Spider Man 2Â
Spider Man 2 is a 2004 video game based on the movie of the same name. Published by Activision, the console versions were developed by Treyarch, while the others had different developers and are drastically different as a result. However, the game is the sequel to Spider-Man itself based on the movie of the same name. The Treyarch-developed versions are considered a landmark title in the industry for being the first superhero video game to incorporate a full open world design.
All versions of the game closely follow the film’s plot, but expand upon it by including scenes and characters not appear in the movie. Set two years after the events of Spider Man 2, the game finds Peter Parker struggling to manage both his personal life and his duties as Spider-Man. When scientist and Peter’s mentor, Dr. Otto Octavius, becomes the diabolical villain Doctor Octopus after an accident, Spider-Man must stop him from recreating a dangerous fusion power experiment.
The game was release on June 28, 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Game Boy Advance and GameCube, follow by N-Gage and Nintendo DS versions, both release later in the same year.

Awesome game and MUCH better than any prior Spider Man game. This title loosely follows the movie but in actuality, I liked this games script much better than the film. You get to see other characters from the Spider Man universe and it follows the comic books better than the movie does. Free roaming the entire city of New York as the webslinger? 100% AWESOME

I’m a huge Spider-Man fan, having read the comics, loved both movies, and I even dug the cgi-cartoon that ran on MTV, but rather than talk about him, I want to touch on the fact that you get to explore and interact with New York City.Living in Texas most of my life, I finally got to visit New York with my family in the late ’90s, and I absolutely loved it. I did the tourist thing and walked all over Manhattan Island, went up the tallest buildings, strolled through Central Park, and even went to the Statue of Liberty. After having seen New York so many times in movies, cartoons and comics, it was a real treat to finally see it in person. Now this game may not be a perfect recreation of America’s biggest city, but being able to swing to a place or building and have a family member remember it from one of our trips is really something, almost like taking a virtual tour. After wondering what it would be like to explore my favorite city as my favorite hero, it’s a big treat to finally do just that. If the Treyarch team keep improving like they have, the next game will be incredible, but for now this game is fun enough for me to keep, and hopefully for you as well.

Who knew swinging from buildings could be so much fun this is still the funnest spider-man game I have ever played the combat is fun the story is cool and the controls feel amazing the graphics are standard ps2 style but looks better than spider-man one. If your a spider-man fan you must add this one to your collection.

I bought this for my Grandson and he has been thrilled with! He loves the way Spider-man actually does throw webs and clings to building. Much better traffics than the first one.

First of all anyone who faults this game for being too much like GTA is a sourpuss!! The reason for the success of games “like GTA” is because gamers love non-linear games that allow for free roaming in huge environments. Developers have taken notice of this and consequently more games are built using this type of game play. So, don’t knock it!! Having said that please note that I do not own Spider-man 2 so any “owner-bias” arguments can end NOW.Now that my disclaimers are out of the way I can talk about what a great game this is. This game is truly the best spider-man simulation to date. The web-swinging system (has a bit of a learning curve) gives you more control over where Spidey swings than ever before. The fighting system has been bulked up with tons of unlockable combos. The game itself is not chained to the movie in that you will a lot more of Spidey’s traditional villains then just Doc Oct. The game is challenging but not “controller hurlingly” so. You are able to swing around all of New York which is a plus for those familiar with the city. The voice acting is done well but somehow I will never get used to Toby McGuire as a wise-cracking Spidey. Finally the only knock I have against the game is when it comes to the fatality of water. What, Spidey can bring down the largest of super-villains but he can’t swim?!! I could understand death from falling from a skyscraper into the Hudson but when I accidentally fell into a pond in Central Park I had to shut the game off fo.
