Do you remember when gaming & social media were not replacements for “real” human contact? My family errors on the side of less on-line & media exposure, especially for my 8 & 12Yr old kids. I wanted them to feel less left out of lunch-room banter about the gaming world. This novelty gives them a frame of reference, without the glamour that is hard to leave after an hour of play.Pros: (might be your cons)- 80’s Nostalgia that I grew up with- I love that it is not connected to the internet,- Graphics are not humanoid in shoot-em’ up scenariosCons:- the wireless joysticks eat batteries for breakfast.- doesn’t help you keep up with the Jones’ or lunch-room shoot ’em up banter

Takes me way back and I love it.

Games play great for the most part. No game breaking lag for Super Breakout though kaboom is a challenge. A good variety of wired Atari controllers I have work pretty well, considering that they’re likely nearing 40 years old. Frogger and Space Invaders are the arcade equivalent rather than the 2600 versions I grew up playing. No Pac Man, but that’s ok since the 2600 version stunk. I had considered the flashback 9 due to the SD card slot, but I chose this because it came with the paddles. I may eventually get the flashback 9 so I can run the whole gamut of the Atari collection.

Great system. Works great. Lots of games lots of nostalgia. 1st system I ordered didnt work properly. Was exchanged and havent had any issues.

This is a 180 reversal from VR gaming and needing the latest, most expensive graphics card! For those of us who had an Atari when younger this game brings back fond memories! The system comes with paddles which are needed for games like Breakout and Circus Atari (which was always my favorite game to play). I looked through the games available and it’s going to take me a while to try them all out! Space Invaders is still a classic! This Atari is going to be an fun party game for people whether they have played before or not. Many games support two player mode, and if you buy an extra set of paddles games like Breakout can be played with four people. The graphics are definitely dated! Space Invaders looks good, but Circus not so much. Using the paddles takes some getting used to and they don’t work as smoothly as I remember. The paddles were probably properly calibrated for old TVs. Now the calibration is probably just a little off.The one of thing that I was kind of disappointed by was that there really wasn’t any “value add” done. It’s like a huge box of cartridges and nothing else. (I don’t know some of the “newer” games and whether they maintain state between plays or not.) I would have liked to see the system capture and report my high score from the game. Let me enter my name or initials. Let me family compete for the high score list like we did on the old arcade video games. All in all a fun video game! I look forward to going through and trying all the games t.

    This was for a gift.

I’m quite happy with this! Just remember *unplug the paddles*. I thought something was wrong with the joystick controller while I was trying to play ‘asteroids’. I went back, checked out some other reviews and realized that you have to unplug the paddles. Its a tad inconvenient but we’ll live. I’m glad I decided to get this, and try it out first, since I got it for my grandkids for Christmas.

Love all the old games, so cheesey they are great. Yes for the joysticks to work you have to unplug the paddles. The games run faster than i remember, think the processor is faster than the games are designed for but still cool.

but it’s way better than the 2019 gold 9 which is a huge waste of money, massive connectivity problems with the controllers just for the addition of burger time. Though really, when these things first came out it was a nice item for nostalgia at half the price of this one, but really? my blackberry from from fifteen years ago can sort thru menus better than any of these “consoles”. digging thru titles for a specific game is a tremendous mess. No bad on the shop, the item is just lacking.
