Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War takes the classic first person shooter and brings it live on the XBox. Check out the great gameplay!Just about every action gamer knows the basic story by now. This game is a classic and has had several ressurections. It’s World War 2, and the Nazis are trying to gain supernatural powers. The Allies are trying to figure out what is going on and to stop the Nazis. In this XBox iteration, you learn that back in medieval days, a sorcerer managed to lock away a nasty, immortal warrior. This is who the Nazis have uncovered. You begin the single-player game as an Allied soldier in Africa, being sent in to figure out what the Nazis are up to. The game is a good mixture of action, stealth, and puzzle solving. If you just go in to a “kidnap” mission with guns blazing, you’re likely not to succeed. Instead you have to sneak around and achieve your mission quietly. The graphics are rather impressive. Candle flames flicker, light reflects off your hand-held knife as you walk through the streets. Lights reflect off of surrounding surfaces. The XBox version also boasts Dolby 5.1 sound, from the various weapons you use to ambient noises and rockets whistling overhead. While the basic gameplay and new missions are quite fun, where the game *really* shines is in XBox Live gameplay. Head on line for a wide selection of mission types and maps. Choose the Axis or Allied side, pick your speciality and weapons. Then head into combat with your team, coordinat.

Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War is everything Medal of Honor for Xbox should have been and much, much more. The presentation is suburb and the graphics are so sharp you should be careful not to cut yourself. I suppose a person could get into all the subtle details about this and that but the bottom line is if you’re looking for a first person shooter that moves fast and furious and finds that perfect balance between run and gun action and an entertaining plot, Wolfenstein is it in spades! Each level slips you deeper and deeper into a creepy world of Nazi mutant zombie experimentation and into the bowels of a Third Reich hell on Earth. And it’s your job to stop them before they stop you! The “wow” factor of this stunner can be found on all fronts, from it’s beautifully rendered world and characters, with lighting effects to drool for. The throbbing theme music is spot on and the great voice acting rings the life out of the nifty story line. The levels and game play are deep, well designed and executed, which will most certainly keep you coming back for more. Tides of War is a mighty romp, well deserving of not only 5 stars but also a medal for gaming valor.

Wow, a lot certainly has changed since the previous Wolfenstein on the PC. The graphics in this game are great and so is the background music.. it’s kind of eerie at times. The hardest part was just getting the controls setup the way I like them. Other than that, this game is very easy to control. The best part is that you don’t need to wait for a checkpoint to be able to save your progress, you can save any time you like.Just like the older PC version, it has different skill levels. I started out with the easiest "Please Daddy Don’t Hurt Me". Even that level is challenging. There’s a great selection of weapons to choose from. I have nothing bad to say about this game at all. Even though I have only rented it, I’ll surely be buying this one.

I have been playing this game since it was Wolfenstein-3D, then the next version, Spear of Destiny, incredible!!! But when Return to Castle Wolfenstein on PC came out, this game was THE BEST!!!Now on X-Box it…what can I say…..AWESOME!!! From playing it on the PC for months, it took a little while to get used to the new controls, but with the processing speed of the X-Box nothing can compare, since I have been playing the Wolfenstein series of games I think my opinion, which might be a little geared, but I think this one is just as good if not better than Metal of Honor which is the next favorite of mine. I highly recommend this game for anyone into the first person shooter. The graphics and performance is amazing. Activision you have a hit!!!!!I hope you make you guys make a next version, with new missions, for the PC as well as X-Box, I think you have a hit.I have been playing it on single player mode, but I know when I go on multiplayer, I better get prepared for that 7 year old to kick my butt.Well this is comming from a 39 year old gamer…..so in short GET IT!!!!! You will not regret it.

Hi,This is a great game for sure. I an newbie to XBOX and this was one of my first games. And no story line!!. I think there is a really nice story line. May not be a very many lot of cut scenes but it serves the point. The weapons are awesome. Venom Gun, I wont mind having that (and also Energy Sword from Halo) at home. AI is really good. Voice could be better, but come one thisis World War II. I specially liked the voice in one level saying “Intruder Intruder Alarm Alarm”Rather than comparing with Halo better play both. Both have there own fun. I guess energy sword was cool too. Seems like Heinrich had one.I am in for Round2 for this game. This time finding all the secrets is the mission :)The only cons about this game was many a times soilders looked identical(faces). Sometime when two elite guards were one after aother they looked like TWINS. ;)I guess we donot mind that for aliens(HALO).In short both games are great and 5 stars and play both.

I love first person shooter WWII games so I rented it. I played till I got to the first undead people you fight and was saying " Cool dead people" Then started saying " boring " Then I faced A huge dead creature and said"awsome" then found my self saying boring again. The game takes to Wolfenstein then out then back again Plus no cheat codes. this game wasn’t all that good.

First off, let’s get this out of the way. The single play portion of this game is good but nothing special. The 2 player co-op addition is a very nice feature but the developers made a very bad ommision when they elected to not have you be able to save your progress in this mode. For comparison, I found the SP to not be quite as good as Medal of Honor but it’s close (I’m only around half way through). I had more fun with co-op but since you can’t save, that mode is only really useful after you’ve gone through the game in single player and have unlocked all the levels.Where this game really shines (and brightly, I might add), is in the online play via Xbox Live. I’m so addicted to this game online that I may need to seek some help soon. The game online is completely different than the regular game and it stresses teamwork on every level (all online modes are team based). There are 4 classes to choose from each with their strengths and weaknesses and some levels you will not be able to “win” without certain classes on your team. For instance, the Engineer can plant dynamite to blow up walls you need to get through, defuse dynamite and fix broken equipment. The Lieutenant can call in airstrikes, artillery barrages, and rearm his fellow soldiers. The GI Soldier can use an array of weapons (sniper rifles, flame throwers, etc.). The Medic can revive dead troops with a shot of adrenaline and lay down health packs to heal the injured (don’t worry he has a gun too :P).The maj.

Maybe I’m behind the times and this is a pale imitation of Doom and Quake and other first-person shooters, but I absolutely love this game and have been playing it for many hours ever since I bought it a few weeks back. The storyline has you facing off with evil Nazis and their experiments with the occult–zombies, super soldiers, etc., etc. Along the way, you get to infiltrate the catacombs under an African desert, break your way out of Castle Wolfenstein and escape via a cable car (right out of Where Eagles Dare), and break into a top secret testing facility, where you must stop a V2 rocket launch, destroy a radar prototype, and steal an experimental jet aircraft. I’ve played Halo and Splinter Cell, but Castle Wolfenstein keeps me coming back in a way neither of those games has. The graphics are great and the sound effects are well-realized, and the array of weaponry and tactics you must utilize to defeat your enemies is phenomenal. I would highly recommend this game to any Xbox owner.
