A series of grisly murders brings Lara Croft into conflict with a sinister alchemist from the past and a secret alliance of powerful individuals shrouded in mystery. At the center of the conflict are the Obscura paintings, five 14th-century pieces of art that the alchemist is desperate to repossess. Guide Lara through dark realms using her improved jumping ability, brainpower, upper body strength, stealth attacks, and skills in hand-to-hand combat. For the first time in a Tomb Raider game, Lara has the ability to talk to characters, and the choices you make in conversation will affect Lara’s route through the game.

How long have we waited for the next Tomb Raider? Inevitably, a game with that kind of buildup will seem a bit disappointing. However, In all but one or two categories, this game is excellent, and everything you want in a Tomb Raider. There are some changes, particularly in the controls; if you’re an experienced Tomb Raider they will feel funny at first, but you get used to them and you can do everything you used to be able to do with the analog stick. My impression is that the game was "rushed" out the door, and this is my only negative comment. There are a few more bugs than you’d expect in a first-flight game, though (so far) none too irritating. The graphics are good, but not quite top notch: Lara’s character animation is very good, but her placement on the scenery is sometimes imprecise and the scenery itself is not up to the par of current PS2 games. Consider Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, which did far more with the original PS than this one does with the PS2. Also, features are mentioned in the instruction booklet that don’t exist in the game, all of which contribute to the feeling that the game was rushed out the door in time for this year’s Tomb Raider movie.Still, high marks for the game, just not quite 5 stars.

Like everyone else, i was having major doubts of *Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness* when it was set back till June of 2003. My first thought was they were trying to make the game better, but from what they described it as in November 2002 and what i have seen playing the game, it’s not that much different from what the original release date’s copy would’ve been. However, even if it completely sucked i would’ve still bought it due to my obsession with the TR series. When i put it in i knew it was going to be excellent, but when i started the game, i realized it had some good qualities and some faults. I’m only going to chronicle what’s happened to me up to where i’m currently at in the game (Level 5) and what qualities and faults i’ve discovered up to then. The game begins as any Tomb Raider game would, a training level to learn Lara’s new moves. Aside from using her new stealth move, the moves are pretty much regular, however, the image of Lara has greatly improved from TR Chronicles. The story begins with a news reporter telling Paris to be on the lookout for Lara, due to her accused murder of Von Croy (remember Last Revelations? you should remember Von Croy then). When you start the game, though, it starts before the opening movie’s story, Lara and Von Croy are argueing. Von Croy tells Lara about 5 pieces of artwork he’s been seeking and tells her to go to Madame Carviea’s (i think that’s how you spell her name) apartment, where she’ll find his notebook highlighting what s.

I love this game regardless of its faults. The graphics, music, and story are definitely ahead of its time. If the controls were slightly fixed or altered it would have been a top notch game in 2003. Indefinitely a unique entry for the Tomb Raider series, a must for any fan of the franchise.

I can only share my personal experience and tell you that I really enjoyed this game. The graphics are good, both characters and environment. Maybe Lara doesn’t look quite realistic, but that’s because her design follows the original. It’s now more detailed and looks better.A very interesting new feature is Lara’s interaction with other characters. Now you can choose between different answers and thus obtain different reactions that determine the game’s development. In my opinion, the only legitimate complain against the game is the new analog control. However, the game is designed to let you get used to it before the hard part of the game begins.Any difficulty you may have in understanding the new control system shall be compensated, at least in my opinion, with some of Lara’s new moves. She can now sneak behind her enemies’ backs and even engage in hand-to-hand combat if needed. This is no Mortal Kombat though, so don’t expect any kind of super-special-move or devastating-attack.The reason why I’m not rating this game with five stars is that some change of scenarios don’t make much sense. Can’t tell you much more without spoiling the story. Sorry. All in all, I recommend this game, especially to all TR fans.

I was supposed to get this back in November. Then February. Then March. Then April. Now it’s here. In June. 7 months after it was supposed to come out. Watch the previews of the game and it will say coming “This Winter.” It sure feels hot out for winter. The reason it was delayed is because the very smart people at Core couldn’t fix all the problems with the game. So with 7 months of working on it you’d think the game would be perfect. Not so. Anybody who plays the game for 5 min can find several problems with the game. The main problem is the AI. I’ve been bitten by a dog, who is behind a fence, and 15 feet away from where I was standing. Big problem here. Also, Lara moves VERY slowly and she’s very stiff. She actually controlled better back on Playstation 1. You now automatically climb on to things just by walking up to them. This is a serious problem since if you’re in a tight jam you may accidentally climb up on something when you don’t want to. The game also takes very long to load. Just to get to your inventory takes several seconds to load. And the game suffers from serious slow down many times. And by slow I mean SLOW! It’s strange too since I’ve played much more complicated games where there was no slow down at all. So what is good about this game? Well, the story for one thing. The graphics are beautiful but some things like Lara’s ears are all blurry. The voice acting is pretty good. I’d have to say the best thing about the game is the bonus features. I think Core.

Clunky controls get better if you use an action replay before playing. A big jump in graphics from ps1 Tomb Raider. Worth a go round but definitely get action replay if you like yourself.

It arrived on time (actually early which was cool) and the game actually plays. sometimes it has to be sitting in my PlayStation before I turn it on or else it won’t play but I think that’s just because my PS2 is old. overall really happy and it came with the booklet which I love!
