Red Faction takes place on Mars in the near future. You play as Parker, a miner lured to Mars by the Ultor Corporation’s promises of success and adventure. However, reality quickly sets in that miners are severely beaten and a plague is running rampant throughout the barracks. The opening scene shows Parker as a witness to a brutal murder of a fellow minor. It is survival of the fittest- kill or be killed- and a viscous rebellion ensues. It is your job to bring down the Ultor Corporation. To aid you on your quest, you are offered a wide array of weapons of mass destruction, 15 to be exact. There are a total of 20 levels of gameplay and 5 vehicles to steal. Gameplay is perhaps the most important feature of Red faction. THQ introduces a new style of gameplay interface known as Geo-Mod Technology. The first of its kind, Red faction allows you to modify your surrounding environment by blasting your way through walls, doors, and even ceilings. If you can’t find the key- make your own door! Movement throughout the game requires the use of the analog control sticks. Movement is smooth and relatively easy to control. Also, all aspects of movement, including pitch sensitivity and analog function, can be adjusted in the options menu. Red faction offers a multiplayer mode of up to 2 people and 6 bots. There is a wide array of maps to choose from, however they are fairly limited in size. The graphics in Red Faction are perhaps the game’s biggest downfall. Bodies are relatively blo.

I consider Red Faction a classic 3D FPS during what I call the golden age of FPS’s. Games like Deus Ex, Half Life, Timesplitters, Unreal Tournament, and Quake 3 Arena were the games that my generationn grew up on and played incessantly. At its core, Red Faction is a rather straight forward fps. The story is a classic one man vs the world narrative set in the future on Mars. Parker is the player character, a young guy who found a mining job on the red planet, dissatisfied with what his parents have forced him to do with his life. The mining company he works for is a corrupt and abusive organization that treats its miners like slaves, which prompts an uprising from a group of miners called the Red Faction, whom Parker is a part of now.Main Gripe: The reason I said “one man against the world” is because during actual gameplay, you are literally there doing all the work that the Red Faction group should be doing together. Sabotaging this, kidnapping this person, control these tanks and subs, flying into space, and assassinating this person. It reminds me an awful lot like Master Chief’s or Gordon Freeman’s role. The R.F members that do appear in levels are completely worthless, usually taking one or two hist from a pistol and dying. I didn’t very much feel like I was really a part of this group. I was feeling more like a guy taking his revenge against the company and its headhonchos.Graphically, this was an impressive outing for its day. The character models and player weapon han.

Hey Red Faction is a great game! For all of you who like 1st person shooters this is the game. The only bad thing is that once you die thats it, you don’t have any lives or anything. But overall this is the best 1st person shooter I’ve ever seen.

It looks like we’ve come a long way from past fps’s. Red Faction is one of the reasons I am a proud owner of a Sony Playstation 2 Computer Entertainment System. Sometimes I worry "what if Sony sells out, what if Sony doesn’t have the power to stand up to other Next-Gen consoles such as Microsoft’s X-Box or Nintendo’s Gamecube." But, it’s games like these that ease my mind, Red Faction is one of the best fps’s to ever hit a console, and i’m glad it decided to hit PS2. Now onto more important things.Red Faction brings a new type of technology to the table, the title of this new found glory? – Geo-Mod technology. Basically meaning that you can go around shooting your surroundings with rocket launchers or what not, and it will do damage to the surroundings. This is a great way to keep you clinging to the edge of your seat while playing this amazing game.At first, while starting out in the story mode, or the one player game, the graphics may not be all you were expecting from the PS2, but don’t let this fool you. Red Faction has more then it’s fare share of amazing grahpics, all running at a smooth frame rate. The textures are amazing!!On to the story, you take control of Parker, the hero of the game. Red Faction takes place on mars. Your hero is one of many miners who are sick and tired of being treated like scum, and the miners feel like they should rebel from this harsh treatment. strange messages and pin-ups on the walls from a strange person named "E.

This is a great game that will give you hours of entertainment, but somewhere along the lines it gets old. The single player is great until about three fourths of the way through when you have to save before every door because you don’t know what is about to kill you on the other side. The ability to blow holes in the walls is amazing, it’s about the only reason the multiplayer is worth playing though. I think the one thing that would make this game a lot better is if it was broken into levels more like goldeneye, so you could go back and replay your favorite ones, instead of making it one long, long, repetetive battle. Even with it’s flaws, I would definetely recommend this game to anyone!!

