To people considering buying the psp I would recommend this. The video and picture quality on this thing is great with 3-d graphics on games.I’ve only got one game for it right now Twisted Metal and it looks great on the psp.I haven’t seen the dead pixals a lot of people are talking about on mine yet.I don’t have the Nintendo DS but I do have the Gameboy Nintendo SP and the graphics are as different as night and day 2d on the GBA SP and 3d on the PSP.The only problem I have with the psp right now is that that the price is too high and there isn’t a lot of good games to choose from right now. Here is some pros and cons of this system.Pros1)3D Games on a portable system and a Lcd screen for beautiful graphics.2)The backlight is much brighter than the GBA SP.You will have no problem seeing this in the dark as the light is very bright.3)Movies are coming out on it for example Spiderman 2 and soon Triple XXX.Cons1)Not a lot of good games yet. There needs to be a jet fighter game like Ace Combat. There is one called Project Interceptor but the date hasn’t been announced yet. Also I would like to see the upcoming Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction come out on the psp which is streeting on the ps2,xbox,gamecube and pc in August.2)Price is too high for a portable system.3)Dead Pixals even thou I haven’t seen any on mine yet Sony needs to correct this problem or recall these when and if corrected units are released.4)The UMD disk cases are not replaceable. When I bought Twisted Metal the l.

This portable is fantastic for alot of reasons, but not perfect. The ability to watch movies at 30,000 feet is wonderful. I mostly use my PSP to play ATRAC3 files, but you can load MP3’s as well. I’m looking forward to using it to watch TV soon, since the location free TV is now in the newest update. The Excellent: Graphics, Movies, Sexyness, Portability, LocationFree TV available. The Good: ATRAC (or MP3) playerThe Adequate: Sound, Availability of software availability of movies, availability of games, WWW Browser. The bad: Availability of software and hardware accessories, durabillity of the unit. Price of unit and accessories. Video format requirements (MP4).Overall this is the best portable entertainment device available right now. I give it 5 stars.

The PSP is amazing. I am a big nintendo fan, and own the cube and the DS. The DS is cool in it’s own right, but if I could only own one, it would be the PSP. The PSP could be better out of the box, that is true. The battery life should be longer, and there shouldn’t be as many screen issues as reported. Luckily, mine does not have any dead pixels that i’ve noticed. so good ones are out there. It does not come with the USB cable that is needed to connect to you computer. That is ridiculous, especially at the price. All in all, an awesome device. If you want to wait for big improvements in the system, or a price drop, I think you’ll be in for a long wait. Look how long it took sony to improve the PS2 or lower the price. Why would they need to lower it at Christmas, when they don’t have any direct competition in the segment and they will sell each an every one they make.

The PSP has an excellent screen. My hands are medium sized( relative to work out glove medium) It is somewhat difficult to race using the analog stick and the shoulder buttons. So I would say that anyone with small hands would have a difficult time using the psp and thats not taking into the consideration the weight of the unit. It is heavier than other handhelds. First couple things you need to buy when you buy the psp is:1. screen protector. like those pda screen protectors2. case for the psp3. case coverings for the umd games you buy4. the pelican carrying case that holds the psp, games, buds, charger. etc is nice.5. a bigger mem stick, if you plan just to save games, 128-256 is fine. if you want to put movies and mp3s, 512-1gb. 1gb recommended if you can find it.6. usb a-b cord to transfer files to and from the psp.the pelican starter pack is great since it has most of the things you need to start off. good combo with the psp.

This system kicks the Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo DS in the face. It has a beutiful screen (16:9) with no dead pixil’s but if you don’t protect it with screen protectors it can get scratched and you don’t want that with this kind of a screen. This system can play games, movies, music and pictures all through a Memory Stick Duo (The PSP will also accept Memory Stick Pro Duo)or UMD. UMD is the PSP’s disk system that can hold up to 1.8GB’s. Stands for Universal Media Disk. The PSP cannot play DVD’s or CD’s.It is also WI-FI Compatible so you can share files or play agenst others in 2 modes; Ad Hoc(Playing agenst others in the same room or household without an internet connection. It’s the Wireless version of LAN mode) or Infrastructure(Playing agenst others around the country using a wireless router or “Hot Spot”). You can play up to 8 people in Ad Hoc mode. The battery is a removable battery pack that lasts for hours (lasts longer if you’re not using a UMD). The PSP also has a port for an AC adapter or Car Plug. The value pack comes with a great carrying case(The carrying case is just a sleeve of leather and won’t protect it if you drop it. You’ll want to find a better one to carry it in)strap, starter disk(contains Music, movie previews and game previews), and a remote with earbuds. The Remote is great but the earbuds get uncomfortible after a while and are a pain. You can use any of your favorite headphones or earbuds with the remote. It has a USB port at the top so you can u.

