Before putting down the money to purchase a high speed scanner, we had borrowed a friends Fujitsu ScanSnap IX500 and used that to digitize 1000s of our old photo albums. That scanner was an absolute dream, and after we had to give it back, we waited a while, and then finally decided to purchase this Epson ES500 because the newer Fujitsu IX1500 had so many negative reviews. While this scanner can scan documents very well, it has issues with Grayscale documents; gray colored scans appear way too dark or just Black. Another issue that the scanner had with document handling is that it can’t handle documents with thicker tape or stickers on them them; it thinks that it is being fed two documents and refuses to scan those pages.Additionally, this scanner can NOT scan and handle photos, unlike the Fujitsu at its pricepoint. This was such a big let down; when photos are scanned, the colors and contrast do not show up properly in the digitized file, which is extremely disappointing. While I would have kept the scanner because it is an amazing document scanner and helped me digitize about 100 copies of sheet music, multiple notebooks, and other documents, I have to return it because of the issue with photo scanning.

I have a small home based business where I do photo scanning and custom photo books for clients and occasionally I get asked to scan documents. I had a very old high end document scanner but the software was terrible and it was very temperamental so I bought this unit and I’m so glad that I did!! It’s easy to install and use, it’s fast and the software is great. I highly the document scanner. Perfect for personal or small business use. I ordered with it overnight shipping and it took all of 5 minutes to install and I was up and running in no time.

A fantastic Buy. The price was several hundred less than other fast comparable scanners. The Epson software works very good, but does take a little work to fully understand. The scanner is very fast and produces extremely good results for the speed. The included software helps to define better looking results. The setup is so easy, just go Wireless, and your all set. I can scan from any of the three computers that I have in my office. I only need One Scanner, but I know that I bought the Best One Out There. This is my First Epson Product bu I am very pleased with the performance and the results. I woudl highly recommend this Scanner to Others needing a fast business scanner.

I’ve only had this for a few weeks but I like it so far. One of the reasons I chose this one over an HP ScanJet Pro 3000 s2. Both work with macs but this Epson software software seemed to be just as robust using a mac instead of windows (I know fellow mac users can relate). It scans much faster than the HP ScanJet Pro 3000 s2. It does exactly what I want when I want. It took a little bit to set up the mobile nfc to the scanner but this isn’t a deal breaker as I can see myself very rarely use this option. The wifi set up was flawless and I’ve not had any problems. The only downside I see for wi-fi is that you cannot use the quickset button to scan unless it is plugged into usb, however in my case, my mac is near my scanner most of the time to where plugging into usb isn’t a problem. It doesn’t make sense for me to put documents in the scanner and walk away to another room to actually scan anyway, so for me this wasn’t an issue.

This unit is really fast. I load multiple sheets of double sided copy and it just zooms them through. Scans are crisp, easy to read and it adjusts easily for the various sized inputs, including cash register receipts. The dialog box is easy to understand and allows the needed flexibility in determining what you are scanning, how the output should be formated, etc.Quickly recognized by the various Windows 10 machines on my network, no need to load drivers, etc.

I have an earlier model of this scanner at my office. Loved it so much I purchased this newer model and couldn’t be happier! It’s faster and love the scan to Evernote feature, this saves me time and time as you all know is $$$! It also scans frizzed-end documents way better that my older model. With the older model I had to cut the certain document ends with scissors, if I didn’t it would get all bunched up and damage the doc. I tried with the ES-400 the other day and it took it with no issues! I’m not saying this will be your situation but it’s definitely an improvement I noticed. Does the job absolutely great for the price and seems to be pretty reliable. Using a MacBook Pro 10.12.15

Awesome. I have been searching for a Twain compliant printer that supported Paperport AND allowed me to scan directly to the cloud. I saw another review that complained about the ‘two step’ process to scan to the cloud and I almost did NOT order this scanner. I’m glad I DID order it – because the review was either incorrect or old. The Capture Pro software allows you to setup "JOBS" that automate a scan directly to your cloud apps. In my case – I simply setup a job to scan directly to OneNote with ONE click. I have NOT figured out how to select the destination folder yet… but I’m pretty sure it’s doable. I looked at Fujitsu, tried the Brother ads-2000e and NeatDesktop. The Epson solution was the best. Brother does offer a good solution to get to OneNote – but their comparable scanner if far more expensive than the Epson and it goes through Brothers cloud. I have Brother MFC scanners that I use – but they do not adjust to paper size. This scanner is the "Newer" version of the older DS-510 model line. I believe the only difference between the 400 and 500W is the wireless option. I spent HOURS trying to find the right solution – this works for me. Finally!!!

I have scanned all of my genealogical documents, which filled a footlocker, in no time at all. Fast, easy to use, and doesn’t jam unless the user does something stupid, like leave a paper clip or staple in on a document. Now I’m a “Scanning Fool”.
