This is, quite simply, the best pool game ever made. It achives this accolade by not trying to create a pool simulation at all, but by adding trick stages, points targets and super moves into a normal table clearance. The responsive, ‘simple to use hard to master’ controls and the awesomely exagerated spin system combine to produce one of the most addictive games ever. The music and minimalist sound add a laid back pool shark atmosphere to the game. Get it bought, you’ll never play anything else!

Was for my family who recently has a nostalgia for old video games. Great 90s pool game.

This was one of my favorite SNES games as a kid, but you know how sometimes, you’ll play a game or watch a movie/TV show that you used to love as a kid, and it’s not the same? This is not like that. I still enjoy the game as much as I did when I was a kid! It’s not a difficult game to play, although some of the trick shots are still very hard to make! It works well in my secondhand SNES.

Side Pocket by Data East is definately an original set-up for a pool video game. It uses more of an “arcade” set up than simulation but it is fun. First off, despite not using alternate views of the pool table, Side Pocket offers excellent graphics in-between stages and does not get enough credit for having probably the best music video game in 16-bit marketing history. The laid-back soft jazz style tunes are perfect to listen to during the game or in jukebox mode, they are almost refreshing enough to conceive a kid to. However, with every great game there are drawbacks. To advance to a new level you are required to accumulate a certain amount of points for each level, which is fine but after you advance to the second or third level you are forced to nail down a required “trick shot” to advance to the next level, which can be nearly impossible….this game does have a “trick shot” mode where you can practice these shots but good luck, you will need it. An overall superb game-i would still recommend trying out Side Pocket, it is the best pool game to date in my opinion.

Ordered a used one for the great cheap price. Came in the mail quick and took a couple tries but the game definitely works and functions properly. The nostalgia is worth killing an hour playing it!
