Also the development team included staff who had contribute to Panzer Dragoon, Phantasy Star, Sonic the Hedgehog and Sakura Wars games.

Moreover, Skies of Arcadia receive critical acclaim upon release and is frequently regard as one of the best games for the Dreamcast. But the game underperform commercially. A port for the GameCube, retitle as Skies of Arcadia Legends, was release in 2002.

Gameplay

Also the overworld is divide into six regions, traverse by flying airships in 3D space. “Discoveries”, hidden locations, reward the player with extra benefits. And the world map starts out blank, and it is up to the player to chart the map through exploration. The player may also recruit characters they encounter in exploration. Allowing them to be place on the ship or base’s staff, adding extra benefits to exploration or battle.

However, when dock on landmasses or warships, exploration occurs on foot. There, gameplay alternates between exploring cities and progressing through the game’s dungeons. And cities visit to buy equipment to make character’s stronger. And interact with non-playable characters to progress the story. Also the dungeons exist in the format of a maze, with the player navigating the characters through it to obtain beneficial items in treasure chests. While taking on enemies in random battles. So, getting through the end of the maze generally culminates in a last boss battle to be won prior to exiting. However, the battle system involves managing “Spirit Points”, “Magic Points”. And a multi-color “Moon Stone” system.

TO start off,STORY: In Skies of Arcadia you start as a Member of the Blue Rouges, who are Air Pirates Sailing the Skies in search of treasure.. You Loot, Rob, & Steal. (Interesting Aspect). You end up finding out about a Girl that has been kidnapped by the Armanda and take her back, later the Armanda destroy your home “Pirate Isle” and Take the Girl” Your quest after getting her back is to get the Moon Stones Before the Armanda do.THOUGHTS: I feel this was closely related to … from Final Fantasy VII. So if you have played and loved that Game you will probably enjoy this game. The Air Ship & Floating Island aspect is great. Also, remember how in FF7 you could assign the Meta to your weapons? In SOA you can Assign Moon Stones to your weapons giving them Certain Powers. This also has greater affects on certain types of creatures, thus choosing what color of moon stone (Weapon) you would like to use on a particular enemy. Also Like the “Special Moves” you learned in FF7 they are in this game as well, though different, they are activated by Spirit Points. unlike FF7 in which takes many battles to use the Power Attack, In SOA you can use them In every battle for they increase every round, not to mention you can increase them with “Focus” option available every round for every character. Ship battles are interesting though very confusing and long. But as a fresh new addition to the RPG era I would say nicely added. Last but not least I would like to point out the Magic Methods, u.

I can’t remember where I first heard of this game, but wherever it was, I wasn’t too interested at first. At that point I was trying to figure out a way to get Kingdom Hearts without a PS2. Heh… well, needless to say, that plan sort of backfired, so I searched my mind like crazy to find a replacement. Finally, it came to me: that game! That one with the pirates! Skies of Arcadia Legends! (Just so you know, I’m also a hugely obsessive fan of Pirates of the Caribbean…) Anyway, to make a long story short, I bought this game from EBGames (for $75, yes, but it was worth it!). The story was so addicting, I loved the characters, the gameplay was great, the graphics clearly displayed people’s emotions and set the mood in the different locations, and the music was beautiful. I got so obsessed with this game that I would play it all the time, and when I couldn’t, I read the manual over and over again. When I finally beat it with trembling hands, I was so depressed that it was over… Still, it entertained me greatly for over 80 hours (I had to get all the extras, of course), and since I’m playing it again it obviously has to be good. So, what are you waiting for? If you own a GameCube, you’ve just GOTTA pick this game up!Good luck, future Air Pirate, and never give up!"Hm… being hanged… or being stuck with Clara… tough choice." ~ Gilder, Skies of Arcadia Legends

This game is just straight up awesome. What’s important in a video game is executed to perfection. The graphics are not over the top, the sound is not over the top, and the voice acting is not great at all, but that is ok. They creators of this game focused on the fighting system, and the plot. The only part they forgot, was the ending. The ending is a little weak for the gameplay of 20+ hours I sat through. It’s only weak because Vyse doesnt get paired up to either Aika or Fina. Other than that, it was one of my favorite RPG’s ever

Bought this game on a nostalgic trip replaying old Gamecube games… this is a good one. It’s definitely an involved RPG, but doesn’t feel tedious. The combat system is sometimes a little difficult to figure out exactly, but it keeps things interesting. Great story and characters, definitely an enjoyable game.

A few years ago, I had this game on my Dreamcast, and I could never stop playing it. Night after morning after afternoon to night again, I would be lazily sitting in my room awaiting the next heroic and brave adventure of Vyse the sky-pirate (Much like the disney movie Treasure Planet). There is so much to do in this game, and so many places to explore, and one of the only RPGs that has a relitavely open-ended way of playing it. The main plot is pretty unorigional and expected, but has some great twists, and MANY smaller sub-quests to do that always motivate you on to the next level. For example, in one part (big spolier here), when trying to hunt the large killer whale of this fantasy world, with a compainon whale hunter, you get shipwreked and have to take care of Vyse on an Uncharted Island for three days, then get rescued by a woman-loving and rather whealthy sailor who tells you of a legend of ancient treasure hidden on an uncharted island. While this is all happening, your other two lady compainions, who survied in the shipwrek, were rescued by the very woman the wealthy sailor was running from. Then, being dropped off at a (Greatly themed) dessert village, find one half of the treasure map where those ancient riches are buried. Vyse, while being dropped off at the same island, finds the other half, and comicaly walks past his two shipmates alot without ever noticing them. Later on, both partys eventually meet up at the uncharted treasure island, and after solving some.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends is a remake of a game with the same title for the Dreamcast. I never owned a Dreamcast, so I thought I might play it. I became quickly addicted. This is the best RPG for the GameCube. Vyse, a Blue Rogue, fights the evil Valua Empire with the help of his friends. Yes, the story isn’t very oringal. What IS orginal is the ship vs. ship battles. You start with a small ship (‘Little Jack’) and then later upgrade to a warship called The Delfinus. The graphics are decent, and the story keeps you interested until the end of the game.

I never owned a Dreamcast so I haven’t know this game until it comes out on GameCube. The first impression was "huh? Air Pirates? A bit corny then". But then I read so many good reviews on different gaming magazines that I eventually got a copy of it myself. I imported it from States for I have a Jap+States Cube (and an Australian Cube – but this game is a hard to find gem in Aust.) and tried it out.The starting part was like typical RPG stories, hero got involved in an evil plot while looking for his dreams. However, the story gets better and better and you got some good tricks and twists from time to time. For the battle system, it is like a mix of Final Fantasy and Wild Arms. It is turn based which you go through different commands for different characters and you have different elements and class of magic. So you would expect to see Fire Fira and Firaga but in a different term. Also it adopts a SP system which is similar to the FP system in Wild Arms 3. You accumulate SP every turn and when certain amount of SP is accumulated, then you would be able to perform a super move. The difference between Skies and Wild Arms is the SP in Skies is shared among all 4 characters, so you have to plan ahead strategically as super-moves could cause devastating attacks or protect your parties from enemies attacks. Nonetheless, you could speed up your SP accumulation by using your turn to Focus, which could be helpful under certain occasions. On top of regular battles, the introdu.
