Snowboarding on sherbet? Some of the tracks you’ll find in SSX: Snowboard Supercross have broken from the traditional cool-blue snow color in favor of tropical snow cones. But this game sports more than just some crazy colors–it also contains a funky soundtrack that enhances the game as you wind around and through icebergs and freeway systems. Your success moves you up the rankings until you can call yourself the best on the mountain. This version of SSX features new graphical effects and controller feedback designed to capture the speed of your races and the massive air of your tricks.

Classic great game

A brilliant game for casual gaming. Tearing down slopes with the colorful cast in this game always brought a smile to my face when I was younger. And getting my hands on a new copy (old on took some damage) has allowed me to re-live the past.

I preordered this game along with my PS2 I am not disappointed. SSX is a good game and worth buying. As previous reviews state, it is fun right out of the box and even beginers can pull off some (but far from all) of the tricks. As with most video games for PS2 the graphics are good and run smoothly and of course as with all video games for PS2 it is expensive. There are a large number of rider, board, clothing, and course selctions that will make this game playable for a long time.I rate this game a 4 and not a 5 because I think a game should only get a 5 if it is trulty awesome and a clear standout from the other games (like Gran Turismo was at it’s launch). This game is not be a waste of money, do not be afraid to buy it.

SSX (Snowboard Supercross) is the best video game I have ever played. Ever. Not only on the PS2 but on any system I have ever owned (that, by the way, includes NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, Game Gear, N64, PS2). The graphics are superb, the people, tracks and backgrounds are stunning, and the tracks are very fun and challenging. The main reason, however, that I love this game (other than the enormous amount of times you can replay this and still have new stuff to do) is the attention to detail. For example, the Japanese people speak (and yell angrily during races) in Japanese, the French in French, and so on. Also, the music is great! I mean, it’s really fun to listen to even if you aren’t playing the game. The controls are also very smooth and easy to get used to. Within a day I was playing, well, not great, but that was probably my fault anyway. This is the most fun I’ve ever had with a video game. The only bad thing about this is sometimes the tracks take a little while to load, but that’s only because they’re huge and have lots of fun and unusual shortcuts. This is the first game you should buy for the PS2, and the only good snowboarding game for the PS2 I’ve seen yet.

A great deal of praise has been heaped on this glitzy PS2 launch title, and the remarkable thing is, the game deserves just about every compliment it’s received. The graphics are stunning and seem to capture the attention of anyone who passes through the room, and the sound effects, though they grow a little repetitive over time, have a crispness that synchs perfectly with the game’s bright visuals and breakneck pace. The thumping techno music, though I wouldn’t call it beautiful, is certainly appropriate, and actually adjusts to the pace of the game, growing both richer and louder as your speed and proficiency increase. Even the vibrating controller, which I’ve found both annoying and distracting in the past (it can be turned off, fortunately), is used well here, and compliments the subtlety of the analog stick. But the truly remarkable thing about the game, the thing that has impressed me most, is that it really seems to offer something for just about everyone. If you’ve ever held a game controller in your hands, or sat down to watch your kids play for a while, you’ll find something to enjoy here. Hardcore gamers will appreciate the unlockable characters and costumes, the vast catalog of tricks and special moves, and the complex racetracks (which are full of shortcuts and fanciful alternate routes). But casual gamers will probably have just as good a time coasting down the bright begginer tracks, enjoying the speed of the game and the gorgeous scenery. The control schem.
