I bought this game some months ago by Amazon; and I finally want to create a review being that I stumbled upon it today whilst foraging through my games. This is going to be a short and informative review and the title is self explanatory.Graphics-These are the worst graphics I’ve seen on the Gamecube; period. The only games that come near the ugliness this title has would be “Bad Boys- Miami takedown” or Shrek- Extra Large. With that said, the character models have decent enough detail, but ultimately look washed out and in super low-resolution. The animation is smooth, but this title tries to include “bloom” effects and it ends up looking too “glow-y” and not to mention how fuzzy this game looks overall. This looks like a really ugly PS2 game or perhaps even a PS1 title. The environments are bland and while the first level offers the most detail, the latter are a toss up ranging from sewers to back alleys or apartment complexes which has little to no imagination added. To make matters worse, the camera has alot of issues ranging from it being too close or too far away. Camera control is really limited.Score- 4/10Sound-The game’s sound is a mixed bag. I sort of liked the music and the sound effects, but I also noticed how generic they were and everything has the same exact sound effects. No ambience to speak of other than the first level. Decent at best.Gameplay-Here’s where the game gets really boring. TMNT is unlike it’s Konami counterpart on the Gamecube and it shows. The combat is really limited and the game adopts a Prince of Persia-esque system in which you’ll perform wall runs, hang from ledges and pull off platforming puzzles. This was a decent effort, however, the camera is such an issue at times and the draw distance is bad enough that you’ll die from falls rather than fights in this game. In fact, the most difficult challenges in this game would be the platforming and it has alot of jumping. The control can be stiff and unresponsive during combat but pulls off nicely when platforming. The enemies are bland and I’m not kidding when I say you’ll fight clones of the same thugs at one time who pull off the same moves. No different color variations or moveset. No. They do the exact same thing and every now and then they’ll toss in a different enemy. The problem is, the game probably has a total of 4 different enemy types excluding the bosses. This was really disappointing to say the least. The combat itself is nothing to scream about being that you do the same 3-4 moves over and over. Even the Konami TMNT license handled better than this one because the combat was variable enough. The really stupid parts happen when you can just hit a guy once and kill him while some fights will require you to hit a guy 20 or so. TMNT also gives you a super move, but it’s nothing special when all the turtles have identical moves. There’s absolutely no reason to play as a different turtle being that they’re the same. Also, you’re not given a choice. You play with turtles based off levels and aren’t given the freedom to choose which one you’d like to play as.Bad graphics, bad character design, decent voice acting, lots of unlockables, lousy combat etc. This is the worst version. The 360 version has cleaner graphics and a little more. I wouldn’t recommend buying this one at all.
