True Crime Streets of LA

True Crime Streets of LA is a 2003 open world action-adventure video game develop by Luxoflux and publish by Activision for GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox in November 2003, for Microsoft Windows in May 2004. And by Aspyr for Mac OS X in March 2005. A mobile phone adaptation was release in November 2004. The game tells the story of Nicholas Kang, an uncompromising Los Angeles police officer who is recruit into the Elite Operations Division in order to investigate a series of bombings in Chinatown. As he delves further into the case, he discovers it may be connected to the disappearance of his police-officer father twenty years previously. However, the game features a 240-square-mile (622 km2) re-creation of a large part of Los Angeles, including most of Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, with most street names, landmarks and highways reproduced accurately.

Streets of LA receive generally mix-to-positive reviews. Many critics praise the ambitious nature of the game, its setting. And the differentiation between itself and Grand Theft Auto III. Also the branching storyline and the overall ‘feel’. Common criticisms. However, were graphical and technical problems, an unlikable protagonist, and poorly implement gameplay. But the game was a commercial success, selling over three million units worldwide across all platforms. And the True Crime franchise continue in 2005, with the release of True Crime: New York City.

    Performance

Very fun missions!!!! But,missions can be hard to pass, the camera is bad and makes you want to buy grand theft auto, you cannot buy things the cars suck, the soundtrack is okay,in order to explore you’ll have to go to an episode that you know that doesn’t have a time limit in order to explore, there are no good weapons or minigames!!!!! This is why I recommend you buying GTA games over True Crime

    Best Gamecube Game Available!!!!

This game is totally great. Ignore the comment by the guy who says this is a GTA ripoff, this, game has its own identity, and this game blows GTA out of the water. Seriously, this game looks like LA, and the freeways, beaches, sidestreets, alleys, are all exploreable. I’ve been gaming since I had a colecovision in 1982. And, I rarely buy games, because there is so many bad ones. Hands down, this is one of the greatest games ever made for a video game system.

    True Let-Down

As an avid fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, I was really looking forward to True Crime. I mean, I was REALLY looking forward to it. It’s too bad that they put all that work into it for nothing. There are so many things wrong with this game, but I’ll only name a few: 1), the length. The game can be beaten in two days or less (if you can handle the extreme level of difficulty). Which brings me to the number 2), the difficulty. At a few points in the game, difficulty reaches near impossible. I nearly smashed my controller a few times. 3) No boats, planes, helicopters, bikes, nothin’. Just about ten different cars to choose from in this massive and pointlessly recreated Los Angeles. This game was the biggest let-down in gaming history, as far as I’m concerned. It had so much going for it. I’m warning you, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. At the very most, rent it with a gift card at blockbuster. It’s sad, really.

fake crime and take your mama out to dinner BAD!

First of all I’d like to point out that this game takes forever to load. Even for gamecube, for ps2, I’d understan, but gamecube. The graphics are like simple plan singing a love song to guys! I mean that in a bad way. It’s a cool game but the game play is terrible, and the levels are short.

The reviewer before me is not telling the facts.

I would just like to set the record straight. The reviewer before me plagued this game with uninspiried comments that completely contradict what he said. He reccomended grand theft auto.Let me break it down for you.Shooting is NOT boring. You upgrade your guns, you get 2, you can use different combinations(like a shotgun and a rifle at the same time or an uzi and a pistol). You can precision aim and take out guys in one shot or neutralize them. GTA involves holding r2 and hitting O every time.Fighting involves tons of different combos. THere are plenty of grapples and special moves that make it fun. On the plus side you can knock your enemies into tons of things making the areas more interactive. GTA involves you hitting O over and over.Driving is fun. You can shoot out tires and slow down time(you can also slow down shooting on foot) but the best thing is that the area is huge with no loading times once your out there. The driving lets you do tons of things and upgrade your driving to give you new abilities. GTA involves holding X. O, and both games have radios. This game lets you turn off music you don’t want to listen to.I could go for hours about this game. Seeing reviews like the one before this infuriate me. I can’t stand it when people don’t even play a game and want to review it. This game has hours of fun. 3 hours? If you play through the campaign without doing anything. I’ve cruised around solving crimes and upgrading my weapons for a few weeks. Talk about replay value…I do hope people will sincerely consider this game instead of badmouthing it for having some lock ups(extremely rare) or blocky trees(which is completely untrue). If you think the trees are blocky in this than check out GTA because they certainly are not.

Worth the $1.90 plus shipping that I paid.I gave it to my friend as a gift and he enjoyed it overall. The game is fun, but gets repetitive after a while.
