The game is fully tested & guaranteed to work. It’s the cartridge / disc only unless otherwise specified.
Knowing who you can trust is the difference between living and dying. Dropped into the frozen wastelands of Antarctica, you’re the leader of a military rescue team sent to investigate the mysterious death of an American scientific expedition. In the punishing wind and cold, your team encounters a strange, shape-shifting alien life form that assumes the appearance of the people it kills. As the team leader, you must forget everything you ever learned about obliterating aliens simply with a barrage of violent ammunition–this monster is difficult to see, hard to kill, and seemingly impossible to evade. click here

Okay, first off I wanted to say this is a great game. It combines survial horror with the basic run away. The inovated trust/fear is well origonal, it has never been done in the history of gameing. I like seeing the people mutate in front of me so I have the advantage. It starts off where the (wonderful, great, etc) movie left off. You get there and the place looks like a old Yanni concert happened only its very cold. The plot is interesting enough with some very good graphic’s (for the grapic snob)and talented voice acting which sorta rivals MGS & MGS2.Not really. Pro’s : graphic’s 9.7 music 10 (c’mon it features Saliva) ‘scream scale’ 6.7 voice acting 10 Cons’s : clunky animation bad lip-sync the begining seems a little to rushed Overall : 9.1 This doesn’t hurt the game much but this doesn’t seem to resemble Resident Evil. Oh well The Thing is a great sequil.

First of, being a big horror movie fan, I must correct one of the reviews. Someone titled theirs “a horrific game from the creater of holloween & freddy.” It’s spelt “Halloween,” and John Carpenter did not create Freddy, or have ANYTHING to do with him (Freddy from the Nightmare On Elm Street series). Now, The Thing…a GREAT game. Everyone who likes shoot-em-up or alien games or anything like that will love this game. And fans of the movie will love the game even more. The weapons, the Things, the interaction will your squad…it’s all just great. (for more details on the game, just read others reviews).MAJOR WORD OF ADVICE……….. Personally, I don’t think you should BUY this game. Don’t get me wrong, the game is great…but very short too. I bought this game, not knowing that. I bought it, and 4 days later (playing a few hours each day) I beat it. This is a good game, but you may just wanna rent it rather than buy it. It will save you a lot of money this way.

I got “The Thing” the same day I got “Grand Theft Auto Vice City” and belive it or not ( being the GTA fan that I am) I have only just opened Vice City, that’s how much fun “The Thing” really is. The game picks up where the movie left off. You control Blake, the leader of a small pack of guys sent by the army to investigate strange happenings in a facility in Antartica. You must make sure all the guys on your team trust you by using a fear/trust system just like in the movie. If one of your guys cannot trust you, he may turn on you and try to kill you. The aliens (or Things) are very interesting in the way they look and act, they are not mindless zombies like in “Doom”, sometimes thay will sneak up and pounce on you when you are fighting another one. The graphics are gory but great. I recommend this game for anyone who liked the movie. Adult may find it a little easy but kids will love it. This game is a lot of fun and is packed with a lot of scares.

“The Thing” takes up a huge amount of space on the memory card. 3MB to be exact. So if you have only one memory card, that is filled with games that you wanna keep saved, then I highly recommend picking up another ps2 memory card along with this. As for the game itself,it is very good. The graphics are a bit outdated, but they don’t hurt the gameplay, which is fun and unique. The musical score and sounds go along great with the setting. If you love survival horror games, then I recommend “The Thing”.

