This was purchased as a gift. The receiver enjoyed the game. It performed as it should. It arrived on time and as described.
This is an awesome, fun game. The first one wasn’t as fun, and I didn’t finish it, because the capture system was obnoxious. Both games use a system where you have to make a certain number of loops around the Pokemon with your stylus to capture it and then later use its abilities. In the first, if the pokemon touched the loop, or the loop was hit by an attack, you had to start the process over again. And the loops had to be near perfect. In this one, if you have to stop for a second, or if the loop gets hit, you just start up with the meter that fills up as you go in the same place, and the loops don’t need to be nearly as perfect.
Well, exactly as the title suggests, it’s pretty similar to the last Ranger game but it has a few more perks. The quests available are really good side tracks when you don’t want to do mission after mission (and are a great way to buil up your styler’s power as each quest clear boosts your defences), you end up with a farm of partner pokemon you can swap about with which is handy when going to different locations, the story line is more proggressive than previous and you can use more than one loop-chain to catch pokemon which is REALLY handy considering I spent a good 15 mins trying to catch the previous game’s steelix :S.The game play is a tad slow to start but it’s a great way to get back into the hang of things or learn the tricks of the trade if you havn’t played the last one. The variability of Pokemon is much greater and your captures are graded (C,B,A,S) since you can use more than one loop set now.Even once the game is complete you have heaps more missions and areas available to you, not to mention that ‘Boss’ Pokemon are scattered around previous locations from earlier missions.The one thing that does get annoying is the Move Assists such as Drifloon’s airlift, in some places you ahve to use a multitude of Pokemoves to cover a very small distance which rapidly looses appeal after the second visit or so.Over all though, it’s a definite buy wether you’ve played the last one before. Just be ready to do the first aspect (1 1/2 to 2 hours)of it in a oner so you can get on.

Compared to basically most of all the other pokemon games, this is definitely something out of the routine. And I really like that.With the missions and quests that you get, it’s just sort of something new every time~ and it’s great being able to see the pokemon before you have to battle it, that way you can avoid them (the slower ones anyway) and not have to spend time fighting or running away when you don’t want to do that in the first place.I just really enjoy this game, but I warn! If you don’t have something protecting your touch screen, you really should get it, because doing all the “capturing” will seriously wear out your screen faster.I’ve been playing the game for a few days now, and my protection seal already has a lot of circular scratches on it hahah. That is the only downside of this I see.
This game is way better than the first installment in the Pokemon Ranger series for the DS. It is very similar in terms of graphics and gameplay, yet offers significant improvements. For example, one doesn’t need to circle their targets quite as furiously as before, which had previously led to blisters on my fingers. This one is slightly easier yet no less fun. Also, the ability to send certain special Pokemon over to the Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum games is a plus.
The Ranger series of games is actually really different from the main RPG style of play than the regular series (and Mystery Dungeon). It has more of a puzzle solving feel to it. Pokemon are not caught with a ball, but by drawing rings around them ( although its not as simple as it sounds). You can only keep 3 Pokemon but each has a power to use to solve a particular problem I.e restore health, destroy obstacles etc. graphics are great and are consistent with the rest of the series. If you’re expecting turn based action, don’t buy but if you’re a Pokemon fan and want to try something different, pease go ahead…
The product is good, but the shipper took an incredibly log time (weeks) to send me the product. Not a reflection on the game. But this is a product review. My kids loved it.
Well, I’ll have to admit, the reason I bought this game in the first place was because I enjoyed the Role Playing of the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl games. But of course, this is not the same.The story is, you are a Pokemon Ranger, so your job is to help everybody you meet in order to progress in the game. You start off in the school, which was actually really enjoyable and was my favorite part of the game. And then, as you graduate and do missions, you will gain ranks, until you get the coveted Level 10.I love the concept of the capturing pokemon with your stylus, instead of effortlessly trying to weaken it, and end up killing it. But some problems I had was the fact I couldn’t really do much after I finished the game. I mean, sure there were a whole load of missions that unlock after beating the game, but the requirements for these missions I don’t like.Some of these missions require you to throw out all the pokemon with you, just to show them to the person and they run away afterwords. You love the pokemon with you, but then you just get rid of them? Granted in the show, they described Rangers as only using pokemon when needed, to help them with their quests. So if having all your faves in your team is what you want, I’d suggest playing Diamond and Pearl or Heart Gold and Soul Silver.So, needless to say, this game is sitting in my room, collecting dust. So, If youmust have this game, just to play and find out it’s not for you, I’d recommend selling it to your nearest Game Stop f.

My 8YO son received this as a Christmas present. He loves it. He told me it is one of the best pokemon games he’s ever played. He really enjoys the quests which keep him interested by getting progressively more difficult. He has been an extra good kid since he got this game so as not to lose any playing time.

An interesting plot. Loved the BGM. It’s good that you can get many partner pokemon, which can be arguably one of the most important factors that contribute to the overall enjoyment of the game. After all, you wouldn’t want to be stuck with a lame partner.Definitely better than the first series.The manaphy egg code was unused. :)
