I played shadow of colossus when I was young so I loved replaying it again. Its such an amazing game, very beautiful as well especially now that it’s been remastered. The controls are a little funky though and Ico should have gotten better in the charts with how awesome the story, graphics, and game play are. Definitely worth keeping and adding to the collection. Ico is better than it was on the PS2, the illusion of depth is better and Colossus feels like it was made for the PS3 due to added polygons although the characters look a little blocky. They are beautiful classics that were redone well and although I feel re-releases are over priced money grabs by the publishers… this one really deserves it and was well done. They did it right this time, particularly in Shadow of the Colossus… The frame rates are much smoother than the original PS2 release, and the atmosphere/presence of the Colossi carries more impact and suspension of disbelief since it’s not interrupted by the jagged lines that were in the originals. This 2 for 1 is a great deal~!

Talk about nostalgia….Ico was probably one of the very 1st PS2 games I ever played and remember it very fondly. SOTC is also an amazing, very unique, and quite visionary game. They are both set in the same video game universe and just have a certain feel to them that really resonates with the gamer in me. Too bad I’ve had to order 2 different copies of this game though. First copy, that’s being returned as I write, was misrepresented grossly by the shop and they refused to answer any emails so i left appropriate feedback and sent it back. Waiting for my new copy and I have much more faith in this shop. But the game? Man it’s great. Having these two titles in HD is super sweet lol and that ain’t a favorite word of mine. Great games man….great games!

Ico is by far my favorite game of the previous console generation. I had never before played a game that so grabbed me, emotionally speaking. Sure, there had been games that sucked a lot of my time, and that I really loved. But Ico *moved* me. If ever there were an argument for “games as art,” Ico is it.I will admit, though, that the follow up, Shadow of the Colossus, kind of left me cold. I really dug the aesthetic, but the controls were so teeth-gnashingly frustrating that I didn’t finish it.So it kind of stunk when Sony removed backward compatibility from the PS3. Once I replaced my YLOD 60gb with a new Slim model, I could no longer play my old Ico disc, or finish up my copy of SotC. I was thrilled, then, when this collection was announced. 2 games, 1080p graphics, bonus features, all running at a solid frame rate? Sign me up! I sold my Ico disc right away (for a cool sixty smackers, given its rarity) and pre-ordered this bargain-priced collection – the same price as buying two PS2 Greatest Hits titles.I was even more thrilled when I learned that we in the states would finally be getting the real version of the game without the cuts. Now, I’ll finally be able to do a second playthrough with Yorda’s dialogue translated, slightly harder puzzles, new weapons, and co-op play.OK. Enough preview. So how is it? Worth every penny, that’s how it is. The graphics look wonderful – now in full 16:9 widescreen for Ico, with a level of sharpness and clarity at 1080p that blows away the.

Buying these upgrades (that’s really what they are) was well worth my money, as a big fan of the original games. The immersive quality that HD has added to the already superb, atmospheric PS2 graphics is very intense, moreso than most games designed for the PS3. These are games for which you bring your chair up as close to your big HDTV as you dare, because of the gorgeous (but never garish) eye-candy, and the feeling of really being there even though the perspective is 3rd-person.It’s worth mentioning that subtle game-play issues have been upgraded as well as the graphics. Notably, a few of the battles in ICO are tougher than they were, and at least one of the puzzles has been significantly improved.

As a whole, the HD edition maintains good framerates for both games. Both games provide just enough story to keep you interested and don’t get in your way or try to be too much of anything. They lets you experience the emotion and essence of their worlds without filter.Let’s take a brief look at each:ICOShunned because you’re a kid with horns, you have to rescue a princess from within her own castle and escape it plus some shadow monsters. A basic puzzle plat former, this game is moderately long. Definitely unique.Shadow of the Colossus:The atmosphere and score for this game is superb. The game is excellently paced, a sprawling world (by PS2 standards, of course) with save points and health and stamina boosting lizards to kill. A solid style and a varied 16 total bosses keep the game fresh and fun each minute of play. 16 bosses being the whole game may seem short. It is, but this game has tons of polish and has real wondrous worldly heft to it and is fit to be a true classic

I had never played these games on the PS2. Brother in Laws convinced me to pick it up once it got to the $10 price range. I’m so glad that I did – quite an experience. A puzzle game (ICO) with minimal dialog but beautifully rendered, especially considering it was originally a PS2 game. Shadow of the Colossus is a beautiful adventure game – big, epic and gorgeously rendered. Highly recommend these games, the both come on the same disk.

