This game is, quite simply, the best jungle shooter I’ve ever played. I know I won’t be popular for saying this… I enjoyed it more than Far Cry. In fact, I rank this excellent title up there with Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4.REASONS I LOVED THIS GAME1. Excellent Controls2. Excellent Graphics3. Best Use of a Bow Since Half Life 24. Liberal Use of Testosterone5. Most Satisfying Knife Attack… Ever[…]

i found this game very enjoyable, i wasn’t awe struck by it but it was a very fun first person shooter. the online play is decent as well but compared to some of the other online first person shooters this game sits on the shelf once you beat it. i would say its a rental or used on amazon right now is 10$ i’d say its definately worth 10$ because its only a couple bucks more then renting it. if your a first person shooter fan at all and do enjoy stabbing large reptiles i would highly recommend it

Amazing game. Good story. Definitely worth the buy. I bought this game the first day came out back in 09. Not a fan of the multi player though.

Fun game, little bit dated now but unique and entertaining.

Turok is a dino killing FPS. The controls leave some things to be desired, but after you adjust the sensitivity how you want it, it isn’t that bad.The good stuff? These are some mean dinosaurs for real. the melee kill function is nice (shove your dagger through the top of a dino’s skull). The bad guys (I forget their names) are pretty hardcore and can spot you from a good distance. The best though are of course, the dinos. No auto-aim (which I like) and once a dino gets a hold of you, you switch to a melee attack using your triggers to kill the dino or at least keep him at bay. The soundtrack is minimal and hypnotic, it’s a great part of the experience if you notice it. Weapons? The compound bow is awesome, some of the other weapons leave you wanting more. The bad stuff? No this is not and will never be COD4. The environments are lush, but can become pixelated. The cut scenes are downright painful and the storyline is weak. I bought this on a whim and cannot play it in front of my kids (a well deserved M rating). There is no adjustment for brightness or contrast, which kind of sucks.Take Turok for what it is… dino-killing porn and you’ll like it. Compare it to COD4 and you will be (of course) really disappointed.

Such an underrated and overlooked shooter. So yeah, you’re not a time travelling Indian this time, but you’re still Turok [still indian, his specific tribe is briefly covered], and you’re still dealing with a planet of prehistoric-era dinosaurs.Gunplay and controls are solid, bow and arrow is absolutely fantastic, and the melee/survival fights against dinos is just awesome. It’s only a couple bucks, go buy it and play it.

I loved the old Turok for N64. There were three specific aspects of the game that I loved.1) Ridiculously huge nasty gun selection consisting of fun items like the razor wind, the shredder, and my personal favorite, the cerebral bore. All of which fit nicely in your magical medicine bag2) Dump trucks of blood and gore. I loved being able to decapitate, eviscerate and amputate my way through enemies.3) The thoroughly awesome science fiction aspects of the story. You are Turok ;the last in a long line of mystically destined Native American hunters, cast into an alternate dimension where you must battle cybernetically modified, turbo, dinosaur mutant, alien, monsters being controlled by ancient Lovecraftian aliens and mutant god things. It just can’t get better than that! The new Turok has none of this. You are a space marine named Turok. The game is basically a lame rip off of Gears of War. You have mostly two types of enemies: enemy patrol guys that don’t even bleed, and dinosaurs which you mostly kill by jabbing them in the head with your combat knife. The dino kills with the knife are incredibly repetitive and only require one button push. It usually isnt even worth it to shoot them because they run around so fast. You can only carry 5 weapons at a time and two are a bow and knife. I am so sick of this forced realism in games. I want to be able to switch between flame throwers, missile launchers, shotguns etc. The massive weapon selection was one of the best aspects of the game.To sum it up1) Smaller, less imaginative weapon selection; of which you can only carry a few at a time2) Greatly reduced blood and gore.3) Almost complete removal of the original sci-fi storyline. You are a space marine; you crash on a planet with dinosaurs. That is pretty much the extent of the science fiction in this game.I got this game used for $6 and it is barely worth

Wow. I guess they figure the graphics are a bit updated so they can pass it off as a cutting edge PS3 issue for the New Year. Bzzt! This is a straight terrible game. All you have to do is play the demo, don’t bother with the game if you are really that interested. Game itself is nearly worse. RFOM like controls, another game I thought was very dissapointing. Sound is like voice overs, doesn’t match the action. I was bored killing dinosaurs after about 2 kills but I went on so I could give it a proper chance. Your partner in the game, your guide throughout the maps has archaic, unatural 2D movements. I’ve been dying to rent Uncharted what 1st or 2nd best game for the PS3 for ages yet it’s never in, one copy everywhere, sometimes none, yet they have like 4 copies of Turok at every Blockbuster. Like sticking a knife in my side, this game is an embarrasment. They should pay us $60 to play the demo. Shame on you Turok developers!