Its been years in the coming, too many to count in fact, so after seeing the previewed version of The Thing and having a short taste of its very “M for mature” greatness, I couldn’t help but write a review about this unique roller coaster ride brought to us by the good people at Universal Interactive and Computer Artworks. (Give them a hand!!).The elements of my deliciously enticing experience:First, I feel compelled to try and stress how great the mood that this game was able to produce actually is. The look and the feel itself was so richly enticing, with the angles and the interiors drifting into darkened realms that were very much akin to those that the movie helped bring to the surface. It had that eerie ability to conquer goosebumps from the “seemingly hardened” and to make you look over your shoulder the whole time, pondering on the proximity the aliens the whole time. This combined with a second portion, the more unique “trust/fear mechanism,” adding to your interaction with the people you met and gave those interludes a little slice of that down-home Antarctic paranoia we all know and love. Through this useful feature, you actually have the ability to calm freaked out teammates by giving them a confidence boost (and weaponry in the process) or to test them if you feel they could be part of the alien menace masquerading as your friends. Next, there are the aliens themselves, shambling nightmares that are somewhat like the movie but with liberties taken, and the feel o.

This game rocks!!It picks up a short while after the 1982 film of the same name ended. You play as US Military Commander Blake, who’s part of a massive search & rescue mission to locate any and all survivors of the destruction of both Outpost US North 31 and the Norwegian Base in Antarctica. The military has somewhat of an idea of what’s going on, and what they’re up against, but that probably won’t be enough.GAMEPLAY:—————–This game is slightly difficult and a very nerve racking experience and is presented in a 3rd person-shooter perspective. As Commander Blake, you get to command a 4 man team as you investigate the wreckage of both camps, as well as other locations not seen in the film. Your men will listen to you and will act accordingly to the situation. You’re often partnered with another marine, a medic and an engineer, and all will aid you in battle against any hostiles and have different abilities. The marine will back you up in combat and is more resilient than the other 2, the medic will patch you and your men up after any battle (But can’t patch himself up, unfortunately) and the engineer can repair and bypass any technical equipment (i.e. unlocking mechanical doors, turning on the power in blacked out areas and such)Also, your men might not always be there to have your back. Sometimes they die, sometimes they turn into Things, so you’ll sometimes find yourself alone, which adds to the suspense and horror tension. Sometimes you’ll have to take on a lot of.

I played this game when it first came out and I couldn’t put it down. I expected a lot and that’s what I got. It was a great transfer from movie to video game. For once, I was actually interested in the story line and keeping your team members alive for as long as possible was equally important. They raised the fear effect level on this game as well. You had the opportunity to freeze to death ifyou got lost outside in the snow or getting eaten alive ifyou crossed paths with one of those "things" indoors. Andjust for kicks, there’s this creepy music playing in the background. You never know when one of those monsters willcome busting through the walls, and you just can’t kill themby blasting them which makes killing a little unique. Youhave to roast them extra crispy first, then shower them with lead. I wouldn’t bother testing your partners to see ifthey’re infected. It doesn’t do you any good. The game ispreset to change them anyway, so enjoy them while they’re human. The graphics are good, but switching weapons and accessingyour health during an attack is tedious. The difficultylevel is perfect. You’ll have to redo some missions overagain, but you’ll become smarter because of it. I wish ithad a "save anywhere" feature like Red Faction, but that’sok; the levels weren’t too long. I suggest running away fromconflict whenever possible to conserve ammo, unless you absolutely have to go in that direction. All in all, I would give it a 4.5 out of a po.

I have this game since it first came out. Still one of my top favorite video games. EVER!Just wish it was on PSN so I can buy it as a digital copy.

    Very fun game!

  10. Death Bringer

This game has superb graphics, a huge fun factor, and a crapload of gore and cussing!People keep complaining that the game is too hard, but isn’t that what keeps a gamer on his toes? If a game was too easy (ie-GTA Vice City) we’d just get bored, and end up trading the game in for another more difficult one. This game is difficult for a damned reason, because the creators know it’ll take you awhile to beat it.Quit complaining, it’s got awesome graphics, an awesome storyline (which seems to take place AFTER the movie “The Thing”), and enough gore to satisfy any terminal gorehound. This is by far one of the best games for the PS2, and the fact that it’s extremely difficult, even on the Easy difficulty setting, only adds to the fun factor. It’s difficult, and keeps you coming back to try again. If you can’t pass, that simply means you suck and need a more strategic mindframe.5/5
