8, so if you want to play a faster game, choose this one. Usually for my main team I go with grass, fire, water and electric, then pick two other types at random. This time I just abandoned grass completely. Caught a Spearow first, which is a really great flying type. It’s quick, and it learns Pursuit early on, which is great for Ecruteak Gym. I also got a Caterpie, which isn’t super impressive until it evolves in Butterfree. Butterfree is my strategy Pokemon for sure. I was elated to find a Mareep next. Mareep has overall great stats, but I find getting a good nature a little tough. Still,.

I had a blast playing this game. It was so much fun what you can do that the end of the game and stuff. I play my brother gold version couple times and the battery die on it so I didn’t get to play it no more. I am happy they remaster this games with more stuff you can do on the game. Buy yourself a copy and relive your pokemon adventures again.

Bought this game back in the day in person from Gamestop, but bought it here for my SO. I remember loving this game and the new features it brought over the previous generation and the additions it made over the original Gold/Silver line. If you can get one with the PokeWalker, get it. It’s very easy to level up Pokemon like that and there technically are ways to trick it into thinking you’re walking.

My kids grew up on Pokemon and this one is one of their favorites for their DS game system. My son lost his and was heartbroken until I could replace it with another one. He said he preferred a new one, as a used one would have someone else’s data on it. Great game, highly recommended for long time enjoyment for the Pokemon game lover.

I love this game so much, and the service was great. Pokémon has always been part of my childhood and buying this game takes me back to the good old days!! Definitely worth the buy!!

I started playing Pokemon back in the first generation, Red/Blue on the original Game Boy. I got out of the portable gaming scene for a while, but came back with Ruby/Sapphire for the GBA. Got Diamond/Pearl on my DS. So this was the only generation I missed out on. I’d been hearing for years that the second generation was the best, and now that I have it, I can absolutely understand where that came from. This game is far more challenging than any of the other generations. The gyms are designed to punish you for trying to play it like first generation, with Flying and Bug being strong against Grass types. The starters are all pure single typed Pokemon through all of their evolutions, something never done before or since. It also includes most of the first generation game, playable after you defeat the Elite Four (and possibly assemble your National Dex. I’m not quite far enough to say yet). It keeps the Wi-Fi trading introduced in Diamond/Pearl. There is nothing wrong, and everything right with this game. If you have enjoyed any Pokemon game of any generation, I strongly urge you to pick this up.Of special note is the PokeWalker, a pedometer that allows you to gather Pokemon and items you’d otherwise be unable to get, or would be difficult to get, all while simply going for a walk. It even lets you earn a level on whatever Pokemon you load onto it before you go. It’s extremely easy to use, and a very fun addition to the series. I hope it comes back with Pokemon:.

This game, like the Pokémon: Soulsilver Version, is Poke-walker (pedometer) driven. It has helped my kids become motivated movers. The players gain points by the number of recorded steps they take. I have given this game 5 stars because when compared to the hundreds of other games this has a healthy benefit to it. In my Opinion, Nintendo needs to put more of this type of game out for players. I do suggest a lanyard for the Poke-walker, this helps them not end up in the laundry or falling off "somewhere" during the day.

This is the best Pokemon game you can get for the Nintendo DS.Its an updated version of Pokemon Gold, sure. But it is also so much more than that.It beats the heck outta some of the newer ones, and it just…. keeps Pokemon closer to its roots.I’m not saying Nintendo or Game Freak have changed the recipe for Pokemon games with the newer generation games, but if your an old school Pokemon fan that grew up on the older Gameboy games like Blue, Red, Silver, Gold, and my all time favorite: YELLOW!, you will find this more appealing and maybe a little nostalgic compared to the off-beatness of some of the newer ones (if your an old school fan, you’ll probably get what I’m trying to say by "off-beat". Something just don’t feel the same about it in the newer ones).

I gotta say as pokemon games go this one is above average, its the same old pokemon that we’ve grown to love but a little more tedious is the beginning compared to a few of the other versions and the save times are extremely long compared to some of the older games. Fret not! for this is indeed everything you’ve come to love and expect from all previous versions, the gold edition has been beautifully remastered to all its former glory and it has an added bonus; THE POKEWALKER. Now when i heard of this thing i scoffed and said most players would just toss this aside and not even bother with it but I’ve eaten my words and i gotta say the pokewalker is one of the most creative things I’ve seen in years. You simply transfer a pokemon from your pc into this wonderful little device and go for a stroll, during your walk you accumulate points or “watts” and can use these to catch all new pokemon or find rare items, when you’re done just transfer the pokemon back to your ds and voila! I don’t think a day has gone by since I’ve gotten this game that i haven’t wanted to walk my favorite pokemon if you aren’t gonna buy this for the game buy it for the pokewalker!

The product functions perfectly, though it came without the (unessisary) pokewalker gimic, it brought me back to those days exploring the Jotoh region with my cindaquill. the games story is essentially the same as the classic gold version, but with vastly improved graphics and combat mechanics. I would recomend to anyone who wants to go on a nostalgia trip (like me) or to any kid that likes video-games but doesn’t want one that’s too tough for them to beat.