Yes, $250 is not a small amount of money, and no, the games for the PSP are not cheap. However, you definitely are getting what you pay for. Simply put, the PSP is an amazing device – it has crystal clear clarity for movies, flash memory for MP3s, and a large assortment of FUN games (as opposed to the DS – but I will touch more on that later). Really, what more could you want? I don’t mean to trash the Nintendo DS ( I have them both), but they clearly are not in same league. This is probably partially by design – the Nintendo DS (Judging by its assortment of games) is designed for kids under the age of 12. With the exception of Super Mario 64 – I have yet to find one game that I enjoy. The PSP already has a much better selection of games, and games that adults actually want to play – notice there is not a “Madagascar” for the PSP. The PSP is designed to be a total entertainment device. Here are some comparisons and pros and cons-Graphics- PSP 5 out of 5 – really they are as good as you could ever expect DS- 5 out of 5 – maybe a shade worse than the PSP- but still very goodSound -PSP – 4 out of 5 Has issues with volume (you almost have to wear the headphones) – but plenty of options for tweaking the set-upDS – 4 out 5 also a little problem with volume , but not badLoad TImesPSP- 2.5 out 5 – clearly this is where the PSP underperforms the DS. The Nintendo DS uses a flash type memory compared to the PSP’s optical read. There is a large difference between the two.DS- 5 out.

I love Sony, no matter what anyone says. They bring forth very reliable and well made stuff to the market, for home and office. The PSP is a great little peice of machinery. The console itself is small – not Ipod small, mind you, you don’t want to stuff this 400 dollar bit of equipment in your back pocket – powerful and sexy. The screen is like a mini Hi-Def Widescreen movie screen, beautiful. The buttons are like PS2 buttons-except for the analog button which can be uncomfortable to use, especially when playing a fast paced shooter like Star Wars Battlefront 2. The sound could be louder, and sometimes it is, but it’s really more of a earphones device. When you upgrade, it will come with a Web Browser which is great fun. You can scan for a wireless router or hook it to your own, it logs you in, bada bing bada boom, you’re surfing the net. The scrolling is slow, typing things is tedious, but it’s fun and useful. You can download mp3 and wmv (with an upgrade) music and video onto the device and listen or watch to your hearts content. The battery lasts for about 4-6 hours in my experience, and needs to be recharged. It’s a very delicate little system, something like handling strong glass, but it’s worth it. A great buy for all around on-the-go gaming and entertainment.

I’m not a big gamer. Have a standard PS2 at home that gets little use. But when I found out this was the portable version of my home PS2 PLUS Mp3 player AND Mini Theatre I was sold. For $249, you get a razor sharp quality LCD TV, MP3 player via Memory Stick Duo (included), and sick gaming system. It almost seems too cheap to be true.Been using for the last 3 hours and must say this is a groundbreaking system. The cool factor is very high here. Can’t wait to take it on the train Monday morning for people to awe at!What it needs:Someone needs to come up with a way to rip standard DVD’s and even backup standard PS2 games to transfer them to blank UMD disks which this uses. It’s probably already possible, the blank UMD media just needs to become available. It is a realistic needed option as I assume Sony doesn’t expect everyone to replicate their DVD and PS2 collections in this new format. We went through that with VHS, I WONT do it again.Otherwise, fantastic unit. PSP only titles seem very rich at this point. The video quality is stunning!!!Gil

When it comes to portable gaming platforms, the Sony PSP is hands down, bar none, the absolute best system you can get.The first thing you’ll notice when playing one is the graphics which fall somewhere between a PS1 and PS2. For a handheld unit, that is an awesome acheivement. But as every other company that’s tried to step into the ring against Nintendo’s Gameboy has learned, graphics don’t make a better game system. But then again, no other company ever made a Sony Playstation that fits in the palm of your hand. And to be fair, the PSP is better than the Playstation ever was.I already mentioned the graphical improvements and that it’s portable. It also features a widescreen monitor. If that’s not enough, how about built in wi-fi capability that allows it to access any 801.11g network or create it’s own ad hoc network for multiplay between up to eight PSPs at a 500′ range? The games play off a new proprietary format called UMD which holds twice as much data as a CD-ROM (what the PS1 uses). Using fantastic compression, Sony is able to allow the PSP to play full 2-hour movies with crystal clarity. Theoretically, the discs could also be used to play music which would be great as the sound processor in the unit is fantastic. The unit has two micro-speakers built in, but it’s not until you plug in a set of quality headphones that you really notice. Fortunately you can download music onto Memory Sticks and use the unit just like any flash memory MP3 player. The system uses a new fo.
