Very late in writting this review but I had to share my thoughts as a fan of the Suikoden series since Suikoden I.Finally! Finally the Suikoden series came back to it’s original glory of having a great storyline and gameplay. The graphics are of an average level for what Konami usually makes and the lenght is also just perfect (average 50-60hours assuming you have taken time to level up and find all the objects and secrets in the game) and also with a New game+ option. The story is set a few years before Suikoden I (about 30 years actually) and includes some recurring characters from the previous tomes combined with new ones. The battle system was nicely fixed (after the bad ones from Suikoden 3-4) and the large army battles were the most interesting so far!It still doesn’t surpass Suikoden II (especially if you have played Suikoden I previous to that) BUT it certainly gets close enough to it in how interesting the storyline can be. Still I wished there would have been something extra from a previous save game, which has been a trademark of the series since Suikoden II.Totally recommended!!

With 108 characters, a compelling story, solid gameplay and over 100 hours of content, what more can you ask for out of an RPG?
Quinn –
Can’t believe I never found this until years after franchise been dead. This is classic suikoden while premise is always the same it still great one that draws people to it. With 108 characters to recruit and fight in party and the usual great story with some characters having much more depth and feel than first look. Cons is it can be very slow start, game graphics decent but it is getting up there in years now. Some of voice acting can be pretty bad like really bad dubbing. Also no game is worth this shops price but when do find a copy much cheaper it is a fun rich rpg game.
CMWARD –
As a long time fan of the series, I loved it! In this game konami got back to the roots of suikoden with many shout outs to Suikoden I and Suikoden II. Far superior than Suikoden III, Suikoden IV. Cannot wait for Suikoden VI!!!! There’s a New Game + mode too which is great for replay potential.

Someone Else –
I am only about 50% finished with this game, but already I love it. This game has the old school charm of Suikoden 1 & 2. Unfortunately it has the old school camera angle. It’s not that the graphics are bad, it’s just that at the 3/4 angle view it’s kind of hard to see the detail. You can zoom up, but then it’s hard to get a view of your surroundings. Plus the non-cinematic cut scenes are in the wide angle. So if you like the Suikoden games like I do, this is a must have. Just don’t expect to be impressed with the graphics. Just like getting past the limited battle control of part 3 and the tedious sailing of part 4, it’s well worth the effort.
