I first bought the later version, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3, really liked it and didn’t really know if it was worth it to go backwards in games as purchasing this earlier model “Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero.” I’m glad I did, it’s not as difficult but still fun, the mods you can purchase don’t take zillions of credits to start out making your car faster/nicer looking, and the races aren’t impossible to beat; whoever gets the largest lead usually keeps it although tougher rivals take longer time to win so they may come back. I also like that they actually give the story of each racer if you want to read about your rivals, their occupation and trivia. For example, one is a factory worker who is very poor but makes up for the lack of perf. parts on his car with very precise control. Another one mentions a young man who enjoys drifting but is too new to the scene and just ends up sliding all over. They all have stories and many hardcore female racers as well, this gives the game personality other games don’t offer. As another reviewer stated, the cars ARE real versions, just identified with letters/number codes. I’m not into the tuner scene but even I can still identify different year Supra’s, Celica GT’s, Acura NSX,(2) different RX7’s, EVO’s, and many others so don’t think they are “generic” racers. You can even start off with All Wheel Drive cars, which most games make you begin with a slow turd of a car. Another thing I like is that you even get “sympathy” points(spirit points I think th.

I’ve played lots and lots of racing games. This one blew my mind the moment i started quest mode. By the way the cars aren’t completely un-named. Most of a car’s "type" is actually its manufacturer model number. Street racers in japan refer to cars by model number, thus one would never be looking for a 92 RX-7, but an FD-3S.

Tokyo Extreme Racer is the by far the best street racing/racing game i’ve played thus far. I’m a huge fan of import tuning. I own a decked out import, tunned to the finest. Everything from the selection of cars to the selection of mods. It’s great. There is nothing else that can be said about this game except When is Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 coming out?? Someone please answer that for me. Thanks

This is a cool game. If you want street racing(and you better watch "The Fast and the Furious" movie), this is the game that you want(without the cops). This is just plainly fun!!!

Reviewed shop: 808DecalDudeBought this game used from shop 808DecalDude for cheap. It said original packaging and manual but the case cover is an obvious print job, i personally don’t mind because the manual is the real deal. The disc is perfect condition and the game plays just like I remember it.The game itself is a night time Tokyo highway racing game with unofficial cars doesn’t mean the cars aren’t real, they just use their code names (AE86 is the 86′ Toyota Corolla). I bought this game in hopes that it would work with my Logitech steering wheel and it does ! (Logitech NASCAR PS2 Wheel) the game is fantastic and if you’re buying it in 2018 then your obviously played it before and want it for collection or nostalgia. Don’t pay more then $10 for it though. It’s not that kind of collectible

You gotta go out and buy this game. It’s the best street racing game on the market. I agree that grand turismo three might be better but for you street racing fans, this is the game to get. One of the best things in this game is that you are able to add body kits, (hood,bumpers,sideskirts,spoiler/wing,rims,paint,etc.)The cars aren’t named, they are numbered but you can tell what they are (S2000,NSX,skyline,Si) and many more. If you like street racing cars as opposed to expensive european cars then you better go get this game right now. This game is so addictive. you can’t put down the controller until you beat the guy. The map expands as you beat more “bosses.” A very important strategy is to block. This comes in very handy when racing one of the 13 devils or a wanderer. Buy it now and play it every day.
