The Suffering is violent as hell and I never heard so much bad language in a video game. It’s not for kids. However, it’s the best video game I have ever played. I just bought it today and am still very early in the action. Graphics and sound are simply suberb. The story is incredibly involving. This is a very unique, special game. Until you start playing it, you won’t know how truly awesome a video game can be. I recently finished Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time on Xbox, and I thought, at the time, that was one of the best games I ever played. It still is, but The Suffering I think has a chance to go down as the best game ever. Accolades to the crew at Midway for dreaming up this cruel, clever classic. It may become the Citizen Kane of video games. The time, precision, craftsmanship and desire to make something stand out that went into this creation really, truly deserves a standing ovation from adult video game-lovers across the world.

I got The Suffering because, when my girlfriend made me go with her to Walmart at 2am to buy an Xbox, it seemed like the best game there. I was worried because I really hate buying games without knowing them first, but man, I was very pleasantly surprised.I give credit to the game designers for creating an all around out-standing game. The first thing that jumped out at me was the harsh language. I have been a long-time Nintendo enthusiest and i was definitly not prepared for all the cursing. I have no problem with it in my personal life, and it was highly appropriate considering the game starts out on Death Row.The second thing I noticed was the fantastic graphics. Again, this is the result of never before using an Xbox, but the design and art execution is highly impressive as well as the graphics. You start the game by travelling through a prison where almost everyone has been murdered in a horribly gruesome manner. The blood splattering on the floors and walls is absolutely incredible. The designers must have put a lot of time in studying actual crime scenes because this looks REAL!!The enemies also look fantastic, they all reflect the various forms of capital punishment that have been administered to the prisoners over the history of the prison. Example: a small impish creature pumped full of syringes represents those killed by lethal injection. So the game looks amazing. No question about it. But how does it play? Even better!! all of the buttons are exterem.

WOW!!!! I knew this game would be freaky, but I didn’t think it would be an altogether true horror story. You are Torque, a badass with extensive knowledge of firearms who has been sent away to Abbott Maryland State Penitentiary for the murder of your wife and two sons. Not only can you reload two revolvers in a minute but you have the ability to transform into a monster (think Mr. Hyde with blades for hands). Anyways, the prison has been overrun by mysterious monsters of science who are out to kill anything that comes in their path …. namely YOU as well as surviving prison guards and inmates. Throughout the game you get to choose between killing innocents or assisting them. Also, THE BEST feature to this game has got to be the enthralling movie-like plot that carries you throughout the entire game! There are occassional flashbacks and mirages that keep you guessing and spooked the entire game! One attack scene caught me so off guard that I literally jumped (which NEVER happens; especially during a video game)! The storyline is intriguing and a bit grotesque (not for the faint of heart since there are decapitated bodies and blood all over the place), which draws the gamer’s attention more and more as they play it. If you are a horror/thriller fan and play this game for just a few minutes, you’re likely to get addicted! The controls are a bit tricky at first but you easily adapt to them the more you play it. The sound is amazing! You hear every little noise and move that y.

By playing the demo and the demo alone, I have spent sleepless nights playing all difficulty leavels and examining the area. This won’t be your normal, “stuck-in-a-house/mansion” horror with the undead… you’ll be facing the ghosts of those who have died in this prison, from lethal injection to being gassed, these ghosts will use items related to their deaths to seek vengance… but are they really trying to kill you, or are they trying to get you to do something worse…? The plot will keep you stuck in this game, you WILL have nightmares, and you won’t stop playing until you finally get all the endings… trust me, it’ll be worth it. So, move back in with your parents.. the only way you’ll sleep through this one is with someone in your bed. And even then.. that won’t stop the nightmares… Wait.. my cell’s getting really dark… What the… IT’S IN MY CE-On the CD-O-meter, this game ranks a…:10/10

I am very impressed. I thought good horror games were starting to die off, but somebody makes The Suffering. This is possibly one of the best horror games that are out today. The game is set in a prison where you are about to be executed when monsters attack the prison. You travel the prison, killing monsters that represent executions and watching the deaths of guards and inmates(very gruesome!). I haven’t finished playing the game but I intend to. Hopefully, this will come out for PC.
