For an old original xbox game u know the graphics are nothing to write home about, but its still fun to play and it can get really scary wen these mutated monsters jump out from every direction. When the main character gets overwhelmed he can go viral turning into a monster himself w extra powers and ultra mayhem, its fun, I think I paid less than 4 buks. I havnt played thru it yet but one of these rainy days I will.

  2. Dave

If your looking for a good scare give The Suffering a try one of the most demented games you will ever find

  3. Andrew

Not many games can capture violent psychosis as vividly as this one.

The Suffering, from Midway games, was a pleasant surprise early this year. It is a horror game with an emphasis on action over survival and puzzle solving, which should please gamers like myself, who often can’t find the patience for Resident Evil or Silent Hill games. The action takes place from either a third or first-person perspective, and allows you to switch instantly between the two with the touch of a button. And while there are a few genuinely creepy moments, the action almost never lets up. There aren’t a great variety of enemy creatures, butthe ones that are there sport some awesome character models, and have pretty cool backstories. As for weapons, you’ll find a handful of melee weapons and firearms to blast away the swarming creatures. Medicine functions as health, just like Max Payne, which works well, because you can save it for when you are desperate and then replenish your health with a single button press. The graphics are impressive with little touches, like your charcater’s shirt gardually becoming soaked with blood as you fight through each level. Puzzles are simple and easy, not overly complicated like in some survival horror games, so the action will keep coming. The game is extremely violent, but is worth checking out. I just recommend renting first; it is not very long, and can easily be beaten over the course of a five-night rental.

very fun, creative story. Alternate endings so you can play again and make different choices. Good story as well. Have fun!

I bought this because my original was so well-used it stopped working. I had to have a replacement because even though this is used on an older x-box I still love going back and playing this creepy game over and over. With the multiple alternate endings (each ending depends on your actions and behaviors) I played the game over and over till I got all of them. I still like playing. The second one "Ties that Bind" was good, too. Each has awesome storylines and plots. Don’t play in the dark with surround sound — a little too creepy (you hear the player’s heartbeat and it speeds up and down depending on the action — really cool)

Solid title, one of Midway’s best in my opinion. If you like the prison themed action/adventure games, then this is for you. Unique in many ways, from the transformation to the enemies and flashbacks.
