I can’t say enough about this game. It’s a classic and even though those blocky polygons with ridgid textures are dated, the experience of this game still shines like a diamond in the rough!Pros:- High Replay Value-Added Difficulty from the standard edition-Excellent sound and music-Original Story/Interesting Story-Cool Weapons and effects when you shoot monsters; Exploding bodies, exploding heads, limbs and such-Atmospheric SceneryCons:-Dual Shock version has horrible sound-Movement can be somewhat tedious for beginners-Dialogue can be horrible for some people (personally I love it!)Resident Evil 1 is what started it all and to me, it remains up there with Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. To me there are no better games in the series than those, if another game in the series came close, it would have to be Resident Evil: Code Veronica X.Judgement:Buy and preserve the classics, spread the word.

This is a great game, this is where it started and if your a Resident Evil fan of the movies or newer games and you haven’t played this and the other ps1 games yet you need to! I never got into RE when it first came out many years ago, my first RE game was Outbreak for ps2, which isn’t that good of a game. But it had it’s moments. But I was a fan of Capcom’s other Survival Horror franchise Dino Crisis. I loved those two games and after getting into a RE kick I had to go out and get the old RE games. This game was a lot of fun to play. Very creepy atmosphere about the game brought on by the creepy music. The Survival Horror aspect is here where you have to save your ammo and herbs for health, not waste your big guns on zombies and save em for when you really need them and so on. The game is also really challenging with a lot of puzzles/item hunts to solve. It requires a lot of back tracking in some cases so to keep from getting a head ache it would be good to check out some video walkthrough’s online to save time. The dialog in the game is pure 90’s era cheesy, but it’s not really for you to take seriously but instead to be funny. The game also has a few alternate endings and dialog changes depending on what you do at certain points. It’s not a role playing game but it’s something that old school games did to give you a bit more replay value that game’s today just dont do. You can also pick two different characters to play as, Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield, you.

Gameplay was better than on most of the original playstation games. Fans of the resident evil games who haven’t played the game that started it all or want to experience the extras in the directors cut really need to play this awesome game.

Still can’t beat this game but damn I love it! Great game! Good condition! Brings me back to the days when it was released playing it in the dark scared the hell out of me. Good times!

My friends and I had sleepovers and we played this gem hours on hours on hours. This game is a benchmark for all survival horror video games to follow.Without a doubt one of my top 5 favorite PS1 games.

Capcom’s legendary Resident Evil series and I have never really seen eye to eye. Though I own nearly every non-GameCube title in the undead thriller’s history, I’d never been able to stand one long enough to actually complete it, right up until this past week. I’d always found the series to be misleading, disguising itself as a straightforward action title before slowing the gameplay down to a crawl and relying on endless puzzles and feats of memory to lengthen completion times. Time after time, I’d sit down with the goal of finally tackling these games, and time after time I’d get bored, stuck or distracted, leaving the game behind. I grabbed Resident Evil 3 when it was relatively new, and the title has sat, unplayed, on my shelf for years. That was, as I said, until this past week, when I sat down with renewed vigor and vowed to complete the first title in the series, even if it drove me to madness.I’ll make it really blunt; the story is absolutely terrible. The uninspiring characters meander their way through the events without a care in the world, occasionally encountering plot holes large enough to drive an oversized bus through. Nagging issues, such as why somebody would lock their home’s single shotgun away in a room that’s only accessible through a string of unrelated tricks and puzzles, aren’t even touched upon. What if somebody breaks in, in the middle of the night? Is the owner of the mansion really going to have time to roll out of bed, run downstairs, jog to one.
