SpyHunter

SpyHunter is a vehicular combat game. It is a remake and sequel of the 1983 arcade game of the same name first release for PlayStation 2 in 2001. It has since been port to GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance. In the game, the player drives the G-6155 Interceptor, an advance, weaponize spy vehicle. Unlike the original’s top-down view, the remake is play with a chase camera, similar to a racing game.

Plot

The plot deals with Alec Sects, an F-15 pilot who was train by the FBI, as he tries to take down Nostra. An Israeli-base international company that produces food products, bio-chemicals, genetics, e-commerce and children’s software. Daemon Curry, a man who believes himself to be the figure mention in several religions. For example: the second christ/antichrist and believes in the prophecies of Nostradamus is the founder and leader. To deal with him, the IES create a team Spyhunter. Curry has reason to believe that it is the same person who stop him in 1983 (Spy Hunter). When he was trying to launch his plan, he sends all he has after him.

EMP Weapons

However, Curry’s plan is to use four EMP weapons mount on satellites, dub the Four Horsemen. To stop all electricity in the world, then plans to rule. Originally Alec does light missions, mostly destruction of Nostra property (like a vehicle create from Nostra and stolen IES technology). However, Nostra hijacks the “Weapons Van” and an Interceptor, and Alec is force to destroy it. Eventually, the G-6155 Interceptor receives an upgrade (and a change of paint) to the G-6155 Interceptor II, complete with an EMP Launcher, Scanner, and a shorter Turbo lag time. Nostra’s schemes become more dangerous. And Alec finds himself returning to most of the previous Nostra bases for more intense missions such as destroying weapons of mass destruction.

Later, He finds the headquarters where the Four Horsemen are base in Petra. After a hard-fought battle, the Four Horsemen are defuse and explode, while Alec escapes on the Interceptor II. Following a parachute dive from the cliff-side base and landing safely on the ground. He heads toward Russia, setting the stage for SpyHunter 2. Curry’s fate is never shown, but he is most likely kill in the explosion as he is not mention among the Nostra ringleaders in the sequel.

I orginally brought this game for my husband and the boys because they like race car games. I was shocked to see myself(non-gamer) admire the graphics and wanting to play just to watch the missiles launch at targets and gain access points to the next level. Also to my surprise my husband enjoyed it the most. Everyone can play this game. I can’t wait for part 11 to come out.

I had the original Spy Hunter for the Commodore 64 as well as this game for the Playstation 2. Though the 2 games are completely different, where this game is much more of a 1st person view as opposed to the 3rd person in the Atari and C64, this game is better. This PS2 game is more engaging and challenging as you must complete 14 different missions around the scenic world. The game can get frustrating if you get stuck on a mission for too long gloom, and doom thoughts can appear(this happened to me on a mission where you have to destroy the evil twin car), however, the exhilaration that I felt after I finally successfully completed the mission and eventually the game is unparalleled. I successfully completed the whole game in 1 week, and went back after winning and re-completed missions where I didn’t get the movie afterwards.(This happens when I completed missions where I was badly damaged and my car transformed into a motorcycle or boat into a jet-ski). Overall, excellent and very memorable game. Recommend to all “GAMERS” that are patient and willing to win!

Spyhunter is an awesome game! I played this with my nephew, and we enjoyed unlocking level after level. We managed to beat the game which was very exciting. Even after beating the game, this is fun to play in 2 player mode.

If you ever dreamed of fighting off bad guys in a cool car with James Bondian gadgets–this is the game for you! I love pushing a button and leaving an oil-slick for bad guys to skid into. I especially like the idea that the vehicle automatically converts from boat to car to motorcycle whenever the situation calls for it. For example; in one level you can speedboat through the canals of Venice blasting bad guys in boats. In certain areas of the level the boat can go up a ramp and will switch to car mode and allow you to drive alongside the canals. The control configuration is logically laid out and similar to GT3. One of the best things about Spy Hunter is the theme song–which is the same one from the old Peter Gunn T.V. show. The song is updated, sounds great and a good choice because it really psyches you up for a great futuristic spy adventure.

I bought this game not knowing what to expect….after playing it for 4 hours straight i came up with that this is the best game for the playstation 2, the graphics are amazing and the they way the car changes into 4 different things is so cool anyway buy this game or ask for it around christmas time!

I was walking around in GameStop, because at the time I got my PlayStation 2, all I had was Grand Theft Auto. Flipping through the games, I found SpyHunter. There was no case, just a disc, and I had never heard of it surprisingly. So I got it.This is the awesomest game I have ever played.Needless to say, the first time my Spy Car transformed into a boat instantly after driving into some water, I was hooked. To keep the story as low as I can, the plot involves the NOSTRA Corp., which wants to use EMP to shut down all the worlds power and thereby rule the earth. Here comes SpyHunter, time to put an end to them with your machine-gun rocket launcher equipped car full of badass.Although you follow a track when playing, there are many secrets and other ways to go to on the way. On level 2, you navigate a parking deck and drive through a warehouse to blow up a helicopter, which is pretty awesome, and on level 3, you drive a boat by the docks. Or, you can drive ON the docks and transform into a car to destroy armored vehicles. You have a few vehicles you can transform into: Car, Boat, Motorbike and Jetski. The car is cool, the boat is epic but the motorbike and jetski are on the verge of lameness. Once you locate a Weapons Van or Boat, you can drive up unto it to repair your vehicle. The way you advance is by racking up points by doing certain obstacles and objectives on previous levels, then using them once you have enough to go to the next. Personally, I’ve got mixed ideas on this. Whi.

This is a really cool game. I wasnt familiar with the original one, but this one looked cool so i went out and bought it. It is AWESOME! It is addictive and everything about it is great.

I say great game and good integration of some of the old Arcade SpyHunter mixed in. I think, seeing the complexity though, of some other new games on the market, like GT 3 A-Spec, the game could be longer (only took a long night to finish). Also incorporate more technology and cool stuff. Don’t forget every game on PS2, in my opinion, needs better multi-player action. All in all, if you spent countless hours playing the first one like me, (I think it was Nintendo too, and I wish I still had the damn thing so I could play the original again.) this game is a must have. If your skills have rusted a little since then, like me, don’t worry, the games not that hard.

Everything about this new Spy Hunter looks great, and almost all of it feels right. The car drives well and is clearly focused on arcade action rather than strict racing simulation, making the game very fun to play. But missions usually end just a bit before it feels like they should, especially given the old never-ending nature of the original game. The graphics are beautiful, but it’s often easy to lose track of enemies or confuse them with the scenery, and effectively using the rear view mirror and defensive weapons is much difficult enough that most drivers will just stick to the guns. My only other compalint is that the multiplayer mode is locked out until you complete all of the single-player missions, which is a completely unjustifiable mistake. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very fun game, but it leaves you with the impression that it’s not as much as it could have been.