This is the best game out there for Playstation 2 right now. This game has amazing graphics. The game play is great. The weapons are great. You can even blow a hole in a wall and have it stay there with thew new technology this game uses. you can use the holes to hide in and to get passed locked doors. This game also has a great multiplayer mode. I could not stop playing this game until I beat it. This was the first game I could keep my attention on long enough to beat. This is the best game out there for PS2.

I never was into fps, becides red faction the only fps I have gotten into was quake 2 for playstation, but I have always wanted to play half-life, I heard it was great. so far this is the best fps for ps2, and one of the best games for ps2. What I know, this game will change gaming as we know it, not just for fps, but all types of gaming. Imagine if Armored core had the geo-mod engine, or if resident evil had geo-mod, it would be great fun, and change the form of gaming forever. The game is not totally original, but I like it, and I hope that other games will incorporate the geo-mod engine to its full extent.

So, I picked it a couple of hours ago and I’ve been playing it ever since. The story is well done and I like the fact that you can’t just shoot everything that moves, as some of the characters are friendly members of the Red Faction. Also, the ability to drive vehicles is a nice touch, although I’ve only hopped into a couple at this point.I’d spoken with the [gentleman] at ebworld and he said that, when playing the demo, he’d also experienced the framerate drop that others had mentioned– which was the most negative thing that I’d heard about this title and I was a little worried about it. Fortunately, I have yet to detect a drop, although there’s not been more than 4 or 5 characters on screen at any given time and I haven’t done the 2 player thing with multiple bots yet. Sure, it’s no Timekillers, but the framerate was pretty much the only thing that was great about Timekillers. In fact, Eidos hyped the game with the 60 fps tip, so it should have performed at that rate.So it’s onto the aspect of this game that’s supposed to set it apart from all others- The Geo-Mod or Geometrical Modification component. And I have to say, it really is sweet and I’d bet that many FPS’s will follow Violition’s lead in the future. It’s a very cool thing to send a rocket into the ceiling above your enemies and watch the rocks rain down and put an end to them. The flipside of this is that you can waste a whole lot of time drilling through a wall in the vehicle only to end up no where, and then ha.

Red Faction. A resistance group, trying to bring down Ultor, the mining corporation on Mars. Promising a good life and a good living, miners head to Mars by the shuttle full, only to find broken dreams, and broken bones. Living conditions are horrible. Miners are beaten by the gaurds, and suits and beds are shared between shifts. Red Faction is urging the Miners to take action. Their leader, Eos, is a specific threat. Your character, Parker, is leaving from his shift one day, and witnesses a miner being brutally murdered. He is faced the an ultimatum: Kill, or be killed. Can you live long enough to be a hero? Maybe. Red Faction is a killer FPS game. Literally. You start out with no weapons, and no means of attack, but you’ll get a nice little riot stick to start with. From there, you’ll battle your war through Science Facilities, Executive Buildings, and even Space Stations. Using your wits as much as your guns, you’ll battle Riot Guards, Mercenaries, and your every day guard toting rocket launchers, shotguns, assault rifles and of course, pistols. Dont forget the 5 hijackable vehicles. The sub, the airship, the driller, the hummer with a nice little Machine gun, and the armored tank. This game is fun. If you have ever played an FPS, go get it, you’ll love it. The story rules, the game looks great, and best of all, its not some flimsy POS easy as sneezing FPS. I got throught the first half in about a week. Now, i’m stuck fighting mercenaries by the truckload. ON EASY. If you.

Let me just start out by saying, Red Faction, is the best FPS Ive played on PS2. The story is interesting, the charactors are believable (For a videogame) and the gameplay is excellant. I must say though, what excites me most about this game is the Geo Mod engine. This allows you to actually blow things apart, instead of getting little dents on the wall, when you use weapons. Granted, its FAR from perfect. But I dont think “perfect” is something we will ever see on the playstation 2. But I look forward to the systems we may see in the future, how will the Geo-mod engine change our gaming expieriences in the future? I dont know, I hope this isnt the last we see of it though. I gave Red Faction a perfect rating because It fits my criteria for a good game. First off, the gameplay is spectacular, although enimies can take too long to kill, Graphics are good, it has multiplayer, and a solid selection of weapons. This is deffinetly the kind of game you should buy if you liked half-life, or halo.