I played these two games when they first came out and still have them. In fact, I still play Shadow on my PS2 from time to time. But now the HD remake is here and the graphics have been given a great deal of polish, making both games look amazing. Don’t be fooled though, even with the HD upgrade, the games do show signs of age.Out of the two, Shadow is probably my favourite and the one I’ve been recently playing through remote play on my PS Vita. To use remote play, you must first update your Vita and then the game itself. The quality of the game and frames will depend on your network and the signal from both your PS3 and PS Vita. Both games share a key feature. They both have an ominous feel to it that will keep you glued to the controller. The background sounds are creepy and quiet, not really sure how to explain it, but it gives the games a unique feeling. If there’s something I could complaint about, would be ICO’s controls, that at times can be frustrating, the feeling is gone after a few minutes of trial and error. Players new to the series may have mixed feelings, because at heart, this is a PS2 game. Fans of the series will pleased to see the great games looking better than ever, but most importantly, to see that the games have not been altered in any way that would ruin the great original experience.

Ico and SotC are two of the greatest PlayStation games ever, and SotC is probably one of the greatest games OF ALL TIME! They are both completely different from each other and from what 99% of other game studios are shelling out. If you haven’t played them before, you need to buy this 2 pack immediately. If you played one or both of these games on PS2, let me add that the HD graphics are great. The colors are brighter and the image is sharper in both games, and it’s really worth seeing the improvements and playing through again if you liked them the first time. There are also PS3 achievements to collect if you are into that kind of thing, and some extra behind the scenes movies that I haven’t looked at yet. retrolio sold this 2 pack for 20 USD, which would be worth it for one of these games in HD, so that stuff is just gravy.

I heard so much praise for Shadow of the Colossus, so I decided to buy the collection. I ended up playing ICO first and thoroughly enjoyed that game. Great puzzles that current gen games tend to be short of, and you care for the characters right from the beginning. There are only certain points to save at, so make sure to take advantage of those.Shadow of the Colossus is just pure epic adventure! I have only beat 3 of the colossi so far and they were all crazy fun! The action is not non-stop however. There are sizable sections where you must ride your horse quite a ways to the next colossus. Making your way to each colossus is part of the experience tho because the feels begin to build up, making the boss encounter just pure awesomeness. If you like platformers and awesome puzzles, ICO, is made for you. If you like God of War sized bosses and an epic, enthralling experience, then you’ll dig Shadow of the Colossus. They are both superior games, icons of the playstation 2 system. Bring them to life on your ps3 console if you even have an inkling of interest. I did and don’t regret it one bit!

I’ve been a casual gamer for many years, and I can honestly say that I haven’t played many video games quite like these ones. As the description may or may not say, you get both of the games on one disc, you choose either one to play at the beginning menu after loading it in (though I don’t think you can switch to the other one without having to quit the game and go back to the Playstation menu). I won’t lie, I’ve just started getting into playing Playstation over the last month or two, so I may not have much authority, but these are very beautiful, unique games to play. I mainly got this to try out Shadow of the Colossus that I heard so much about. ICO is interesting game, but it can be tricky at times, though I’m starting to like it the more I play it. The thing I love about these games is that they are both really simple, plot and all, but they provide enough of a challenge. For example, in Shadow of the Colossus, all you do is find and fight these giant monsters known as ‘Colossi’, and nothing else. And even though there are only 16 of them, they are all very different from each other and you definitely couldn’t beat the game in only a few hours. I can spend anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours fighting one, its the only video game I’ve played where you actually fight an actual giant, and might spend at least 2 minutes just climbing their body to reach their weak point. Not to mention I also like how they’re both one of the few games that doesn’t have any abundance of menu.
