Let`s get one thing out of the way: this is no Half-Life beater.It`s definetely the best fps out on the ps2 right now though, as it has this groovy geo-mod engine.This allows you to enter a new dimension of fps gaming,as it allows you to blow holes in walls, unlike quake 3, half-life and unreal, which only showed bullet holes on walls, even when you used a rocket launcher!It ain`t perfect though, as there is some pretty awful slow-down when the screen gets busy.

this game is so great, mostly because of the multiplayer option. i play the game every day with my friends and it never gets boring! the single player option is also good but it has a few downsides. 4 all of u who love shooter gamez——- this game is defedently 4 u (only if u have friends)

I’ve been looking forward to getting this game since I first heard word of it. And now that I have it…WOW. Fantastic graphics, great music and sound effects, amazing gameplay, and who can forget the oh-so-fun Geo-Mod technology! All these qualities add up to Red Faction, a must-buy game for any PS2 owner.

Wow. This was a disappointment. The game hardly takes advantage of the super-duper cool GEO-MOD technology. This is pretty much just a normal first-person shooter with a few walls you can blow up thrown in to sell the game. VERY FEW THINGS CAN BE BLOWN UP. People may say "instead of pasting a flat texture on the wall where you shot it, you will actually blow a hole in it!" This is usally false. The majority of the opportunities you have to interact with something by shooting it, the object or surface does NOT get destroyed. Rather, it just gets colored a different color. Oh, sure, there are some instances where you can tunnel through a wall with a rocket launcer, but the whole game by no means takes advantage of the opportunity. The geo-mod stuff really is just a gimmick. Don’t buy the game expecting most of the time spent blowing holes in the wall. Also, the game is a bit short. I finished it within five days.This is also very interesting: I was playing the multiplayer with a bot and I was making my own secret tunnel/cave in the rock with my rocket launcher, when all of a sudden, I couldn’t make any more holes! The game, so not to take up too much RAM of the computer (PS2 in my case) actually disabled the geo-mod capability and so when I shot the rock, nothing happened! There is a limited number of times you can shoot the rock!!!! Unbelievably cheapo! Disregard the geo mod and you still have a nice game, thus earning four stars. Don’t listen to t.

I have a n64 and I played the ps2 at my friends house. I have to say that I was EXTREMELY impressed with the single and the two player games. The storyline was easy to follow as I progressed through the game. The graphics beat any game I have seen before including PS2 games like Rumble Racing and NBA Live. The weapons were apropriate for the storyline(like weapons that you could blast tunnels with, it is, after all, a game about revolting miners). Because of that game I was inspired to get the PS2. A must to rent or even buy.

Is a fun game that cool weapons with the missle launcher you can blow a whole in wall!Now a word of warning!It will work on all ps2 systems, but it may not work on the slim ps2! I have three and found it will not work on our slim ps2. But will work on the older systems!graphics are super cool for a first person shooter!Controls take a bit to get used to when changing weapons, but once you do they are pretty easy!Sound is real good. The sound it makes when you blow things up is cool!What I like is that it is a 1-2 player game! SO you can play with a friend!Loading time is not to bad either! It is pretty quick! I do not like waiting to long for that! I was pleased with that!Training mode is a big up to teach you the ins and out of the game! It will help you very much in game play!I like the rocket launcher best!You play as parker in one player mode! I do not want to spoil the game so I will say no more!Hope this review helps! Assume the role of Parker, a worker toiling in mines run by the Ultor Corporation far beneath the surface of Mars. The miners are suffering from inhuman living conditions and a strange, deadly disease called the Plague that is suddenly sweeping through their ranks. The miners’ anger and resentment are ready to boil over, and it’s up to you to provide the spark to start a rebellion against Ultor. Your goal is to stay alive long enough to bring down Ultor and solve the mystery of the Plague. This journey spans from gritty subterranean mines to Ultor’s pristine science and nanotech labs to the surface of Mars and even onto satellites orbiting high above the planet.This game is a must for FPS fans. It has new technolgy that allows you to breck the walls and some structers with heavy aritilary. While this is a cool trick it doesn’t get implimented that offten in the game and could have been played without it.This is a FPS with in the idea of the single player. It is long and immersive. The game shines here the controls and the graphics (for the most part) are great. The only thing that outshines the graphics and story is the great sound FX and atomospher. The high tech world and sound plays out alot like Half Life. Good stuff.The inclusion of a miltiplayer game is also good but nothing to special, still it helps replay value.

this game is one of the easiest games i have ever played. it dosent let you know when you have beaten the level (if you even call it a level) and is sometimes boring.

I recently bought Red Faction for the Playstation 2 game console.RF is definitely one of the best first person shooters I have ever played. You get a huge array of different weapons to shoot the crap out Ultor’s gaurds. Movement is easy and simple, however, short and narrow bridges and catwalks will sorely test your paitence. RF’s storyline is “exciting”. Hey, you’re a miner on Mars about to rebel against a major mining facility. The abiity to alter your environment is a sure plus, blasting your way through walls or a group of gaurds can be entertaining. The game constantly progresses throughout the entire story, I think that gives it a sense of realism and makes you feel as though you’re not stuck at a level-choose menu. Frequent loads between parts of your mission can be annoying, but its worth it. The graphics are excellent. Real life movement and gun sway are done properly. The best graphical feature in this game is the weapon-reload animation… for once they look real (which is why i didnt like Goldeneye for N64). Red Faction reminds me of Unreal Tournament, Especially in multiplayer against bots. Fast moving, large amounts of munitions and weapons, bloodshed and destruction all around you. The gameplay in both multiplayer and single player is increibly fast.If you’re known to “camp” during games… dont try it here! Campers will almost always find themselves gunned down in their little burrows. The single player missions are lengthy. You start out unarmed and literaly.

