Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. Not only does this setting provide a rich backdrop to the action but it fosters a unique and thrilling triple-threat battle scenario for the game modes. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W’s) add to the mix as players compete against their team’s opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe. The result is a brand new style of gameplay that breaks the conventions of traditional third person shooters. It is September 1998 and the action focuses on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of its involvement. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of elite soldiers to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Caught up in the action are rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S) Soldier and battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City. Choose from six characters, each one equipped with a unique skill set, including the female field scientist Four-Eyes who can manipulate the T-virus and take control of the B.O.W’s raiding the streets of Raccoon City or the weapons expert and U.S.S team captain Lupo.

I had a great time with RE-ORC!I only wish the campaign was longer because I don’t do multiplayer/coop. There are 7 missions that took me 2 days on Normal level. (I’m a moderate gamer). The first Mission was a little underwhelming & confusing to figure out… I was worried the whole game might be that way but from the 2nd mission on, they pick up and get more interesting with some twists I didn’t expect. I couldn’t wait to find out what happens next, but it’s alot more action than RPG.The first mission also had some strange control/ movement issues going on w/ the boss encounter, but it ends there – the rest is fine imo, so I didn’t experience control issues.Visually, it’s pretty dark, even on highest gamma it was dark and I had some eyestrain.AI was just fine/normal – they shouldn’t do all your work for you, you have to carry some of your own weight and they saved me plenty of times. Sometimes they get in your way and do stupid things (like stand in fire lol), but that’s typical AI.I like that you can revive your dead team mates & it’s pretty kool when they get infected and turn on you when you’re busy in a fight.I liked that I didn’t have to manually crouch & take cover – just run up to a wall or barricade & it does it for you.I liked the selection & variety of weapons, lots to play with & it was solid shooting – just pay attn. to each weapon’s stats when you choose it, some have lower accuracy or shoot slower, equip less ammo rounds, have shorter range, etc.Melee att.

This game is actually very fun. I Don’t see why people are giving it so many bad reviews. The AI is not terrible, like people are saying. It’s pretty much the same as any other game that’s out there. There are a lot of good things about it. However, THIS IS NOT A RESIDENT EVIL GAME. If you buy this, don’t expect it to be like, for example, RE4. IN this game you are working for Umbrella, and you’re a bad guy. You fight hoards of zombies, and Frequently have U.S. special forces shooting you. you have an option as playing as 6 unique characters. The multiplayer is also fun. There multiple game modes, for example one is where you have to survive long enough for the helicopter to pick you and your team-mates up. You can also play the main game online with other people. I have two complaints. the first is that The campaign is fun, although it gets a little repetitive. my main compliant, though, is that THERE IS NO SPLIT SCREEN!!!! I was very frustrated when I found this out. But overall, I am enjoying it.

Loved the campaign and I plan to play it through several more times. Was a bloody good time. It does become difficult to conquer without other players towards the end, but it’s do able. The online versus play seems a bit flawed at this time. AI is a little glitchy during versus matches as well as the melee combat exploit that seems to be happening in the Heroes game. It’s a fun game and worth the money.

This game does NOT have that RE scare factor pre-RE4, but there are actual zombies, lickers, zombie dogs, and hunters! How exciting! This made me happy! :PThe cover system can be lame sometimes because you can’t take cover behind somethings you should be able to. However, just find another place to take cover. :DThose were just a couple of things I found kinda dull about Operation Raccoon City (along with small, minor things), however seeing a new perspective of the incidents in Raccoon City made up for it because it adds story to RE, and I think this is what everyone has forgotten about; the storyline. I think the storyline of RE is what’s most important. The scare factor back then helped made the game gain it’s fame now, but what it’s evolved into now is story. Does anyone remembering picking up files and reading them? I do! I still do! Why? Because I enjoy the RE storyline and I want to know more! So, if you’re looking for good ol’ scary RE, forget it, but if you’re looking into what else happened in Raccoon City from another perspective, then get this game.

I’m kinda blown away by all the negative reviews here? I have played ALL the R.E. games since the first title on PlayStation back in 1996. I still love and enjoy them all, and take each on its merits, and try NOT to do too much comparison to previous titles. I even bought the old Nintendo GameCube JUST so I could play all the RE titles when they were solely licensed for that console! If you are a TRUE FAN of RE, then you will LOVE this game … as long as you do NOT compare it to other RE titles … CLEAR? If you are now coming NEW to the RE series, you will likely be very disappointed, especially if you try to compare RE:ORC to other war-shooters like CoD, etc. This game is definitely for lovers of the RE franchise; I often found myself laughing and smiling when coming across a fond reminder of one of the earlier games (Kendo’s Gun Store, anyone?).That being said, I REALLY enjoy playing this game! Am still playing on the Single-Player campaign, and haven’t finished yet! Don’t know how some people are claiming the Single-Player is “only” a 5 or 6-hour game? Finishing this game in 5 or 6 hours would only be possible IF:* You are NOT playing the game on the highest difficulty: “Professional”* You are NOT experimenting with any of the different weapons, character abilities, XP’s, and level-up system.* You are NOT scouring each area as you “clear” it for special hidden items, data disks, ammo & supplies, etc (these all earn you valuable XP’s)IF you do ALL of the above, I g.
