10 reviews for Tron Evolution – PSP Game

  1. Ice Man

I agree with the 2 reviews here. This game is beautiful and the sound is to. I highly recomend this game to anyone who is in to the Tron universe. If your a Tron fan like me, you’ll love it.

Tron for the Playstation Portable can be one of the strongest and weakest entries in the series, depending on what you’re looking for.Sound is up to par with the newer film, complete with the sound effects and musical scores. The game also has a handful of voice acting samples that are pretty good. Graphically the game looks nearly as good as the new film and the PS3/360 game.In terms of plot, this entry is easily the weakest in the series. You’re treated to a nice opening cutscene and a decent introduction sequence in which you get to play as Tron and test out the new Light Cycles. After that the real main character is introduced, a new program developed by Flynn called Beta. Flynn wants Tron to train Beta and make him into the next Champion of the Games. And that’s where the plot ends…The rest of the game consists of playing the minigames and trying to score in the top three to gain points. When you accumulate enough points, you advance to the next round. There are a ton of games to play, and you only get a few points each when you score high enough. Score at least third in each game three times for cumulative points. By scoring first place in a game, you also unlock an extra that you can use to customize Beta, your Light Cycle, and your Light Tank. No more cutscenes no more storyline. Now I will confess that I have yet to complete the game (there are a ton of games to play through to do so, and you need to accumulate a lot of points to progress), and so I can’t really conf.

  4. Pac Man Fever

This game is seriously pretty in motion! It was clearly made by fans of the new and old Tron stuff, as it is set in the new world, but often pays homage to the old. It has a cameo by Bit and an entire Classic Light Cycles mode, complete with unlock-able classic bike! Win! The modern Light Cycle race tracks are gorgeous and it’s amazing how clean this all looks. You basically move around a few world maps, picking and choosing events to compete in. You can play Recognizer rail-shooters, play Tank combat, run through score-based adventure/action levels, play disc and melee combat, and several Light Cycle modes. There’s even a little hacking mini-game that is kind of a cross between Guitar Hero and Klax. Super simple, but more fun to unlock doors than just pressing a button, for sure. Some of the games can be tough, but there is often an angle or way to play that you can pick up on to be better. Race AI will turbo just as much as you, so it’s more of a steady pace that will keep them at bay, and then sprint for the finish line. You can also look for CLU and Tron in various events and beat them for bonuses! Sound FX are great and work well, while the music is a bit limited. But what is there really works well, and at least one or two of the tracks are some of the Daft Punk stuff from the new movie

Bought as a gift for oldest Grandson, elicited the sought after response when unwrapped, after that, I don’t know how much he liked it. Must have been ok or he would have told me.

  6. Thomas

This game is awesome. “<– period”By far the best Tron game of the bunch. In fact I bought my cousin a PSP just so he could play multiplayer with me. If you’ve played the other Tron games then you MUST BUY this game because it’s completely unique!!! I wish the other games were as fun and well designed as Tron on PSP, but sadly they are not. You can tell just by looking at the dope box art that this game is sweet, but once you actually play it you’ll be in glowing disc throwing, light bike riding heaven! If you buy one game this holiday season make it Tron Legacy for the PSP. If you buy two, make it Fat Princess Fistful of Cake, because that game rocks socks as well.

Really could’nt wait to play the game after seeing the movie. Glad i got the psp version which seems to be the best. Its best to play this game with your handphones on. Sound is great, music by Daft Punk is amazing. Love the light bike game. Single player campaign can be tough. But its so much fun.

I bought it to go with my collection of tron video games for the PSP. It went well with my set.

  9. Shizuka Ninja

Though it can be quite a challenge and that is partially because of the cheapness of some of it, the gameplay still keeps me coming back for more. There are some kinks though, namely the races, there is a lot of rubberbanding going on but if you get the power-ups and learn the tracks you can get through it ok. The Recognizer levels are even tougher though, I have yet to even place a score…geeze, I feel so old. There’s no difficulty select here so you’re stuck with trying to best your score on your own.The game has a story mode of sorts that takes place about 3 years after the first Tron film so the events preclude the new movie. I think all the games take place before the film and at different periods. The PS3 and 360 version take place after this PSP game but alas, those games aren’t as good as this. Anyway you play the part of a program named Beta, tasked to compete in games that Flynn has created and supervised by Tron. You can choose which events to compete in any order you wish and by placing at least 3rd you gain points to unlock items and open up the next tier of the events. The event types consist of Light Cycle racing(which is a lot like WipEout but a bit jerker), Light Cycle Grid(which is like the classic Tron snake game), Light Cycle Arena(which is kinda like grid but with race controls of the bikes), on foot Melee battles/Hacking(which is part platforming and brawling), Tanks battles(which are similar to the old Atari 2600 game, Combat) and the Recognizer shootin.

Tron Evolution for the PSP is a title that will easily be overlooked but shouldn’t be if your looking for some portable TRON action on the go. The PSP version of Tron Evolution is different than the console versions but it’s still a good game on its own.The game is essentially broken up into 4 mini games that include Light Cycles, Light Tanks, Disc Combat, and Recognizers. There are variations on the 4 types of mini games which includes races, death-matches, Light Tank zone control, a Recognizer on-rail shooter and platforming levels. All of this definitely keeps things fresh in terms of variety. The mini games can be tackled as you choose and each includes various unlockables for your character, Light Cycle and Light Tank. There are various upgrades, color/circuit schemes, armors/helmets and classical/original TRON vehicle unlockables. During Light Cycle and Tank events there are typically 3 other combatants that will challenge you but occasionally one of the 3 will be either TRON or CLU themselves and they will surrender additional unlockables if you can beat them and come in first. But be warned: they are tough.Speaking a little more on the difficulty of the game, I will say that it can be rather difficult at times. I’m a huge gamer and I’ve played hundreds of games in my lifetime so I definitely know my stuff. TRON Evolution for the PSP is tough for my seasoned skills and I can only imagine that its even more frustrating for kids and casual gamers. But fear not the game h.
