Another PSP to PS2 conversion, Silent Hill Origins is a prequel to Konami’s original Silent Hill game, and fans of the long running survival horror series will happy to know that this installment retains the series’ penchant for the unbelievably creepy. You play as a trucker named Travis, who has just stumbled into the town of Silent Hill, and naturally, it isn’t too long before some very, very, bad things start happening. Fans of the series will see some familiar faces and surroundings, and the game also manages to provide some ultra-creepy environments and events, as well as a spectacular musical score that perfectly underlines the frightening proceedings. The game has been slightly visually enhanced in its transition from the PSP to the PS2, although things still look more grainy then they should. The only downsides to Silent Hill Origins is that the game’s camera doesn’t always work the way you’d think it would, and the game’s length may leave more to be desired. Flaws aside though, Silent Hill Origins is still a scary blast, and there’s enough extra content (like different endings) to find and comb through to justify picking it up. If you already played through the PSP version of the game, there really isn’t any reason to play it again, but if you didn’t and you’re a fan of the series or of survival horror in general, take a trip to Silent Hill.

If you are a Silent Hill series fan, you shouldn’t miss this title. This is a great chance to play it if you don’t have the PSP version.

This is where “Silent Hill” first began… In this game, you play as a lonely trucker named Travis Grady. After Travis saves a little girl from a burning house,he enters the town of Silent Hill. Here he must confront a whole bunch of horrific creatures,as well as his own personal demons from his troubled past. The gameplay is like your basic “Silent Hill” title. Although this game mostly consists of you using alot of melee attacks, such as relying on using your fists and items you find scattered around that can be used as weapons. I found the storyline to be very fascinating,as it kept me intrested as to what was going to happen next. The music is also very good and has a nice creepy touch to it. The puzzles in this game are some of the best puzzles out off all of the “Silent Hill” games,in my opinion. Overall,I think “Silent Hill” fans will appreciate “Origins”,so I recommend that you check it out.

Generally i tend to keep my mouth shut on product reviews, but since this is my first Silent Hill game that i have ever played, I HAVE to speak of the Dark and dramatic Horrors which have Enlisted me into the Silent hill Series.Youll Laugh, Youll Cry, Youll Scream and run from your tellivision set over and over only to come back for more. The Puppet that comes to life to strangle you to death only a comforting initiation into what kind of sick twisted Hell silent hill really is. Its Grabs the Deepest fears inside of the human Psyche and brings them onto a PS2 disc, being in the sanitarium was probably the worst. The Screams of the Remnants echoing off the walls as the static on your radio gets Louder, WHAT WAS THAT!? You think you saw something “floating” in the corner? As you shine your light over You see a shadow of a Human, But yet no Body!!!I always hated Disembodied Shadows myself, and the sounds they let out are horrifying. The Nurses, Well, not totally scary. Sure they got knives and needles, But they are not totally frightening unless your surrounded by 2 or more. Its the Remnants and the Ariels(Puppets) i fear the most along with dark corridors and constantly being afraid. If it werent for the Protagonist looking so Bad@$$ like a lone warrior or Lone wolf or something, i wouldnt be able to play it. I havent played any other silent hill games so i cant say i can compare, but i thought i should start with Origins since it was the Prequel to the very first.Im a Resident.

Was in original packaging and works like a charm

  9. Trey

I have played other silent hill games and I found origins one of the better in this series. Game could of been a little more of a challenge but fun gameplay. Lots of disturbing scenes.

  10. Lincoln Jones

Not really scary but I. Loved staying up all night playing this with my friend. I really enjoyed the one or two jump scares.
