My husband, myself, and my two kids have been playing this game. We actually bought it at the recommendation of one of my husband’s friends. While this isn’t a good game for HIM (because he has been playing guitar for over 15 years and is more advanced than the game), it is a GREAT game for us. The three of us haven’t played guitar ever and this goes thru the basics and helps you learn while having fun. My son has been doing wonderfully with it. He has been learning without realizing he’s learning. We’ve only had it since January and he has already played all the songs and is going back thru and trying to up his mastery percentage. It also has arcade like games that you can play with the guitar that help you learn various lessons, such as sliding, the strings, bends, and chords. This games have been good for my husband too. I highly recommend this game for anyone wanting to learn or get better on guitar.

Wow..Let me start by saying, I am about to turn 52..still a woman that loves makeup, having my hair done and yet here I am waiting to get callouses on my left hand so I can play Rocksmith even better!Call it middle age crises or just dreaming of one day being called up to play lead guitar with Led Zeppelin..lol..But since I had never picked up an electric guitar and didn’t know the difference between a note and chord, I didn’t feel I would learn anything. I wanted to, but where would I start?Bought an electric guitar ( mini-Fender) and Rocksmith. My life changed! My life?.. yeah because who knew at my age I would be able to play Foo Fighter’s Everlong in one week!!??..Well I can and thanks to Rocksmith, I know my basic chords.I am so darn happy to have gotten this as an early birthday present to myself.Get it and thank you Ubisoft! Can’t wait for more expansion packs and more songs I can purchase. Money so well spent. Off I go to learn Radiohead’s Karma Police.

I’ve wanted to learn guitar for a long time – took lessons a couple years ago, but couldn’t stick with it. Rocksmith has been a great way to motivate myself to play every day for at least an hour. And I do feel like I am learning a lot. The songs cover a good range from easy to harder, and there’s plenty to choose from. However, the program has a couple of holes that I’d love to see fixed 1) Biggest issue (and I can’t believe this isn’t front and center in most reviews!) is that the 60-day challenge that they advertise so much still doesn’t work. The website says "beta" and while I think they are capturing the data – statistics don’t work! So if you are thinking about this, be warned. I hope they will have it fixed for all those people that get this game for Christmas! 2) I wish the game did a little more to help with strumming patterns. As you progress, each song starts to put the strumming indicators in for the chord or note you are playing – but they don’t give you the "UDDUDU" sort of direction that is so helpful when you view how-to-play videos on YouTube. Putting an U/D arrow by the strum bar in the game would have help a newbie player like meBut I do enjoy the game, and feel like I am learning a lot. Just racking up the playing time helps with muscle memory on chords.