Okay, I’ve played a lot of awesome FPSs in my life, like Medal of Honor and Half-Life, but this game blows them all away. Great graphics, an okay storyline and some awesome multiplayer gaming combine to make the perfect game. The sound is awesome, oh, and by the way, if you liked the movie Total Recall, this game will bring back a few memories. The Geo-Mod feature is cool, in a deathmatch versus 5 really hard bots, I took a rocket launcher, blew a hole in a wall, hid in there with a sniper rifle and kicked some butt!!The deaths leave something to be desired, it isn’t like in Medal of Honor, when you shoot someone in the leg, they hobble around limping,etc, the dying is all the same regardless of where you shoot the enemy. All in all, who whould not want this game?

Red Faction takes place on Mars in the near future. You play as Parker, a miner lured to Mars by the Ultor Corporation’s promises of success and adventure. However, reality quickly sets in that miners are severely beaten and a plague is running rampant throughout the barracks. The opening scene shows Parker as a witness to a brutal murder of a fellow minor. It is survival of the fittest- kill or be killed- and a viscous rebellion ensues. It is your job to bring down the Ultor Corporation. To aid you on your quest, you are offered a wide array of weapons of mass destruction, 15 to be exact. There are a total of 20 levels of gameplay and 5 vehicles to steal. Gameplay is perhaps the most important feature of Red faction. THQ introduces a new style of gameplay interface known as Geo-Mod Technology. The first of its kind, Red faction allows you to modify your surrounding environment by blasting your way through walls, doors, and even ceilings. If you can’t find the key- make your own door! Movement throughout the game requires the use of the analog control sticks. Movement is smooth and relatively easy to control. Also, all aspects of movement, including pitch sensitivity and analog function, can be adjusted in the options menu. Red faction offers a multiplayer mode of up to 2 people and 6 bots. There is a wide array of maps to choose from, however they are fairly limited in size. The graphics in Red Faction are perhaps the game’s biggest downfall. Bodies are relatively blo.

I consider Red Faction a classic 3D FPS during what I call the golden age of FPS’s. Games like Deus Ex, Half Life, Timesplitters, Unreal Tournament, and Quake 3 Arena were the games that my generationn grew up on and played incessantly.At its core, Red Faction is a rather straight forward fps. The story is a classic one man vs the world narrative set in the future on Mars. Parker is the player character, a young guy who found a mining job on the red planet, dissatisfied with what his parents have forced him to do with his life. The mining company he works for is a corrupt and abusive organization that treats its miners like slaves, which prompts an uprising from a group of miners called the Red Faction, whom Parker is a part of now.Main Gripe: The reason I said “one man against the world” is because during actual gameplay, you are literally there doing all the work that the Red Faction group should be doing together. Sabotaging this, kidnapping this person, control these tanks and subs, flying into space, and assassinating this person. It reminds me an awful lot like Master Chief’s or Gordon Freeman’s role. The R.F members that do appear in levels are completely worthless, usually taking one or two hist from a pistol and dying. I didn’t very much feel like I was really a part of this group. I was feeling more like a guy taking his revenge against the company and its headhonchos.Graphically, this was an impressive outing for its day. The character models and player weapon han.

Hey Red Faction is a great game! For all of you who like 1st person shooters this is the game. The only bad thing is that once you die thats it, you don’t have any lives or anything. But overall this is the best 1st person shooter I’ve ever seen.

It looks like we’ve come a long way from past fps’s. Red Faction is one of the reasons I am a proud owner of a Sony Playstation 2 Computer Entertainment System. Sometimes I worry "what if Sony sells out, what if Sony doesn’t have the power to stand up to other Next-Gen consoles such as Microsoft’s X-Box or Nintendo’s Gamecube." But, it’s games like these that ease my mind, Red Faction is one of the best fps’s to ever hit a console, and i’m glad it decided to hit PS2. Now onto more important things.Red Faction brings a new type of technology to the table, the title of this new found glory? – Geo-Mod technology. Basically meaning that you can go around shooting your surroundings with rocket launchers or what not, and it will do damage to the surroundings. This is a great way to keep you clinging to the edge of your seat while playing this amazing game.At first, while starting out in the story mode, or the one player game, the graphics may not be all you were expecting from the PS2, but don’t let this fool you. Red Faction has more then it’s fare share of amazing grahpics, all running at a smooth frame rate. The textures are amazing!!On to the story, you take control of Parker, the hero of the game. Red Faction takes place on mars. This is a great game that will give you hours of entertainment, but somewhere along the lines it gets old. The single player is great until about three fourths of the way through when you have to save before every door because you don’t know what is about to kill you on the other side. The ability to blow holes in the walls is amazing, it’s about the only reason the multiplayer is worth playing though. I think the one thing that would make this game a lot better is if it was broken into levels more like goldeneye, so you could go back and replay your favorite ones, instead of making it one long, long, repetetive battle. Even with it’s flaws, I would definetely recommend this game to anyone!!
