Knowing who you can trust is the difference between living and dying. Dropped into the frozen wastelands of Antarctica, you’re the leader of a military rescue team sent to investigate the mysterious death of an American scientific expedition. In the punishing wind and cold, your team encounters a strange, shape-shifting alien life form that assumes the appearance of the people it kills. As the team leader, you must forget everything you ever learned about obliterating aliens simply with a barrage of violent ammunition–this monster is difficult to see, hard to kill, and seemingly impossible to evade. click here

Don’t trust anyone…. that’s what you have to do when you play this game. People around you can be whatever you don’t want them to be. This game is a mixing of silent hill and resident evil, so if you like those games ‘The Thing” surely is the next one for you . Graphic and gameplay are great as usual , but it’s abit too short . however, it’s good ! it’ll keep you busy for days (^_^)

One of the best games I’ve ever played and I’ve been playing video games for 18 years! I’m a huge horror movie/game fan and I almost crapped in my pants when my buddy changed into the THING the first time. Also it has in my opinion, the best atmosphere in any game PERIOD. I find the other reviews kinda funny, most are split between not liking and loving this game.I love it. The only bad thing is, you have to exit to the main menu to load a game every time you die(this happens a lot). Other reviewers were correct in saying this game is tough, I beat this game in a week, but played hours every night.Very challenging, and if you buy into the atmosphere you will sweat from the tension, when you finally beat a level/boss or the game you just’ll sit back and let out a big sigh of relief. Other games I recommend are Painkiller(PC) Doom3(PC) Halo(Xbox) and Manhunt(very violent)(Ps2)

If you thought the movie was over….. think again the horror on "The thing" the movie is just the beginning. Now in 2002 they made the movie game which is "The thing 2" this game takes off just after the first movie. I don’t want to spoil the game for yall but dont be thinking that the movie had hardcore mutated monsters in it.play the game and you’ll see the daddy of all the monsters in the game or is it a game its more reality when you play.I give it 5 stars for being soo cool and being the sequal to the best alien movies ever made.

What a game! I bought this game because I really enjoyed the film, and I was not disappointed. This game exceeded all of my expectations. The missions require you to think, but are not too difficult to solve. In addition to the missions you are handed, you must also manage your crew, which is a great challenge in the sense that the outcome of your mission could be affected depending on how you treat your support staff. This is something that I really haven’t experienced in a role-playing game before, and it was a great addition to the game. Then, of course, there are the encounters with “The Thing,” or “Things.” Their presence offers a constant threat to your mission and they are by no means easy opponents. A lot of your encounters with them (it) will even cause you to jump because they often show up unexpected!I also thought the storyline was excellent and well-crafted. The creators of the game obviously put a lot of thought into the plot and it really showed. Excellent stuff. As great as this game is, there is room for improvement. The biggest gripe that I had with the game is that it didn’t seem to automatically save your progress as you complete each mission. In fact the only time when you are allowed to save your progress is midway into your mission. So as a hint, make sure that you save your progress when you are given the opportunity to do so, because there are often long intervals between saving your progress. Another issue is that once you complete a mission, you are no.

The game is hard, but it is good. It is different in that it doesn’t keep a scoreor points. The goal is to get through the levels. The other different thing about the game is that it allows you to have other characters come along with you on the missions. Thay can help you and you can help them, so it gives you the feeling of teamwork as opposed to going it alone.

I’ve had the E3 build of this game for two weeks now to do a review for my website about The Thing. The game has many great features. The game can be viewed in a 3rd or 1st person viewpoint depending on what you are dealing with during the game. Typically, you move around in either a Tomb Raider style view, but this is often accented by a Resident Evil viewpoint as well. During a battle you’ll want to switch to 1st person, though, and at no fault of the game itself, as with all console based shooters the controls are lacking compared to a mouse/keyboard.The atmosphere or environment are well done as well. Interiors are dark with plenty of nooks and crannies. Exteriors are just as well done but believe me, you won’t want to wander from the buildings or guidelines… it’s quick to get lost in the flurries and that fact may be just as nerve-racking as having to deal with the Thing beasts wandering around.Speaking of the enemies, while they may not have the “fluidity or variations” of those seen in the movie (according to the producer, technology on hand wasn’t up to the task), they can be quite a handful to deal with. Watching one of your NPCs “burst out” can be quite gruesome and very well done. And when your NPCs aren’t turning inside out, they are well done and somewhat distinct… the don’t suffer from the sameness of the “Barneys” in Half-Life. Also, they react to the situation. Not only to they talk to themselves, or other NPCs, to reassure themselves, they may also kid aro.

The Thing, if you don’t already know, is based on the 1982 film by John Carpenter. The film has been dubbed the title of the goriest (if you will) movie ever made. The game, however not THE goriest game ever made (one example of a game gorier than The Thing is Resident Evil: Code Veronica X), this game is EXTREMELY violent. Take a true gamer’s opinion: this game definitely earned its ‘M’ rating. With the “Not for children w/ queasy stomachs” factor out of the way, lets get to the game:1) Graphics-8.52) Gameplay-9.03) Controls-7.54) Story-(although unoriginal by today’s standards)9.55) Overall-9.0This game is an incredible one. From blowing off heads w/ a sniper rifle, to torching Thing beasts w/ a flamethrower, this game will provide you with a nonstop adrenaline rush. In addition, puzzles are added to balance the game a bit. Some require the simple resupply of power to a fuse box, while others require more strategic and complex thinking. Think of it like this: Resident Evil (any) with better controls, better weapons, and a lot more actual fighting (the RE series focuses more around puzzles than gunfights). This game, although long, can be completed within 1 or 2 rentals. I would not recommend buying this game unless you are a diehard fan of The Thing, or you just need some variety in you game collection.

First off, I would say that The Thing is an above average linear game in the realm of the survival/horror genre of PS2 games. The game’s basic premise is taking on the role of the lead character that is given the undesirable task of investigating an artic research station that has been taken over by an alien entity which looks like a really nasty mix between swamp thing and last year’s tuna casserole you forgot about in the back of the refrigerator. The smaller manifestations of the Thing vary form looking like little skulls running around on chicken legs to goo spitting spiders. Not exactly inspiration for staying up all night wandering what that sound was outside your window. But, in the Thing’s defense it certainly makes a nice target for spraying with your shotgun and then barbecuing it with the flamethrower. The game’s primary focus is on realistically bloody combat, with the arctic station as its backdrop. The game does contain the basic elements of squad teamwork, but it comes across as more of an afterthought than anything else. The redeeming element of the teamwork though is the concept of trust and fear in each of your teammates, as it gives them a feeling of having different personalities and temperaments; to the point where you might actually feel a bit sorry when you have to waste them upon their being infected by the Thing. Which gives the basis for the NPC’s fears; anyone can turn into the Thing at any time. This is a really nice touch as the NPC teammat.
