Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. Not only does this setting provide a rich backdrop to the action but it fosters a unique and thrilling triple-threat battle scenario for the game modes. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W’s) add to the mix as players compete against their team’s opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe. The result is a brand new style of gameplay that breaks the conventions of traditional third person shooters. It is September 1998 and the action focuses on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of its involvement. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of elite soldiers to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Caught up in the action are rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S) Soldier and battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City. Choose from six characters, each one equipped with a unique skill set, including the female field scientist Four-Eyes who can manipulate the T-virus and take control of the B.O.W’s raiding the streets of Raccoon City or the weapons expert and U.S.S team captain Lupo.

This game have taken many people by surprise. Lot’s of people weren’t expecting a game like this, but I was. This is very similar to L4D. The campaign is short, but alot longer than L4D. The games emphasis is based on multiplayer. This is where the game shines the most. You have four different game types and each one has a special value and very fun. You have zombies every where trying to attack you, other human players, and special zombies. So if you want this game for single player, I would pass. But if you want it for the multiplayer then you won’t be disappointed.

RE: Operation Racoon City is a very very fun game to play and that’s what video games should be!!! The added improvement of being able to move while shooting, instead of being planted in 1 spot, is a TREMENDOUS improvement in my opinion! The ability to rank up your character, switch characters, and to improve on your overall score by finding different items, such as data chips and security cameras, make the replay value extremely high! Yes, I gave the game 5 stars because it is worthy of a new purchase! NO, it is not the “perfect” game, but it is a lot of fun to play! If you are the finnicky type, then go back to your Call Of Duty haven! But if you are like me, the type that enjoys different types of video games, then by all means, GET THIS GAME and enjoy the mayhem!

This actually is a very fun game. If you bought it expecting it to be survival horror like most other Resident Evil games, then you will be disappointed. If you expect it to have great online multiplayer, especially long after release, then you will be disappointed again. However, the game is great if you give it a chance to be it’s own game in the Resident Evil universe. Great gameplay, music, atmosphere, variety of characters with different abilities, and a superb leveling-up system (very deep and varied). Great replay value, like most Resident Evil games. I played through the game 3 times, and nowadays I rarely re-play games. It also has online co-op, and I played it online with a friend years after release, that online aspect worked just fine. Though playing it solo offline was also great.Though half the game is locked away behind DLC, the main campaign without buying DLC is actually as lengthy as most AAA games, and the DLC to buy the other half of the game is not that expensive, and it also makes it like a 30 to 40 hour game (especially if you are hunting for the collectibles). My only gripe with it is that it is a bit more difficult than most games today, even on the Easy setting. So expect a little more challenge than you might want, but it’s not too much challenge. There’s also not a whole lot of story, though going in I knew this was a squad-shooter, so I didn’t expect an epic story.Overall, this is not a game to pass up, especially now that it is so cheap.

I have had and played all of the games since the original Resident Evil was released for the Playstation console. I even have the Gameboy RE, Gameboy Advance RE and the two 3D versions for the 3DS. This newest game is solid. It’s fun, different and, in my opinion, a different type of RE game for a reason. It reminds me of RE meets Call of Duty. I do believe it is intended for online play and playing with a group. The puzzles are absent for a reason. They would slow down gameplay in an all out war like this. I too wish that everyone would stop bashing this game and look at it for what it is. Adrenaline-based, heart-pounding, don’t want to think about anything and just shoot ’em up Resident Evil fun! I give it a solid 5 stars.
