Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. Not only does this setting provide a rich backdrop to the action but it fosters a unique and thrilling triple-threat battle scenario for the game modes. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W’s) add to the mix as players compete against their team’s opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe. The result is a brand new style of gameplay that breaks the conventions of traditional third person shooters. It is September 1998 and the action focuses on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of its involvement. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of elite soldiers to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Caught up in the action are rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S) Soldier and battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City. Choose from six characters, each one equipped with a unique skill set, including the female field scientist Four-Eyes who can manipulate the T-virus and take control of the B.O.W’s raiding the streets of Raccoon City or the weapons expert and U.S.S team captain Lupo.

Let me start off by saying this; Any self-respected lover of the RE series would never give this game such a bad review. Why? You ask? Because it only hurts the series as a whole.I sometimes wonder, how possibly ignorant could gamers be? That’s like saying you follow Jesus and love him, but when armageddon hits you run and cry like a little girl. Why? Because things are getting a tad out of your comfort zone. God forbid that ever happens. (Tsk)You know what? Don’t ruin games for other people, just because you are unable to pop your little head out of the box.Oh, and btw; This installment to the series brought on a ton of new gamers that once would never even touch these games. Me being one of them. I have now even backtracked and purchased all of the old RE games and am currently playing through them.Oh, and also; I love the films now too, and have become obsessed with buying RE figures. SO CHEW ON THAT!!!~TeaMaster1978 of YouTube~

This game is not the best resident evil game by far, but it is a great zombie game. This game has alot of bad reviews by the people who rushed in hoping for the best resident evil title to date, and were soon hit in the face with a disaster. I waited and went in thinking it was going to be bad, and was soon surprised with a great game. What they saw:-short campaign(about 5 hours of gameplay)-forgettable story-NOT a Resident Evil gameWhat I saw:+replay value(trying to bet the game with every character was fun, and they all have their own ablities. I have about 20+ hours of gameplay)+Zombies(I mean if you shoot the zombies in the head they die in one shot, ONE SHOT!!!)Please go in thinking it’s bad and you might end up thinking it’s great by the end. I did and I can’t be happier.

This is completly different than other Resident Evil games. It feels as if multiplayer is the main aspect of this and they threw a campaign in to not look cheap. If you have played Army of Two or Gears of War this game feels pretty similar, its third person you can take cover and kill enemies (mostly humans). The thing is that you will be killing alot more humans than zombies in campaign and multiplayer mode. If you are a fan of a survival horror feel do not get this, however if you want tactical CoD style gameplay in a post apocalyptic setting then you will enjoy this. Zombies move alot more faster on this game opposed to other resident evils. The multiplayer is the hotspot of the game you can rank up and purchase weapons and specialties (Perks) to upgrade your self. It has weapons similar to Modern Warefare 2 and you can change you player model, but it doesnt affect your speed, health, or any other atrributes. Even before this game was released there was already DLC available. If you want a survival horror resident evil, hold of till later this year and get Resident Evil 6, unless you are a true fan or want a semi-new multiplayer experience then you can get this overall its a good game but doesn’t feel much like resident evil

First I just want to state I’m reviewing this from the perspective of a solo campaign player since I don’t have xbox live so I have no opinion on multiplayer. I actually really dig this game. Take some elements from the other RE games (specifically 4, 5, and 6), Gears of War, and Left 4 Dead, roll them around a bit and you basically get Operation Raccoon City. Now don’t get me wrong, this game is far from being a masterpiece and is in no way better then the previous games mentioned. However, for basically being a budget game, its actually pretty fun.In the game you play as the USS Delta Team (Umbrella Security Service) dubbed the Wolfpack and your job is to destroy evidence, retrieve virus samples, and eliminate witnesses. There is a total of six members in Delta Team all with there own abilities that can be upgraded through out the game. All members specialize in a specific field such as recon, surveillance, and demolition (which I’m sure is more dynamic in multiplayer). In campaign you choose one member to play as and three others to follow, making this a team based game like GOW and L4D. Now my number one complaint is the AI and lack of a command system for the CPU. There will be times when CPU followers will get ahead of you and engage enemies when your not ready and vice versa. A simple command system would have fixed this, being able to tell your group to hold position or group up would have me giving 5 stars. Another notable but minor (imo) problem is that the base game.
