Spider Man 2

Spider Man 2 is a 2004 video game based on the movie of the same name. Published by Activision, the console versions were developed by Treyarch, while the others had different developers and are drastically different as a result. However, the game is the sequel to Spider-Man itself based on the movie of the same name. The Treyarch-developed versions are considered a landmark title in the industry for being the first superhero video game to incorporate a full open world design.

All versions of the game closely follow the film’s plot, but expand upon it by including scenes and characters not appear in the movie. Set two years after the events of Spider Man 2, the game finds Peter Parker struggling to manage both his personal life and his duties as Spider-Man. When scientist and Peter’s mentor, Dr. Otto Octavius, becomes the diabolical villain Doctor Octopus after an accident, Spider-Man must stop him from recreating a dangerous fusion power experiment.

The game was release on June 28, 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Game Boy Advance and GameCube, follow by N-Gage and Nintendo DS versions, both release later in the same year.

… at how much I like this game.I’ll be honest here.. after this game, I think they’ve made only like… 1 spidey game that felt halfway decent. This game was the right direction to take it in, but then everything went downhill. It felt like disappointment after disappointment after disappointment. I had decided to buy this again so that I could enjoy a good spider-man game. If it weren’t so dirt cheap, I’d probably regret ever selling it.

Played this game as a kid and I loved it enough to buy it again, that should tell you how great this game was.

    loved it

It’s a very good option. One can do many stunts own spiderman. With extras to the main story, one can play for a very long time.

  5. Ratchet&Spank

First let me point out the things I don’t like about this game.- The map sucks. It won’t let you scroll around the whole city unless you zoom all the way out. But then you can’t see the icons or anything.- Lack of extra features. In the last couple Spiderman games you could unlock different costumes, comic book covers, replay missions, play as different characters, ect. You don’t find too much of that in this one. Maybe they’re waiting for the 3rd one to do all that good stuff, but it was kind of a let down.- Glitches. There’s been a few times the game has froze at the start of a mission or a building will appear out of thin air as you’re about to swing through empty space. Not cool.Other then that this is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Even after you beet the story (which isn’t very long) there’s endless side missions and challenges to do. Which are a lot more fun anyway. You get a lot of different combo moves to fight the bad guys with so it doesn’t get boring. A lot of the time I’ll find myself just swinging around doing tricks. Which is one of the best things about the game imo.If you’re a big spidey fan like myself you’ll eat this game up. If not, then a rental should do.

I have so much fun just swinging around the city. Probably the best spider-man game, even if the fighting part is pretty sub-par.

Ha, the good times. This was a pretty successful spiderman game back in the day and I can see why. It pretty much introduced every mechanism for a free-roam spiderman game and has a huge city to explore, do missions(even if they were repetitive), help out citizens in need and play the main story. Overall, a classic game for fans of the wall-crawler.

  8. Veil_Lord

As far as I can recall, this was the game that started the city sandbox on the PS2. I’d liked the original PS1 Spider-man game, and tolerated the first movie game which was literally the same as the PS1 only with better graphics, story, and characters. The engine was almost identical. I didn’t have a PS2 so when I saw Spider-man 2 on PC I was really excited. Unfortunately, if you know the story Activision tricked customers and the PC version was a steaming pile. So after all these years I FINALLY got to play the real Spider-man 2. Worth the weight?Well, in a word yes. For a movie tie-in, which is admittedly a fairly low bar, this game is a masterpiece…with a caveat. You can swing around the city with really nice web controls, however be forewarned they’re fairly tricky to learn. The missions are almost invariably fun and don’t push you too hard with chases and scenarios where you have to swing around perfectly to meet goals. There’s also optional questing by talking to people on the street. So what’s the hitch, well the game is short, really short. Sure there’s a big city, but it’s at the expense of more real missions. The side quests are fun, but the number of different tasks you can do as side quests is tiny. You basically get attacked, have to rescue a falling guy, take someone to the hospital, stop an armored car heist, or stop a car. That’s pretty much it. They really needed to put some more variety into it or at least some more varied dialog. The only oth.

…I can’t even get past Rhino! Otherwise, I love this game. One of, if not the best, movie tie-ins ever made for PS2.The camera moves well, and there’s a ton to see and do. You really can go through all of Manhattan. Climbing the Empire State Building was particularly cool.Spidey moves well, the controls are intuitive, the graphics are good, as are the sound effects. To be honest, I was having so much fun just taking out the small-time crooks, that I was actually disappointed when it came time to fight Rhino, because I knew then that the story was really kicking in. Now I have to hunker down and figure out just what Spidey’s really capable of!This game is fantastic, and I recommend it for gamers of all ages.
