If you enjoyed No Game No Life, you need to make watching this movie a priority.
This series is one of my favorites….and so I had to give a 5 star rating. Video and sound quality are excellent. If you have not seen this series I highly suggest you give it a try. The main characters although act silly at times…..they do it on purpose…so that you cant see what they are truly planning. This series is only the first part of the light novel series it is based on. And I am hoping more Animes are made. As the light novel series is very very interesting….even though its author is kind of slow at creating them.
Characters were way more likable and less campy. far less ecchi bullshit, last words to live by, better action. These are why I believe its better than the no game no life series. This unexpected gem needs time to kick off, (and by that, I mean the entire first act) but once it does, well hold on to your seat because its going to take your emotions and your adrenaline for a ride. Some characters feel like obvious references to others in the original series which gives it a similar vibe as when a live action series does a special non-canon story with different characters, but the same actors. You’ll know what I mean by this once you watch it since not only does one of the characters from the original series make an appearance, but several of the characters look and sound similar to original series counterparts. Yet these characters seem to have a lot more depth of character and actually go through character arcs instead of just playing a game with a twist and giving fan service. This sounds like more of a critique of the original than a review of the movie by this point and I admit I’m way too tired to make a cohesive argument so if you’ve read this far, just wait until the second half before you judge the movie.

This is a great series and I like reading the light novels for no game no life and I hope they make a 2nd season soon.

I myself love the artwork in this movie, the attention to detail, the vibrant colors, the quality production is definitely apparent. The story is in contrast to the series, but develops the concept of what the series comes to be about. Best way to explain it briefly without spoiling it. I really enjoy this series and am glad to have been able to finally see why this world came to be what it is. It answers a lot of questions while presenting new ones to ponder. The movie is essentially a prequel of necessary information to better understand the series. In my humble opinion it is probably better to watch season 1 of the series “No Game, No Life” BEFORE this movie because the action level in this movie is much greater for an entirely understandable reason. The “reason” being the main plot device for the series. PAY ATTENTION TO THE END if you intend to watch the movie before the series, pause if you have too. This is true canon for the series. So if you’re hooked on the series, you’ve watched this movie, and are now waiting for season 2… so are the rest of us. Hopefully from what I’ve read, it’s a pretty good chance we will see as season 2 after the light novel finishes up.
Totally surprised by this. Story has typical anime elements and displays them in a good way to make the show enjoyable.

Simply a phenomenal prequel story, that in my eyes completely surpasses the original series by the quality of its narrative. The creators did a wonderful job explaining how: the “No Game, No life” game world came about and what brought upon the rules that ultimately governs it. While pulling on the viewer heartstrings in the process. It is a wonderful watch, even for those who may have never seen the original show’s run or read the original source material. As the movie is a complete story in of itself that stands on its own merits. While also enhancing its source material’s lore…

One of my all time favorite series so I just had to have it. Excellent story line, great characters and good animation. I love Anime and if it makes me laugh and keeps me engaged it gets a thumbs up from me. This does both with style. Now for all the people who say "Oh the sub is better" or "The voices just don’t fit the characters" stop moaning and just watch the sub and in the real world peoples voices don’t always match your expectations of what they should sound like. So to conclude I’ve had my moan and still think this is definitely worth a watch.

This is a very creative and well crafted Anime movie that surprised me at nearly every turn (and I love to be surprised). I admit to being a sucker for a romantic storyline that doesn’t necessarily drive the plot, but is an important element. Other Anime that I’ve loved and that you might enjoy include Sword Art Online, Spice and Wolf, You Lie in April, My Name, Noir, and Ghost in the Shell.

So, the overall feeling was definitely positive but I feel like I’m missing something critical throughout the whole story.Definitely has the feel that it is part of a bigger story. Which, at this point, I assume it is part of a different anime.I believe if the story was actually drawn out longer, it would have benefitted. The journey of the two main characters was too short (despite it being the entire movie).
