This game will still never get old, you may need to take a break from it and play something else, but you always go back. If you have a Sega Genesis, you MUST have this game, it is the best fighting game, the best game that Sega has created, the best game of the 16-bit era, and its gotta go down has my personal favorite game of all-time.

What is it about?—————————-Streets of Rage 2 is a side scrolling beat em up that charges you on a quest to rescue one of the heroes from the original Streets of Rage, Adam, from the Evil Mr X. The kidnapping, causes the rest of the streets to become over run by the bad guys. With that, it is up to you or you and a friend to take Mr. X and his goons out. What do you do?—————————At the start of the game, you are allowed to choose a difficulty (more difficulties unlock with harder settings being beaten), select the amount of players you start with and choose your hero. There is up to 4 different characters to chose from. Alex (My Favorite and also on the Original SOR) has some devastating attacks, and is fairly agile. Blaze (also from Original SOR) is the definition of balanced, with average attack and agility. The game does bring 2 newcomers to the fray. Skate (names different depending on region), who is Adam’s brother, is VERY fast and capable of doing some decent damage with his skates. Alex’s friend Max is the last of the new characters. He is a professional wrestler who does the most damage in the game, but also has the slowest speed. The game takes you through several stages, including the city, a ball park, a beach, and a factory just to name a few. The object is to navigate the stages by beating up enemies that come onto the screen. You do so by pressing the buttons that correspond with kicking, jumping as well as a special button. Eac.

It’s streets of rage. We played this game for hours at my buddy’s house back in the day. Button mashing, side scrolling violence baby.

  4. Christian Sawyer

This game is punishing, but still enjoyable.

Apart from the price there’s nothing really to dislike apart from difficult bosses. In terms of what’s it’s used for, it’s a video game and so it’s meant or designed to be played.Sincerely,Kevin Stroik

During the time when side scroller games were all the rage, both Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo had an unofficial flagship franchise that championed the genre. For Super Nintendo, the Final Fight series was the most recognized and loved side scroller beat ’em up games. For Sega Genesis though, The Streets of Rage series (also known as “Bare Knuckle” in Japan) was the top franchise. Strangely, even though the Final Fight games were fun in their own right, fans actually preferred the Streets of Rage series over Final Fight despite the fact that the Super Nintendo games were usually viewed as superior. The reason for this is due to the incredible fan-love shown for Streets of Rage 2, the game that many feel to be the best of the side scroller beat ’em up games. When I was a kid, every Friday Night I would be permitted to go to Blockbuster and pick out a game to rent. This game was always a safe bet to rent if I did not see anything else I wanted to rent, because I knew I would be up on Friday and Saturday night beating up thugs and having the time of my life. This game just managed to be so much fun.Streets of Rage 1 featured 3 fighters named Axel, Blaze, and Adam. All 3 were virtually identical in fighting styles and the special move called for police back-up to shower your on-screen enemies with firepower, so it essentially made no difference as to which character you played as. Streets of Rage 2 decided to change this by having a unique assortment of characters to play as.Axl.

This is one of the best, maybe the best side-scroller action/fighting game of the classic years of video games for the Genesis and this style of games. It is by far my favorite platform game for the Genesis, though Shinobi 3 and the first one come very close, and also the Vector Man and Sonic Games I favor comparably.Anyways; lets start by saying this game was such an advanced improvement over the original. The original is another true classic, that’s very entertaining; but this one just shattered it. There are 4 characters; each with their own strengths and short comings, but I have to say the best balanced is Axle and maybe then Blaze! 2 characters returning from the original. The levels are long and colorful, the music will also keep you bumping and busting your way through hordes of enemies, a lot of people say that the music in this game really influenced dance music that’s being blasted in clubs today!Great game, you can make it rather easy, or extremely challenging; a great option to the game. Highly recommended to anybody who likes side scrollers/ or anybody who just wants a great game with re-playability. True classic.
